Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

I'm thinking if Capcom had released this game in June

- 19 launch characters
- Full Story Mode
- Battle Tips (Tutorial Mode)
- Trials (Combo Trials)
- Daily Challenges
- Extra Battle (matches against bosses)
- Lobby with Spectating
- Character Specific Story Mode
- Survival Mode
- Shop

However launching in Feb we only have
- 16 character roster
- Character Specific Story Mode
- Survival Mode

As a huge SF fan I don't care and want my hands on the game as soon as possible. However I understand launching a barebones product even though everything will come free later may potentially affect casual appeal and critical reception for when the game launches. It can affect launch reviews as well as previews and reception from buyers.

Capcom has big plans for Capcom Pro Tour it had to lunch now.

Don't suppose anyone can find a link to Laura's character story on YouTube? I want to make a new Sean avatar from one of the cutscenes.

Pre ordered through Amazon last night. tbh haven't played SF since I "tried" SF IV but I'm on board with SF V because the exclusivity and seems more user friendly. Hopefully I don't burnout like I did on MK X but this should keep me busy till Uncharted 4!

Uhhh so in case any of you get an early copy and want to do story mode or anything before the game launches, DON'T.

The servers were down for a few hours and once they came back up all my Fight Money and EXP were gone but the story mode progress was not. Meaning I can't even get the FM from story mode again.

So, uh, thanks for that Capcom.

I was worried something like this would happen...

This is the main reason.

The assume, and I use assume not to be condescending but we don't actually know, that the protour and the e-sports section will sell the rest. Hopefully it will, I want street fighter as well as other fighting games getting on the e-sports bandwagon to be on the come up. I want the scene to exspand.

Damnnnn!

I might be able to grab a copy either tomorrow or on Saturday. Fuck I can't wait!

Me too! Could have had it today actually if I had found out a bit earlier (than right before closing time :-(. )that my local shop had it already.

Damn! I need to know which parts in Europe xD

Well, some shops in the UK seem to have and sell it as well. Local ones I mean, probably not GAME.

That....does put a damper on my enthusiasm. So Fight Money, a thing you can earn by completing offline, single player content as well, is fully server based then instead of stored locally? Quite shitty, because this means that any future server issues on their side might cause similar problems where people lose FM.

Hmm...that could prove to be problematic.

Not to damper your enthusiasm any further but you can't earn Fight Money offline.
The game straight up tells you that EXP and FM can't be earned offline.
So yeah, that's a thing!

Just seeing online via Twitter and Instagram some folks in Italy and Germany got it so far but its like, ALOT of copies out there. lol

Crap, AFAIK no shops or gameshops in The Netherlands break street dates, I mean I never experienced this with games that I wanted :/
cba to go looking for the game at random local stores.

Is anyone surprised by this? Stored locally = everyone changing their fight money value to 9999999.

For shits and giggles just refresh this link:
http://websta.me/tag/streetfighterv

It's a search for #streetfighterv tags on Instagram and you can see there's a lot of stuff on there from people who have the game. You might catch someone local that might of gotten the game? Either way it's something to pass the time. lol

I actually remembered something about the time when the beta wasn't doing all well and it was down for a while. Combofiend said something about people who were in the beta would be rewarded with something when SFV would come out or something along those lines. Anyone remember this and have any clue what the reward would be?

Thx for the tip!

Uh...why wouldn't it be a thing? It basically currency you're earning.

Why would you expect that type of info to be earnable or maintained offline?

Wait, what?! You mean that in the sense that completing single player content requires the game to be online in order to earn FM, or in the sense that previous info was wrong about completing story mode and such would net you enough to buy Alex?

If it's the former, than that is still a bit shitty, no?

He means the former. When I played SFV at GAME last week the console was offline and I didn't earn a single bit of fight money.

I'm really, really hoping that the release of the cinematic story comes along with the reveal that Dan is the true final boss, and includes him as a secret extra character.

For the record I'm not surprised by that in any way.
That was just for clarification!

Anyway, I deleted my SFV save and the story mode progress was reset?
But that seems really easy to abuse so they have to have some sort of checks in place for story mode progress on their servers.

Exclusivity is a terrible reason to be on board.

Yeah, thought as much but thanks for confirming.

Granted, that might indeed happen and does provide a good reason to require online, but I suspect this is mostly because of the PC version then, since on the PS4 such FM hacking would be more difficult no?

It was rushed out for the competitive scene. That much should be obvious.

You funny.

I'm telling you someone is going to have some shit to mess with fight money waning values with in like a couple weeks

Heh. They'll find a way.

If that advantage is available, they will take.

Capcom should be awesome and do an early release for digital preorders. So many things out in the wild already, why you gotta punish the people that preordered?

that's weird: you think capcom is "punishing the people" because street dates were randomly broken? and that Capcom can just unlock the game early as if there aren't legal agreements and red tape and all sorts of other impracticalities keeping them from going "YOLO everyone can play now"

I'm semi joking, and I know it's more complex than just flipping a switch. As for the "punishing people", it may not be the right words but it always feels odd when preorder people get the products later than the people who just went up to the store and bought it. This isn't a SF only complaint.

Game officially comes out Tuesday. So delete your save file and install data and do it when The game actually releases. Thumbs up.

There isn't a whole lot that companies can do because they have to send the games out in advance enough so that stores have them for the launch. And there are always going to be some stores that break the street date. But for big games like SFV in particular, they really can't just tell shops to start selling them. Capcom has tons of midnight launches planned for the game, so those all have to go through which means no early launch. But those early launches have happened. I remember that Tomb Raider: DE's street date was broken and Square just told stores that they could start selling their copies early.

Just caught up on the Character Stories that have been uploaded
(anyone have a link to Laura's?)
. Spoilers from here:

I must say, I'm glad the Illuminati have had zero presence in the story yet. I like that they're still working in the shadows, unseen, but you know they're still there. I'm still surprised that they're not even mentioned, especially in Nash's. But to be fair it's going to be amazing when Lord Urien arrives and fucks everyone's shit up.

Yeah. Would be better to keep some plots as a surprise instead of blowing their load early and end being unsatisfied in the end.

Just to be clear: is there no chance at all that you will still get FM for completing story modes when the servers go online officially on Tuesday, based on your save file I mean?

Just to make sure in case I do get lucky tomorrow and am able to buy a copy but don't dare to play any stuff that I don't wish to redo later.
