According to some members of this board, yes.Wouldn't being on steam mean even more money and thus more games for X1 owners.

Alan Wake was one of the most pirated games on PC, when you put a game you really care about also on PC you want it not to be pirated especially in the first weeks
Microsoft just refuses to accept what PC gaming is. They fight against it every time they try to leverage their position as the OS platform holder. They see what is out there, they know what is expected on the platform but someone, somewhere in that company refuses to embrace the openness even though the other successful platforms on their OS thrive with it.
if that happens i will just quit gaming ... and with backlog of mine I will have normal to play even fr pensionThe future of all PC games being locked behind their store seems inevitable, it's only a matter of time. It might take 5, 10 years but it will, as long as games are made with DirectX.
So you'll be able to run Quantum Break on your phone? Swell!
It's not about that.People not wanting to open another/ app are pretty amazing. You click something twice, click once more, and then you have your game. We are incredibly lazy.
By being a MS Store exclusive, what exactly isn't possible ?
.Any type of executable-level modification or injection, as well as changes to data files in some cases.
So, say goodbye to
- Performance analysis overlays.
- Graphics injectors.
- Integration of useful external applications like Mumble.
- Community fixes or feature extensions.
- Freesync.
- In-depth modding.
- Support for popular peripherals like the Steam controller. (!)
- Some GPU features such as SLI or adapter switching.
- Actual exclusive full screen mode.
Calling someone a moron and not realizing that this is in the best interest of the company = ??? You know the answer.

It's completely strong-arming for the people who actually want to play this on PC. Microsoft are trying to use the carrot and stick approach to get PC gamers on their side, but they're beating them with the stick and trying to shove the carrot up their ass instead. This should have been an olive branch, but it's instead a monkey's paw situation where if you want to play the game on PC you have to jump through the bullshit hoops of the Windows 10 store and deal with a tremendous amount of functionality that PC gamers expect being removed.Strong arming them? MS is giving you two ways to play QB. Xbox One and PC via their store. Whatever the case they are giving you more then one option to play a game and that's more then their competitors are offering. I mean if Sony decided to released UC 4 on their own shitty PC app (if they had one) I'll gobble it up in a heartbeat!
Not offended by it, Xbox exclusive was never even going to come to PC and now we are getting it albeit only on the windows 10 store, that's called business ladies and gents.
So you'll be able to run Quantum Break on your phone? Swell!
Mac App Store apps can and are being cracked, despite being sandboxed like Windows 10 Store apps.
No one has really looked into cracking Windows 10 Store apps because it's just not been worth it yet I assume.
Not on your tablet, or your phone.

It makes sense. Every major publisher has their own platform.
It's not about that.
I have no issues buying games on GoG, Origin, Uplay or Battle.net

I understand that, and yes that is a touch restrictive, but you don't NEED most of that stuff. You can still play the game. It's nice to have bells and whistles, but the fact is you can get by just fine without it.

If only you didn't respond like a child. Look above you.Yes, it's absolutely about that and there are zero valid rasons in this thread posted so far as to why Win10 comes with a lot more issues than some additional clicks.
You got it!
This is generally my stance as well. Even if it's a sandboxed app, as long as it's solid I probably won't care. If they screw up the solid part ever they are screwed because that's when external tools come in handy and all hell will break loose. They are definitely flirting with disaster. As long as the port is handled right then I don't really care if it's on Origin, Windows store or whatever, if I can play QB without having dropping £299 on an XB1, then all the better for me.
You are not going to run Quantum Break on a phone. You can however run Windows & Linux games on tablets should you choose to. There are tablet / convertible options plentifully available, and chances are if you are a Linux user, you are probably capable of switching out Windows for Linux. SteamPlay is a gigantically more useful feature to many than Xbox One cross-purchasing could be (which isn't even available if you are a PC gamer for Quantum Break, only the other way around). Also, should Mac suddenly change stance or have a tablet / convertible come out that does use OSX instead of iOS, suddenly you will have access to all the compatible games; one of the reasons why people like to have PC games be future proofed / flexible with SteamPlay.
Of course you can if they are x86 and run Windows 10 or GNU/Linux.
If you are talking about ARM devices, nor you can run these games, despite being Universal Apps.

Could be, but look at Rise of the Tomb Raider for example, it uses Denuvo for Steam version so there is no crack yet, if they can crack Windows Store apps i guess someone would have already done it to bring Tomb Raider to pirates and not even having to deal with Denuvo, though they didn't do that, i guess if it's crackable it is at least pretty hard and perhaps not achievable in just a few months

Didn't knew that Activion, Bandai Namco, Sega, Take-Two, Square Enix, Konami and Warner Bros. all had their own mandatory onlineplatforms.
Mind linking me to them?
Freesync is out for sure, since I believe it only supports exclusive fullscreen at this point. G-sync could work in borderless windowed mode, but at reduced performance. How gsync and freesync are affected?
Remedy, I love your games. I will not buy your game in windows store.
Well, I guess you can call eliminating 75% of what makes PC gaming great "a touch restrictive".I understand that, and yes that is a touch restrictive

If people vote with their wallets I'm sure things will be reconsidered.

Let's pretend Origin, Battle.net, Uplay, GOG and Rockstar Social club don't exist.
If you don't like the Win 10 store, don't buy it. Simple as that.
It makes sense. Every major publisher has their own platform.
Words, how do they work?
You might want to actually read the thread. It's a mild inconvenience for heavy Steam users, nothing more.
.
You could have responded to my post and we could have a conversation.Calling you sarcastically out on your terribly uninformed and insulting post is acting like a child? Ok bud. Whatever floats your boat.
I am aware of the issues, I have Tomb Raider on the MS store (bought it cheap using the region thing) and is it frustrating? Yes. Is it game breaking? No, well not for me at least.
That being said QB will no doubt eventually move on to steam, getting it on windows store will just mean we get it sooner rather than later IMO.
You can if you create a psnow type service that's 100% based on streaming you can.
You could have responded to my post and we could have a conversation.
I understand why people are upset, I just don't agree that, as some have said, "fuck this shit". As the store grows, I'm sure these options will be available, but not supporting the store just because of a few minor details is absurd.

Driver being able to switch profiles per game is a vital option when you're using a laptop with Optimus and bad game detection, which in my arguably limited experience means 6 out of 6 Optimus laptops.I understand that, and yes that is a touch restrictive, but you don't NEED most of that stuff. You can still play the game. It's nice to have bells and whistles, but the fact is you can get by just fine without it.

A vast majority of users don't use FRAPS, or injectors and so on. I'm not happy with it, but I get WHY you can't as of now. It needs time.Freesync is out for sure, since I believe it only supports exclusive fullscreen at this point. G-sync could work in borderless windowed mode, but at reduced performance.

Agreed, I never said I'm 100% ok with what's happening. No exclusive full screen mode is pretty bad.
edit: reason posted right above me.
No, but it in no way hurts your experience not to. Read my responses above.I can't believe what I'm reading.
So should the ability to use fraps be considered a luxury now?
It's not an "as of now" thing. It's inherent in the platform.I'm not happy with it, but I get WHY you can't as of now. It needs time.
Now we went from port beg to store beg.
It's getting weird.

If Spencer was serious about regaining PC gamer trust, they wouldn't be doing this. Stinks of same-old arrogant Microsoft not understanding the market and thinking hubris will do the job.
