Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

Two SF2 characters, two SF3 characters and one SF4 character are all very safe guesses. Sagat and Akuma are also not going to be 2018 releases.

Q/Dudley
Makoto/Oro
Akuma
Sagat
C.Viper
Sakura

The ones in bold are almost surely locks. The SF3 picks are the only uncertain ones, but it all depends on whether or not Capcom will be doing yearly story expansions. If they do those expansions I could see Oro being a season 2 character. Dunno where Makoto, Dudley and Q fit into the SF lore, but they're easily some of the coolest and most popular SF (general not not SF3) designs. Q really needs to be back already and Makoto would be another needed conservative female design like Karin.

I always wanted bengus, kinu and daigo(3s) drawing for a new capcom fighter

Marvel 2 Bengus is godlike btw

Argh. I'm annoyed over here.

I have an HRAP EX (I replaced the buttons with Sanwas/Semitsu can't remember which) and a HRAP EX SA

I think thats what its called. This one:

I was okay with the purchases because even when XBOX 360 went away, they would still work fine with my PC and MAME and stuff.

But my living situation has changed, and I got a PS4 as a gift. I would MUCH rather play SFV on PS4 rather than PC the way my life is now, and it looks like there more money is going to be spent then I want. So I have a number of questions.

1. This is bold because it informs a lot of the other stuff. Has there been any official statement in any way concerning PS3 sticks working with SFV on PS4?

1a. Because I am pretty certain no one would be interested at all in trading a newish PS4 stick for an old 360 stick BUT if PS3 sticks do work, I was thinking there is someone out there who is planning on playing on PC and may want to trade (I will hit up B/S/T and arcade stick thread, but I am first making this post to get knowledge) an old PS3 stick for an old 360 stick.

2. Converters - Every converter I have looked into has a lot of problems. They are hacky. They run through your PC. They drop the connection. Also, they are expensive. I'd rather just sell my sticks and buy a PS4 stick, I think. Let me know if this line of thinking has any holes.

3. How does it run? - Capcom's engines are usually very PC friendly. I have a machine I built 4ish years ago. It can run PS3/360 ports usually at very high settings at 1080 and hold close to 60. Has the beta been on PC yet? Any performance reports? Although I highly prefer PS4, I may just settle on PC if it is going to run well.

@ Sir Garbageman/The End - Those pads were designed for PS3 originally. Are we sure they work with SFV on PS4?

Everything about this game seems rushed from an artwork standpoint. I mean the cover was the first image made for the game.

The cover is pretty much iconic within the FGC at this point.
It's a solid, simple, easily recognizable image. I don't think the cover would have changed, no matter how much time they had.

So many people have already taken pictures with the arms crossed pose:

Yea I think it's fine to say people don't like the art but to say Bengus fell off or that he sucks now isn't fair in this case. He has to do drawings for the story modes of each of the first 16 characters and probably at least the 6 dlc characters currently in the pipeline. He did do that nice promotional poster.

He did all the promo art, covers, and story mode illustrations for 35+ characters in Alpha 3 and they looked amazing

If we were gonna do any sort of story relevancy to the characters being added in, Sodom gave up fighting to go open a restaurant. They mention it in Poison's story mode back in 4. That being said was he ever a popular character that was due for a comeback?

I honestly dont think story will be that important for characters pulled from later seasons. I doubt capcom is willing to make a cinematic story every season. The arcade ones will be super simple, just think sf4 arcade stories.

Thank you so much for this post. It's clearly a rushed job to draw all this shit in short notice

People talking shit about Bengus lately is just fucking stupid

It is a shame though that some of the art came out looking as rough as it does, you'd think they'd commission the art in a better time frame so everything can look polished. Hard to say without hearing from people involved in the project what went down though, like how much time did he have to work on all of that.

Man I can barely see any reason to ever use Vega's claw stance, clawless is so much better overall. Both stance deals the same amount of damage on their changed normals, but clawless has better frame data and links and barely anything is special cancelable on claw stance. You would think claw stance would have the hitbox advantage at the very least but this isn't even so. Some normals like cr.mp has better range AND better hitboxes than it's claw counterpart.

GMG is selling the SFV season pass now, and they have their usual 20% code.
I'll probably bite if it hits 25%. I want the characters and associated costumes, so it might be worth it at that price and save any fight money for the cosmetic stuff and/or next season.

Capcom knows they cannot go wrong with Ryu so they just slap him front and center and know they're good now.

Looking back that Chun Li box art was pretty sweet...with the smoke surrounding her and shit.

Never noticed before how bored and distracted Ryu looks in that cover.

These are simply character introductions, so not much really happens in terms of plot.
I had to skip through some of the dialouge because I didn't have much time so I can't remember all of the details.

