Canadian Gaming "Deals" and Discussion Thread 6: Sorry, We Can't Afford a New Thread

Reminds me of Americans butting into the Canadian amiibo thread to amerisplain

Amerisplaining is a pretty good word. It gets pretty bad at times too. Take a look at any thread that talks about the CDN dollar & the price of games in Canada lately. "Oh well if you look at the exchange rate seems pretty fair to my privileged American ass" -- yeah of course, currency changes never ever affect you no matter what.

None taken, I know I'm new and I mainly participate to this thread, but I find Neogaf a great source of well-researched discussion, except that one thread.

It's not even so much junior members as it is ones that immediately start shitposting. Like people with 10 posts that just spew garbage. I've started just adding them to my ignore list any time I see this, I'm hoping they get banned but it's not something you can really rely on happening.

I like how Amazon is just upfront with refusing to ship items that are in stock because you had the indecency to pick the free shipping option.

I'm done with them because of crap like this

Purposely sitting on your order for over a week because you won't pay extra for shipping

Wait, Amazon is supposed to email us a code for our Digimon pre-order bonuses? They haven't emailed me squat!

I like how Amazon is just upfront with refusing to ship items that are in stock because you had the indecency to pick the free shipping option.

They did that to me with Digimon yesterday. Had to complain and then they shipped it but I still didn't get release day delivery (even though I bought Prime to ensure I would). First time they've done that to me. :(

No, it just says not yet shipped on my order page.

Oh that issue. Have Prime members got theirs? I just assumed they're pretty terrible for fulfilling back orders. Have you tried to give them a poke via chat? I did that once and it was immediately sent.

They will never admit this, but ever since Prime came to Canada it's been pretty much this for most orders.

When I had to prod them, it was waaaay before Prime. I believe it was for Street Fighter IV.

I can't seem to cancel Far Cry Primal from Amazon...

Your item has not been cancelled
Because your order was placed as part of a promotion, there may be an order adjustment fee for cancelling items.

Black Ops 3 was part of the same order too. I'll try contacting CS.

Hmm, weird. I was able to cancel it yesterday even though it was part of the 30% thing from back in late November. Like NamikazeBurst said, mobile should work if it keeps giving you trouble.

Lol Nitroplus. The only reason why I kept it at all.

Yeah, that frustrates me too.

I mean, it's not as if Canadians get paid in American dollars. People don't make more to offset these increases.

anyone else getting this email literally everyday for like a month?

Hello from Amazon.ca.

We wanted to let you know there's a delay with one or more items in the order you placed on June 15, 2015 (Order# 701-1637811-2903425).

"Final Fantasy XV PS4"
Estimated ship date: December 28, 2015 - December 29, 2015
"Kingdom Hearts 3 PS4"
Estimated ship date: December 28, 2015 - December 29, 2015

Yep...

"Scalebound - Xbox One"
Estimated ship date: December 28, 2015 - December 29, 2015
"Star Fox Zero - Wii U"
Estimated ship date: December 28, 2015 - December 29, 2015
"Sea of Thieves - Xbox One"
Estimated ship date: December 28, 2015 - December 29, 2015

EVERY DAY

Those Amazon e-mails aren't every day for me, but every so often I'll get "We're still trying to get a hold of this item for you. Still want it? We'll keep trying!"

The other thing the Americans that defend the pricing don't realize is that when the dollar shifts back in our favour it takes an eternity for companies to change prices. I remember like 10 or 15 years back when the dollar was at 0.5 or 0.6 and book prices were ridiculous (like $20US or $36.99 CDN). Once the dollar got back to about 0.85-0.9, it took well over 2 years for these prices to inch slightly back.

Now this time around, prices shifted within like a month of currency changes. If it ever shifts back, how much do you want to bet it won't be rectified within a month?

EVERY DAY

I'm getting this every day:

"Xcom 2 PC"
Estimated arrival date: Unknown

Makes me a little worried.

This is a good word.

The GR thread is a cesspool (not sure what I expected looking back) hence why I've stopped posting. Always lovely to get Americans telling us why we shouldn't be upset about something

Yeah I'm done with that thread. No need to argue with people on how a simple gesture going a long way is all I'm looking for.

Whatever, I'm not getting Gravity Rush. Not getting 2 either. If they cannot sell it the right way then there's no point.

Next time. Next story.

Every day would be nice. I get 3-4 a day.

From importing gravity rush with the 20% prime discount, if our dollars goes up just a little, I think importing from US will be worth it for a while (except E3 discounts)...Gravity Rush cost me 43$, that's cheaper than 44.99$+tx here for the expected price of the physical copy (see Valkyria Remastered price).

I think you can unsubscribe. I don't get any of those emails: just shipping and payment ones.

That thread was gold. It was fun.

So Canada Post apparently delivered my copy of Digimon but nothing was in the mailbox, nobody came to the door, and there was no slip indicating that it would be taken to a post office for pick up. When I track it, it says "Delivered". What the hell?

Give it an hour or two, sometimes they pre-emptively select delivered (when they shouldn't).
If nothing shows up, then I would get in contact with them.

The mailman arrives at my building around 11-11:30am. The tracking page says it was delivered at 11:17am. Nothing anywhere. When it's available for pick-up or on its way to a store, it usually says so. Just says "Delivered" this time around.

really? sellling games physically isn't the right way, its just one way,

Love how people said we should just import it if we want it. But why the fuck do we have to do that? It should have just come out here. They're also really ignorant that we have to pay a LOT more due to the current horrible exchange rate too and then pay shipping and possibly face duties.

I would love to have a reverse situation where a game is sold in Canada but not in the US for some silly reason, and have to explain to them why they can't have it sold there.

What's your experience with play asia?

I'm looking to import Cyber Sleuth and they're cheaper then VGP. I also had a bad experience with VGP not shipping and refunding me my Seran Kagura SV copy so I want to avoid them.
