Canadian Gaming "Deals" and Discussion Thread 6: Sorry, We Can't Afford a New Thread

I know I'll regret not choosing the TE2+ later and it's not really that much of a difference in price so for me the choice is easy.

Speaking of SFV, this is what my Amazon order says:

Craptacular.

This is kinda where my head is at. It does look large though. That is super crappy. I better go and check where mine is at.

That's just amazon's way of getting you to switch over to more expensive shipping. For me it's usually this way up until they ship it (which is the day before or the day of release) and then it's just a 1 or 2 day wait.

Just had that happen actually. Ordered something on friday, estimated time was feb 11-16. And today it's out for delivery.

Hope you're right man.

I hope so too, but on the other hand amazon has shown that for the cheaper preorders they sometimes deliver late (almost like they ship based on the price you paid for the itme or something) but honestly, while I'll be disappointed, I won't complain if it ends up arriving a week or two late since I'm getting it for 59.99 - 30% - 30%. LOL.

I think I'm going to cancel both my TE sticks. I'm not enough of an enthusiast of arcade games or fighters to warrant getting either one.

I did this. I love Street Fighter games but I would rather use something like a Saturn pad. Wish they would make Saturn Pads compatible.

If anyone is interested Nolan North, Troy Baker and, Charles Martinet are going to be at the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo this year.

I know I'm stoked.

Too true haha, those of us who caught the arcade stick price error will be getting that almost 50% off too.

LG and good input latency dont belong in the same sentence.

For high-end models it's bad compared to the competition, but their entry level stuff is usually nearly as good as high-end for latency, which means it's fine for the price. <30ms on this model, which isn't bad.

Hmmm yeah, good price. I thought I was supposed to avoid IPS? I might be dreaming but I thought I read that somewhere in one of the TV threads here.

Depends on taste really, most mobile devices have IPS screens now. It makes colors look more vibrant, but also gives them a "colder", more blue-ish tone. Viewing angles are usually better on IPS panels too. As with any TV it depends on calibration, but I personally really like IPS screens. They're usually not very good for gaming because they tend to be more laggy, but it's not the case here in game mode.

Vita accessories discounted at king and town line Oshawa walmart. 49 for 32 gig memory card. 2 left. Playstation branded 3D glasses are .99 cents.
Picked up the lasted vita portAble charger for 4.99.

Hmm ok so the lag is fine on the LG 49LF5400?

Really tempting. I would have preferred a 120hz, especially if I end up plugging my PC but can't have everything.

sigh... I guess I need to go to EB to get my damn Mew codes now

Of all places it was eb :( which sucks (didn't like the guy who works/manage the eb that I used to go to lol), I wish it was a network distribution. I was reading that some eb doesn't limit it to 1 per person, the promo last until Feb 24 and their banner says while supplies last.

I just bought the 43" version of that TV and haven't had any issues in game mode.

Compared with the TV (a nearly 10-year-old Sharp) it's replacing it has a great picture, but it's lacking in inputs -- two HDMIs and a Component (vs. HDMIx2, Componentx2, RCAx1 and VGA).

Overall I'm happy considering what I paid (just under $400).

Shoppers has the LF5100 model for about the same as Costco's price on the 5400 -- at 20x the points would be tempting, but that Costco warranty! Thinking about dropping the additional $30 to cover it for 5 years.

NOTE: If you're the kind of person who wants to hook up external speakers, look elsewhere. No audio out on this thing.

Good to know thanks!

The biggest problem with the LG right now is that it's not in stock anywhere near here and delivery is not really an option.

What you guys think about this one?

I'm on Sega's PR list, and the only reason I'm not totally over the moon about 7th Dragon is the little bit at the end: "US$39.99/CA$54.99".

Thankfully it's a summer release, so I can hold out hope for E3.

I love when I get a decent deal from Canada Computers, buy the item... only to be told days later that the item is unavailable.

THEN WHY THE FUCK DID I JUST BUY IT

wasting days off warranty from my other computer parts. fuckers.

Pre-ordered both the Fightstick TE S+ and TE2+ during the Amazon pricing fiasco. Still unable to decide which one to keep. Anyone else in this predicament? If you made a choice, which did you pick? Harder decision than I thought...

I picked the TES+, since I really like the TE I own already. I thought the TE2 was too big, and those loose top panel stories scared me away from it.

Once I give it a go, and confirm whether I like it or not, I might sell my HRAP4 Kai. Unless my son wants to learn SF, but he's a bit young.

Thanks for the response. Makes sense. My current TE I really like, I just want to stay away from the brook adapters, and buying a board to mod it with shipping at the current rate is about $50 shy from the TES+.

I was in the same boat and ended up going with the TE2+ after reading around a bit on GAF.

I liked the art on the TES+ a bit better, but seeing the shots of the actual version rather than the render pushed me over the edge on the TE2+.

I hope that there might be a touch more quality and flexibility in modding in the TE2+ that makes it worth the cash in the long run.

Either way, I don't think you can make a bad choice at the prices we preordered them for.

The TE2+ will have a removable plexiglass so you can have custom artwork so it has that added benefit for modding. The TES+ the artwork is a part of the top sheet the buttons sit on.

More attractive form factor and somewhat less taxing modability didn't seem to be worth the $40 price difference.

Yeah I'm hoping for more quality. What I'm surprised few people are talking about is what looks like less wrist space on the TES+ due to the touch controls being centred at the top instead of the side. It looks like ones wrist would rest on or near the edge and that may prove uncomfortable.

Need a PS4 sooner than later, and I need to be playing Destiny. There's a bundle on Amazon with Uncharted collection and Destiny/Taken King for 479. (500 gig)

Is there anything in the near-future that you guys know of that might make for a great deal on the console / better bundles or should I go ahead and pull the trigger now?