Laura playfights with Sean and then leaves their house. She sees Birdie in Brazil and offers him a free meal if they fight. After they fight Laura asks Birdie if he knows any strong fighters to which he points her in the direction of Karin. Karin and Laura fight and Laura asks her if she knows any strong fighters. Karin tells her about Ryu. Laura and Ryu fight, Ryu talks about the Satsui no Hado. Laura finds Zangief and fights him. Afterwards, Zangief gives Laura tickets to a wrestling scouting event. The last shot is Sean sitting in Brazil wondering where Laura is.

Ken, Eliza and Mel are invited to a party hosted by Karin. Ken remembers fights between him and Ryu. They get to the party but get lost. Birdie thinks they're trespassing and fights Ken. Karin arrives and offers Ken a pre-meal fight as an apology for Birdie attacking him. Ken accepts. Ken and Eliza talk about Ryu not being at the party. Mel is about 1 year old.

Necalli's is weird. A 'Warrior Prophet' talks about the legend of Necalli. Necalli fights Ryu, Dhalsim and Bison and after beating them he kinda absorbs them. The prophet talks about Necalli feasting on warrior's souls. I don't remember much of this one.

Rashid's is really short. 2 matches. He's eating with his servant (a huge arabic guy called Azam). He talks about his friend going missing and how Shadaloo is involved. He sees Birdie and fights him. He talks to his friends online (he's constantly messaging them) and one of them (Maya) tells him to fight Ryu in order to see if he can take on Shadaloo. Rashid looses against Ryu (Gouken is with Ryu for some reason that is not given). Can't remember the ending though.

Nash's is basically a run-down of Alpha. He fights Bison, gets killed and is found by Helen (no mention of Illuminati as far as I know). He travels the world and finds some kid called Ed. Ed has psycho power but FANG arrives. You fight FANG. I started talking to the guy from GAME at this point so next thing I know Nash is standing in front of Guile and co. (basically that picture) then it ended.
Maya's the real name of Crimson Viper. Is it her? Was Maya voiced by Michelle Ruff?

No voices and there's no direct confirmation it's her, but it's likely. Rashid was talking to a bunch of his friends about Shadaloo through messages and he calls one of them Maya.

It would make sense. They have once similarity. They both use technology to enhance their fighting abilities. Perhaps C. Viper befriended him in some secret spy mission in the middle east.

Quick Laura sketch I did today, nothing fancy but I figured this thread would dig it :)

So regarding the rollback netcode in SFV, I got some questions.

Example, Wong vs Arturo (east coast vs west coast), the same match:
Art's perspective: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6edIL29kjo0
Looks pretty much perfect.
Wong's perspective: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_V9kT7nUI-I&feature=youtu.be&t=1h2m13s
Noticable skips, some wrong sounds play and there are some "double hits".

Can someone explain what's causing this to be on one side and not the other? This is still a p2p connection after all, the latency should be about the same in both directions, right?
How does the game decide who is "right"? Could this be the other way around next time and Arturo gets the short end of the stick?

Rollback code tries to approximate what happened as you're playing the match and, when it gets the correct data, "rolls back" if the state you're playing diverges from what actually happened. So in this instance Arturo was playing in the correct state all along and Wong wasn't, which is why he experiencing the roll back.

I get all that, I just don't understand why it's so one-sided. My impression was always that a p2p connection is either good for both or bad for both, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

as they said in the other thread, Killer Desync 2.0

Seemed to happen a lot during cross play. PC players were experiencing more rollback than PS4 players.

my connection is real good, but i do get nervous about the netcode.

first SF game where my primary playtime will be online, and by a wide margin at that

I primarily play on PC and I've had mostly great connections. A couple rollbacks like the video here and there but it's nothing that wasn't present on the PS4 version at times.

The players could have been assigned a different delay setting for some reason. If Art is playing with a 3-frame delay and Justin is playing with only a 1 or 2-frame delay, Justin will have more frequent rollbacks because there will be more instances of the game having to rewind and "correct" what actually happened because there wasn't enough of a delay buffer on his end to hide it.

Now, I don't have a clue why that would happen. I'd expect their ping to be the same either way and for them to have the same delay setting as a result. But it's the only thing I can think of.

This was not my experience.

Maybe because Justin was streaming so his upload was getting nuked? It was a cross country match after all.

Some nice info on SFV :

First dlc character is Alex, released on March. New character released every month until September.

Spectator mode not available at launch

Trials will be post launch

Dlc character will cost 100 000 fight money or 600 zenny

PS3 fight sticks are compatible on ps4 for SFV

It could certainly cause a lot more variance and congestion, but I'm still not sure why that wouldn't affect both players if so.

Was Arturo also streaming, or not?

Well lots of grinding to do then and a little down over trials and spectator mode not being there at launch, though I'm patient.

As for the rest:

YEAAAHHHH!

Happy to see Alex so soon. I wonder if that shadowy image shows the release order. That would mean Guile is next right?

Blonde Fighter V continues.

The "labels" (that didn't seem to sync up right to some of us) were Alex Guile Balrog Ibuki Juri Urien right?

That's the order then. Urien "real" final boss?
