I think that will depend heavily on the games being released in any given month and if/when they do a redesign or another official price drop.

Still, outlook positive.

PS4 will not peak in 2015, and nobody expect it to do so that early. It will easily sell more this year, and true peak will happen when it gets entire year [or close to entire year] of $299 price [2017]. IMO, the only way it can peak in 2016 is if there is very large rush of initial VR purchases that quickly evaporates, leaving 2017 sales without any kind of VR HW sales. But even if that early "failed VR" peak happens, PS4 will not be in trouble if non-VR sales remain at normal levels.

PS3 reached its peak in 4th or 5th year, but that was anomaly since launch price was bad and great software arrived way after console launched.
 
Hum... I'd actually expect Feb to closer to flat YoY due to the trade-in deals last year unless I am misremembering the trade-in timelines for PS4 vs when it was for the X1. The growth YoY for peak vs. decline from lack in trade-in incentive should flatten pretty well.

I also don't expect SFV to move the needle much, but Primal may do decently well.

I never said it was definitive and I never said that exclusives don't matter at all. I simply said that most console gamers don't care about games being available on PC since many of them don't play games on PC.

Most console gamers simply want good, popular games to play -- whether exclusive or not.

exclusives and friends circle drive what system you pick up. i am not sure how all this somehow turned into exclusives don't matter.

I wouldn't put exclusives on the same level as friends circle. Current gen sales back up the fact that people simply want to play big name games.

There definitely are people who chose one console over the other due to exclusives this gen but they aren't the majority. With this in mind, I don't see how more games coming to PC (a gaming platform that most console gamers don't care much about) hurts in anyway. If the game is still an exclusive in the console space, then many console gamers will still view it as a (true) exclusive.

The games that are PS4 and PC only wouldn't significantly change PS4 sales if those games turned PS4 only (and vice versa). Same is true with this recent move with Xbox games.

yes for new ip or mid tier games it is beneficial to include PC to make sure it survives and has a bright future but bringing games like uncharted or halo over would affect console sales, there are a lot of pc players with consoles just like me and my friends and they will stop buying these consoles if everything starts coming to pc. I mean i would just get a beefed up pc and call it a day. i think there is more overlap between console and pc than you give credit for.

I doubt it considering the fact that third party multiplats are the top selling games on consoles with many of these games being available on PC anyway.

Why would so many people play third party games on a console (with worse quality) if many had acceptable gaming PCs? It just doesn't add up.

I wouldn't be too sure of this because SFV should get some Street Fighter fans to go out & get a PS4. it's a fan base that haven't had much of a reason to own a PS4 yet so I expect at least a little bump.

Allan being on Gaf for a long period should not be shield for criticism of his positions.

There is nothing wrong with liking Xbox and there is no mass persecution of Xbox fans on neogaf. But being so entrenched in your point of view as to not acknowledge competing evidence and accepting good arguments is wrong and counter productive.

Yeah gotta say the post history witch hunt thing I'm not a big fan of myself. Especially for a regular sales GAF member like allan-bh. We have a nice core group of us in sales GAF and I like to think we're above that kind of thing.
 
Looking at some of the previous pages discussing Blu Ray fees payable to Sony, wouldnt those fees be split between Panasonic, Phillips and Sony?

How certain are posters in their information of a $9.50 licencing fee per xbox sold? Dont the manufacturer (Lite On) of the BD Drive pay a lump sum $100000 5 year licencing fee to the Bluray Licencing office? I realise this licencing fee would be built into the cost of the drives, but when you are producing X millions of drives (that cost MS $34) that fee portion is tiny.

So Lite On (or any other Blu Ray drive manufacturer), not MS pays fees to the BR Licencing office which would then distribute these fees to Panasonic/Philips/Sony???
 
Yeah the personal attacks on bias isn't really needed, especially when just regular debate already got allan-bh to step down from his original statement. He already admitted he was wrong about Sony's success being the doing of MS, and not Sony, when he should have said that it was the doing of both MS and Sony.

The second statement is of course true, always has been and always will be. No console is released in a vacuum. But a console maker's actions are just as important as the inaction or mistakes of other console makers. Of course you have to make a compelling product; nobody just wins by default. There are way too many options for entertainment these days. If nobody makes a compelling console there's always PC and mobile to turn to.
 
Don't even get the point of searching through post history. Waste of time and you're searching only for what you want to find.

Imo, GTA VI launch is gonna be insane, i believe it could be bigger than GTA V ( only launch, not in the long term ).
But i don't think it Will sell many console... I expect GTA VI to release, Like GTA C, by end of the generation, when At that Point PS4 and XB1 have saturated the market.

I mean, look At GTA V. It sold over 35 million on PS3 and 360, but it didn't increased the sales. I expect a similar situation for GTA VI.

About price and Slim model, well, i don't see an official $250 pricedrop this year, but i believe PS4 Will be At that price duting Black Friday of this year.
 
Between allan taking away from sony, post history witch hunts, long debates on why this console is successful...i gotta say you disappointed me sales gaf!!! I looked up tp you guys like a kid does a super hero, this was the one thread where it always made sense, where we could unite and talk about Maus, Na's bad taste in games every time an rpg bombs and so on. Disappointed.

I am sorry, but a poster indicated that Allan has certain biases. How else is someone to confirm biases without reading past posts of said user. Using witch hunt in this context is inaccurate. I did not bring his previous posts into this thread nor do I want anything to happen to his account. I mentioned that it is disappointing behavior because it, in my opinion, is just that.

But lets please bring it back on topic.

PS4 is a beast.

And February has potential for an increase in sales with SFV making its debut.
Anybody want to make a predicition on SFV software numbers for the month.
 
Allan isn't even entirely wrong. MS complete mis calculation of the market played a significant role in the PS4's position in the NA market. Thats not even up for debate. Its not entirely that, Sony may have won the gen even if the Xbox One came out all cylinders firing but their mistakes had a noteworthy impact.
