Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

Someone on EventHubs pointed out the fact, so I did some digging on the subject. It's weird, I always thought that was red paint when I was a kid (much like Alex's eye paint).

And isn't Sean 16 in this game & 19 in Third Strike? That's where I gathered the 3-year gap from. Not sure about Second Impact, but you're probably right about the 2-year gap between SFV & Second Impact.

Yeah I thought it was paint as well.

I have no idea how old Sean is, tbh. I gathered he was in his mid to late teens but I don't remember an age being specified.

Is that a night time variant of the New Zealand stage?!

If I recall correctly, Alex's shoulder scars in the SFIII games came from the fact that he wore his suspenders too much without a shirt (hence why you see them hanging by Alex's waist in the SFIII games). So Alex having suspenders in this game, which is supposedly about a few years before the SFIII games (probably 3 years away from 3rd Strike), makes tons of sense.

I didn't know that too. I always thought it was paints since it don't really look like scars to me. Oddly enough, I'm glad that they are paying more attention to details and timelines as well.

I found situation with Street Fighter 3 lacking a lot of veterans very good for Capcom and Street Fighter V because they would have more freedom with redesigns with the veterans that didn't make any appearance in SF3.

Yep, there might still be day-night-cycles like that first leak said

Incredible, if true. I'd be very happy.

The Alpha series also had many stages that changed between rounds (like changing the time of day or even crowds of onlookers gathering), and in general SF games often feature multiple versions of some stages (like in 3rd Strike or IV as well), so if would make sense to have this in V again even if IV didn't really go that far in this direction.

I'm guessing the airbase stage will also receive the nighttime treatment eventually, with how there was a thumbnail of it (with Rashid sitting on a rooftop) for the main menu during one of the betas.

Thanks for reminding me of that screenshot. This does indeed make it more likely that the Waterfall stage is not the only one getting different versions.

Does anybody know if there will be more stage transitions other than the Chinese street map. There was a point when the game was first shown where I assumed every stage would have something like this.

No one knows. Either they're keeping other transitions as a surprise for launch or they just canned the idea for other stages. I'm starting to think it's the latter since there's already retail footage and from what I've seen there aren't any other transitions. I could be wrong though.

Damn, this Alex variant will look like trash from that piece of art work. He will surely look better in game though, especially with the sweet animation SFV has. The design just seems off, and uncharacteristic of him, given what we know.

I'm really afraid I won't be able to earn enough Fight Money. I really suck at Street Fighter I still haven't won a single match online. :(

You can try to level up your game and if that fails you can drop the cash. The game should eventually place you with similar skill level so you're winning about 50% of your matches regardless of skill level so you night be fine though.

Is anyone able up parse through this and summarize?
Just some tidbits :
- play story mode to be able to get the alts
- season pass available on launch day, 6 chars with 6 extra costumes and a theme, dlc chars cost 6.000¥ individually
- unlock extra colors by beating survival mode, 4 difficulties for 4 different colors
- challenge mode via an update in march, will include trials (10 per char) and demonstration (non-interactive tutorials) modes first. "Target" and "extra battle" modes will be available at a later date, will make you clear special conditions through the fights to earn fight money/titles/costumes
Ex : fire 100 fireballs in a ranking match, get "Hadoken mania" title.

can't watch here - how do the lobbies work? Like MVC3, with no spectating?

also I'm guessing when they said you'd get enough for a character from SP content they also meant survival mode.

edit: nvm, you were missing a 0, lol. That's not bad.

So completing all character stories will net you enough for a character and a half? That's pretty good.

Yeah pretty good amount of fight money. He has not done survival so who knows how much we can get out of that. (if any)

Interface looked nice I think spectating is not enabled yet unsure since it's just two of them playing.

Gives you options like setting a PW, enabling character screen (otherwise I think it goes by what you pick as your preferred fighter), rounds (and first to whatever).

I'm now really considering double dipping on PC/PS4 instead of getting PS4+season pass. Alex and Urien are the only characters that interest me in the first 6 and it's looking like it won't be hard at all to grind out both. I've got a few reasons for wanting both versions, the most petty of which is urley steam unlocking via VPN, if that happens.

Didn't they say there would be regular (daily/weekly) tasks you could do to get FM? You don't have to win online to get it.

Holy shit, the launch story mode is 4 fights per character and done. No real end boss until the Cinematic Story mode latter this summer I guess!

People playing SFV.

He got 160K Fight Money for completing all character stories.

50 Fight Money for winning a ranked match.

0 for casual lobby matches.

Is it 100K for a character?

So ignoring points from survival or challenges after getting the first one via story modes, for the second character it's 40K/50 = 800 match wins?

That still seems like a lot for me. I hovered at about 40% win rate in SFIV
