Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

I might be in the minority, but I spend 60 percent of my time in Street Fighter games playing vs CPU on the hardest difficulty. It's the best way to practice some techniques I wanna perfect in the heat of battle, without the pressure to perform a full match against a human using varied techniques like a good sport. If I wanna do ten matches in a row against Zangief, just so I can practice some weird zoning experimentation, vs CPU is totally the way to go. As opposed to training, a full match vs CPU just feels like a more satisfying way to spend my time and play out strategic gambits under match like conditions.

It's not a dealbreaker for me that SFV doesn't have vs CPU, but it's a huge disappointment for sure.

Well Well...

So they took off that dumb "console exclusive" huh?

ULTRA SFV XBONE CONFIRMED

Hopefully Capcom take that feedback on board by a fan in one of their presentation where for online patch swatches for non ranked you can select the character you want to filter to.

By shit-blast I mean complain. I don't get how complaining about this is considered bad
Complaining is not the same as shit blasting. Shit blasting implies attacking and spamming them. Complaining about something you feel is wrong is fine, so is countering a persons complaints, but don't be dick about it. This is probably an oversight that won't take long to fix anyway.

I'm with you on this but let's wait until the game actually launches. They might've patched it by then.

People actually used vs cpu? What purpose does that even serve?
Like I mentioned earlier, not every one plays or has the means to play online. And not every one has friends or siblings to play local multiplayer with, that's why they go with the option to play against the PC.

You're not in the minority. I feel the exact same way.

WOW. NOW I AM HONESTLY UPSET.

I'm legitimately thinking about cancelling my pre-order now. This is a big deal to me and I can't believe it's not in there. It's a standard feature.

Being from a different country means that terms don't mean the same. To me, shit-blasting means complaining. I have no intention of spamming/attacking anyone. It was an honest mistake and I'm sorry. Let's move on.

This is obviously a little rushed...

And I am TOTALLY okay with that. As long as things get patched in over the next few months, I would rather have the game now than not.

That being said... if it doesn't meet sales expectations or whatever, and they just cut support and don't patch in the things that should be there on day 1, I am very very very not okay with that.

Capcom will not let a mainline SF game die.

I also occasionally like to test the results of my time in the lab by going against the CPU before going online, but I never go on versus. I just set all the options in training into normal match settings, like normal super bars, normal health bars, setting the CPU difficulty at hardest and then reset the match . The only thing that is different is that at the end of every round in training, the super meters get reset. But using training mode as a testing ground against CPU is, IMO, better than using versus for all the options it offers (I did that in USF4 and SF5)

Practicing against the CPU general gives you bad habits. I mean it's still really dumb that the game doesn't have the option for it, but for everyone saying they use it for practice before playing real matches, it's probably hurting you more than it's helping.

VS. CPU being omitted is less important to me in a world where the game is launching with a Survival mode, in a game that's coming as feature bare as SFV though it's definitely odd. The criticisms I'm seeing here are very similar to the ones Skullgirls got with its decision to omit it as well, obviously the situation's a bit different because this is a $60 release though.

The only time where a single player mode REALLY hooked me in was with BlazBlue's Score Attack / Unlimited Mars. Just a bone crushingly hard gauntlet of fights with a buffed CPU that were in their "Unlimited" modes. There was a really rewarding feeling from beating a CPU cranked up that high that had access to tools that were far and away better than the ones you had access to. Never was good enough to unlock an Unlimited character myself though.

Street Fighter V OT| No Options to Select

This is the winner.

I feel your pain. Many times my ass was kicked.

I thought that's why they added the function to go straight from practice to online.
The vs mode is a different experience. Fighting the cpu in training mode is annoying as hell . They build up super/ultra really fast and they use it almost instantly so it's like every 12 seconds is a super.

Can't you just turn on AI during training mode for a ghetto VS CPU experience? Turn off health and meter regeneration. I didn't really explore SF5's training options fully.

As someone who doesn't play against the cpu (will try survival tho) I could care less but that doesn't excuse them for taking it off.

So why don't you

you can do that yeah. and it then cycles to the next round too, endlessly, and without pesky after battle dialogue IIRC

You can (I did this a lot during the beta), but as you said, it's a lesser experience. It's time consuming to go and flip those modifiers, and it doesn't feel half as satisfying as an actual match.

I quite enjoy the Shadow Lab options in KI.

I get the disappointment, but a standard arcade mode is worthless to me unless they actually do something interesting or novel with the AI or at least try to like KI does with the Shadow lab stuff.

Repackaging the AI you can get in training mode vs a CPU player or in survival mode into a series of matches doesn't really do much for me personally if the core AI is still dumb.

I guess my point is, I want them to do something better for single player. Hopefully a better single-player mode is in development.

That is what training mode is for though lol

STOP. SERIOUSLY. I don't wanna have the freaking bland as heck training stage on every-time as I fight a CPU. It's gonna get annoying and make training actually unbearable over time. VS CPU offers different stages and music and its a great way to use your battle skills when you don't want the stress of online or survival. Survival does this too apparently but its NOT the same feeling.

Are you REALLY defending taking out VS CPU just because you don't use it?

I freaking BOUGHT the Collector's Edition and the Season Pass! I had no idea VS Cpu wasn't in at launch!!!!!!!!!!!!

This makes me think they didn't actually "forget" to add it, but rather folded it into training mode as a feature. If you can just play endless legitimate rounds Vs. a CPU in training, that's good enough for me, but I can understand how other people saw the option's absence at the versus menu and thought otherwise.

Well

you can set the training stage as whatever you want

You can still do this VS CPU in training, but will miss out on meter management. I agree this doesn't "simulate" a real match though. I just don't find it fun when "very hard" CPU's psychic react to everything you do and grab you out moves that aren't humanly possible. You also are getting away with things because the CPU doesn't learn on it's own, developing bad habits.

To put in perspective, I told my fiance about Birdie's st.MK and said to her "omg this is so good I bet you can beat Very Hard CPU spamming this button" and lo and behold she did. A person would of realized, "hey they are spamming this button, I need to think of a way around this (jumps in)" and when that happens the evolving mind games happen which you don't experience if you play the CPU.

All very good points. That's why I don't solely rely on it. But it certainly plays a big role in my food pyramid of street fighter training.
