Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

Now for stuff that actually worries me, I've seen some players like JWong and PR Rog complain about frame drops on offline versus, PS4 version of course. I want to see them for myself, but if that's true then that should be fixed ASAP. The game doesn't even look all that demanding, we have 30 fps backgrounds ffs.

Cool, have the pre-load option now, usually with EU it's not til 24hrs before release. Also had an email saying insufficient wallet/no card attached when it should all be working fine, though the account system seems to be undergoing maintenance.

I'm willing to bet you know very little of the depth you can get out of it if that's how you describe your play style. There's more than you think.

Maybe so, but I feel like my complaints are still valid. Just because I play a different way doesn't make it wrong.

Isn't that a good thing? lol

Lower skill floor does not make a game simpler, it just makes the game easier to get into.

Sure, to a point. There's simple enough for people to get into then there's too easy. I usually have to spend more time with the characters to get to know them. And don't get me wrong, I like the gameplay. I really do. I just have issues with it, which is probably blown up because there's not much else to do at the moment.

Dude, the game is probably the simplest Street Fighter I've ever played. Learning the characters doesn't take much, and I'm by no means a pro SF player. My style can be best described as synchronized button mashing.
have no idea what you’re talking about. Simple, does not measure a game’s depth.

Reviews matter little to fighting games fans.

Are sites going to update reviews after all this content is released for free? they should do that as well. So either way, reviews are not going to be a good barometer of how well made the game is. Regardless, their opinion matters little as the community is what keeps the game going and great word-of-mouth. This is not MK with WB backing it and going to see 2 million in a month. Capcom is trying to turn this into there own evergreen platform more than likely. it’s a different model, and one that many users like myself will get 1000 of hours out of even with the few modes it has. Your opinion is just your opinion, it shouldn’t get horrible reviews if the game is good. This comparison to what other games are doing is silly, what is SF doing, is it good?

I remember during at least one of the betas folks were complaining about slowdown in the training room. I think it may have something to do with their platform service in the background. They need to sort it out.

I'm not saying it's wrong. I don't think it makes sense to call the game simple. If synchronized mashing is the extent of your skills atm, that wouldn't have translated into finding any more depth in 4. Watch some recent gameplay of someone like Tokido using Nash. That recent Capcom event shows a glimpse at what's possible.

I own the game, I'm playing it, and it's just what I noticed. Not saying simple means no depth, but whatever depth there is I'm not seeing much of to be perfectly honest. Get the game for yourself and form your own opinions by all means. Mine is in no way any less valid, in a franchise where I've played every game since vanilla SF2 back in the day.

Oh yeah, totally. Disregard my comments just because I'm not a seasoned player of a game I just bought. Didn't say I have the gameplay completely figured out, but man am I already decently familiar with most of the roster quickly. SF4 had way more of a learning curve.

I'm down for more content and more characters down the line, definitely. I bought the game and expect my money's worth. As it stands, at launch this is very much unfinished. They should have waited.

If you judge a game by the familiarity of the cast through mashing, then VF might as well be lacking depth because you can mash it out with most of the characters sans maybe Goh.

What people are getting at is the depth of fighting games comes from discovering and applying the new tech that arrives. It's never Day 1, or even Month 1. It's a continuous thing, and even the beta showed us that (nerfs aside).

Mashing is like the worst barometer for judging a fighting game.

You think SF2 is less simple than SFV?

Yo what?

Slowdown during the betas was most likely caused by the game searching for matches on the background (which shouldn't really happen tbh), but that shit happening when you're playing offline matches? I hope it's not the case or that it will be fixed soon.

I've definitely found a lot more depth in 4. I've actually took my time to learn moves in that game. Same with 3. Hell, same with Alpha. I'm definitely giving it more time. I'm posting my impressions as I get them.

Already played over 50 hours of the beta and disagree with your opinion 100%. Just because the combos and execution are simple means little, there were still people that went beyond the surface of what characters could do. I mean, all you have to do is look at early games of SF4 when it came out, it looked terrible compared to what players perform like in Ultra.

VF is probably the deepest fighting game ever created IMO, it has a punch button, kick button, and guard button.

Yeah; when I was watching that other stream of a couple guys playing local VS and they got booted due to a disconnect, I realized they still have platform service doing active work even in that mode during "offline" gameplay. They need to get ahead of that because even besides the disconnect they shouldn't have any CPU overhead get wasted on pointless requests like that.

