Canadian Gaming "Deals" and Discussion Thread 6: Sorry, We Can't Afford a New Thread

It's basically about having the game on cart more than anything else I suppose. Technically the game is cheaper on digital if you can find the eshop cards on sale.

That's kind of what I thought. I'd rather just buy them as I play them. I managed to pre-order the special edition during the rush yesterday and am now thinking I'd rather not spend $100 right now.

Thanks.

Has anyone had success in getting Amazon to change which platform a game ordered on the E3 sale is on?

I had ordered overwatch for PS4 but am starting to think PC would be the best bet but Im not sure if amazon would make such a change for me. Anyone tried?

You should be able to find a CSR that will do it for you, shouldn't be too hard.

Is it hypocritical that I pre-ordered this for 99$ plus tax even though I said I wouldn't pay 84.99 w/tax for the exact same game?

Whatever, pre-ordered anyway, thanks.

What is this game?

Pre-ordered!

Meant to post my reply in this thread, good price when conversion is taken into account.

Ive never heard of the game and I preordered it. Thanks for letting us know

Yup, base game is $84 so this must be some crazy price mistake for sure. Jump on it now. Look at all the goodies:

Will keep an eye out for the Vita version, since that is the one I want but I couldn't pass on this.

Thanks for the heads up, names! Unfortunately I don't check the PSN thread that frequently anymore, so thanks for posting it here :).

Yep, I wasn't happy with the $84.99 price of the standard edition, but I pre-ordered this just in case. Pre-ordering off the NISA Store would make this $111 before taxes/shipping.

No problem, I'm always lurking around here even when I don't post.

Still no idea what the game is, but if you compare this content for 15$ more to the content of the Bravely Second CE that is 60$ more than the base game...Square Enix please.

Agreed lol. I don't actually know what this game is so I'm not preordering. I don't think I've seen anything that has sold me on it yet. That Bravely Second CE is daylight robbery though.

yeah, I replaced the game entirely to Overwatch from FE: Fates Conquest

I see that LBX: Little Battlers eXperience for 3DS has price dropped to $20 at most retailers - worth it? Haven't heard much about this game, but I usually enjoy what Level-5 spits out.

I'm just curious about the pricing model for Fire Emblem.
From what I understand Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition has:
- Birthright
- Conquest
- Revelation (about a month early)
- Bonus art book
All for $99.99.

Whereas if I were to just buy one of Birthright or Conquest then buy the DLC the cost would be (according to the DLC chart: http://fireemblemfates.nintendo.com/dlc/):
- Birthright - $49.99
- Conquest DLC - $24.99
- Revelation DLC - $24.99 (in mid-March)
All for $99.97.

So in theory if I didn't care at all about the art book or about using space on the SD card it's pretty much the same deal if I were just to buy them as I beat them (which let's be honest, these games will probably take me a month or 2 to beat).

Is this correct?

Yep, there's pretty much no real deal-breaking difference between going with either option. It's a mix of wanting to own it physically, and if you're going to spend $100 on this non-sense might as well get the extra artbook and packaging, plus the Revelation DLC early.

Yup. There's also the bonus if you scored Fire Emblem for 30% off last E3.

The SE is just a convenience thing.

I decided to cancel the Amazon preorder for FE Fates. The rep wouldn't let me switch and I don't have the time to beg ad nauseam.

I'm in the weird position where even when both games are 31$ minus 30% for me, the SE is still a better deal.

I'll keep my SE sealed and play my stand alone games I think

Damn people if you don't want your Fire Emblem Special Edition I'll take one!

I was able to get a preorder in for the Pokemon new 3DS at a local EB thankfully. I hope they are good with getting everyone their orders since I am pretty sure I was one of the last spots available.

Keep in mind, getting both Conquest and Birthright physically is a bad idea, since you can't transfer saves. You should only get one of them, then get everything else as DLC

Never buy anything from asus, their support is godawful.

I'm serious. A support rep revealed to me yesterday that all of my GPU issues with my "replacement" GPU have basically been caused by sending me back my broken GPU with no changes made.

They told me to call back today to see what they could do about it, I get a cocky support rep who tells me that it isn't possible to see what happened with my previous RMA, as it doesn't exist on their system (they can't even confirm that I sent it to them with the RMA ID) and the best I can do is send my GPU to them. I give them my email and they say they're sending an RMA email.

3 hours later, no RMA email.

Oh, and did I mention that it has taken over a month to get this far? Every time I called them in January (which was 4-5 times), they told me that they would call back in a few hours or in the morning but never did so.

Sending off this 7870 and I'm going to sell some of my camera equipment to buy another GPU right away.

It's going to need to ship today for a bunch of people if they want to see it on Tuesday since Monday is a holiday in some parts of the country.

It's more because my complète collection (all 3 games is cheaper than the LE on its own so why not have it all?

Yeah no, that's fine. I just want to make sure people know going in that playing both games on cartridge actually screws you over a bit, instead of sticking with one cartridge and moving to DLC

Yeah Amazon's gonna fuck me over with my pre-orders. I have SFV, FE and Project X Zone 2 all releasing at about the same time.

Every time this happens, they put all 3 from *DIFFERENT ORDERS* into the same one and wait forever for it to ship.

They're getting real shitty for pre-orders. At least they were pre-ordered last year and I got them for cheap, but still.