You found more depth in a day or two with 4? I don't even understand how that's possible. The move sets in 4 were no more complicated.

I feel like your comparing a game you spent years with to a game that just came out. I'm guessing you didn't bother with the betas? I've spent much more time with the game than you, if that's true. I'm flat out telling you you're wrong on this one.

Hey you guys disagree, that's fine. I really hope the game gets better with updates. Cause as fun as it is, I do find it to be shallower. I'm sorry if that's not what you want to hear. Hopefully you guys have a lot more fun with the game than I am.

No one's gonna get banned for modding character models unless they use a trainer or some shit to actually unlock the costumes for anyone other than themselves to see.

Konami can and will ban people for modding Phantom Pain on Steam... like banning you from using the game entirely- https://steamcommunity.com/app/287700/discussions/0/490123938426622619/

It's all going to come down to how tough the CapCops are going to be. A lot is riding on Fight Money being secure.

Ah, that may be it then. Huge oversight if true and one that needs to be ironed out ASAP.

It's not about what we want to hear. I think people are trying to get you to go beyond mashing in order to see that, like with every fighting game, you can't judge it on facerolling and knowing how to throw a hadoken every so often.

Guys I need help. So capcom confirmed that the release version of SFV will support PS3 Fightsticks just like MKX did for example. I just can't get it to work. I signed in, booted up the game etc. and then plugged in the ps3 stick but nothing. no pop-up no options (or at least I don't know where to find them) so if anybody figured this out please help. I'm just sitting here with the game ready but can't play I'm pretty sure this is what hell is like lol

Isn't it going to be included in the monster patch on Day 1?

Did you apply the patch? If yes go to the option menu and there sould be an option to sync the stick. If not download the patch. If even in that case there's no such option, wait till Tuesday and there should be another patch adding that.

Ok I'm a dumbass it's an in-game option. Just go to settings/options and then extra settings and there it is "legacy controller authentication" or something....let's gooooo come see me online High0nPCP lol

Oh I get it. It usually takes me a while to elevate my play so to speak. All I'm saying is I'm getting there pretty quickly, and I wish the game had more modes in order for me to get my money's worth so to speak.

Y'all had the beta for a while, so I'm sure you got more experience. But am I really the only one who feels there's been a step down from previous iterations, somewhat? I find that strange. I'll be sure to post impressions as I improve.

Wait until the servers are up and play people. If you win against scrubs, you will automatically start playing more skilled players, and you will more than likely get beat. It will be easier to understand once you see the performance of someone a lot more skilled than you than us trying to explain depth on a forum.

So today I finally managed to buy a CrapStation 4 and pre-ordered Exclusive Fighter 5. Dis gon' be gud.

Darnit! How the heck are you guys getting this game early?

Where’s the Mom and Pop game stores in New Jersey?

Shopto shipped games out a few days ago. My friend has his now. Shopto are the only place I know that ship early in the UK(Judging from the PEGI ratings, unless the dude is in another EU country)

Yeah I'll be playing online tonight. I used to do pretty well in SF4 against skilled players. Hopefully I'll see how this plays competitively in a better light.

Each difficulty has their own set of rounds:

Easy is 10
Normal is 30
Hard is 50
Hell is 100

If I have to beat each difficulty in order to get every character's extra colours, that's 190 rounds for each character.

That should hopefully keep me busy until the March update comes out.

Apparently, Hell doesn't unlock any colors, I guess that's just for titles.

I kinda dig the idea of hard to get color palletes. Makes owning and using them more satisfying.
yeah, that sounds awesome! It makes you really come to grips with all the characters, and that will make you a better fighter. But you have to put in work.

Sorry in advance for anyone I’m coming across to as harsh in this thread or others. As my avatar suggest, I am a huge SF fan. And, I don’t want SFV to turn out like VF5, the greatest game no one ever played. That’s not likely to happen at all, but the complaining is more than the praising, and after 8 years of Focus attacks and pre-canned setups, I feel like Capcom did a ton of things right here, a ton!

And honestly, it should just be written on the box, if you want all the modes and extra, can you please wait until next month? If you want even more than that, can you please wait until June?

I feel like Capcom can’t really get a break here, no one is forcing you to buy the game now. If it was $40 instead of $60, would it have been better to charge for the story mode? Just put in the work guys, this, like Splatoon has amazing written all over it.

I’m off to finish Gravity Rush before SFV hits, and to look for Mom and Pops with an early copy.
