Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

I assume it'll be just like characters. You'll download the data for it but won't be able to access it on your own unless you purchase it. So your friend can purchase the stage and you can play against him on it provided he chose it. However, you won't be able to chose it yourself.
Characters are different . Even though your opponent doesn't own them you can still use the character to play against them . I'm curious if you try to use a stage your opponent doesn't have will it say you can't use it because they don't have it . Kind of like if you play a COD game and a member of your party doesn't have the dlc pack it is disabled for everyone. At least the older ones did that . I can see that perturbing some people .

If you don't have the stage purchased you will auto forfeit the match if it gets selected?

Wow...I'd feel for Combofiend if that was true..

Stages affect the game in no balancing way. They'd probably be available to all, but you personally cannot select the stage if you don't own it.
That's if we have to unlock/fight money the stages.

Like in SF4 (PS3 at least), you couldn't see alt costumes that you didn't buy, but that is because they didn't force you to download the packs to see the costumes. But because it seems like the game will be connected to a server most of the time then you will need the most uptodate version to play online, so stages and the like will be probably be patched in.

Probably true ..they'll just let people use it just not offline if you don't own it . However companies do make boneheaded decisions all the time even amidst seemingly doing everything right.

Better than some of the crap Seth had to deal with.

Ugh.. never heard that before .I'm not sure I even want to know . Seth is a nice guy..

I wonder how this dutch site can have all 3 pre-order costumes for their pre-orders? I guess they didn't distribute them amongst other retailers or something?

Do you guys know if 33ms input lag is too much for games like these? I was eyeing a new TV but am not sure how much it will hinder me with certain games.

Games are laggy today, 4 in a row, all UK to UK. Hope its not a sign of things to come as things have previously been pretty good up til now.

Is it 33ms in game mode? Mine is 8ms which I don't really notice. What's the TV you are looking at?

8ms sounds more like pixel response time than input lag.

33ms is not amazing by today's overall standards (about 2 frames) but still pretty decent by television standards (particularly among larger panels, which tend to perform worse). You'd probably adjust to it quickly but it may throw you off a bit if you move to a different panel.

Don't know if this was posted or talked about yet, but we're having a "pre-launch week-end" event here in France with pro-players explaining some characters and playing some matches.
Yesterday was "character tutorials", where a player would come on stage to explain the tools and gameplan of a given character, before doing a few matches against some people from the public. You can catch the archive here: http://www.twitch.tv/gaminglive_tv1/v/44524817 (it's a long archive, but it's because the event kept getting re-broadcasted afterwards). It's all in French, though. :/
Notable highlights for me were Will2Pac talking about Laura (that guy really is likeable!), Luffy trolling his Ryu presentation (the players didn't get to really choose the character they would talk about, and you can see he doesn't care about Ryu at all ^^), the Rachid and Ken presentations, and Alioune talking about FANG. That last part (at around the 4h30 mark) was especially impressive, as he only spent a few hours on him but he already has a *mean* FANG...
When asked about what they think about the game, players where quite happy and excited about it; even though it is a Capcom sponsored event, you could feel that some of them were being honest about it. For Alioune SF5 is basically SF4 with all the bullshits removed, and I think it was Cuongster who made a good point about the easier execution: this will make it so most tournament players will be able to play 3-4 characters at a competing level, and will allow for more counter-picks.
Today's event will start in about 30 minutes, on the same twitch channel, and will show casual matches and a small tournament (single elim, character locked) between pro-players. Alioune may play FANG...

season 2?!?

I think we've got a high chance of him making the roster, I really do.

Capcom seem to be focusing on the SF3 characters left-out of SF4 in SFV. Alex and Urien are upcoming DLC, Sean and Oro make cameos ect. so I think it's certainly within the realm of possibility.

Merci !

I remember you from Destiny, but unfortunately no way we'll be able to play SFV, connection between France and Martinique is really shitty...

I think they definitely will reveal stages down the line. Based on the official artwork we still haven't seen these stages yet.

They are also going to have day and night transitions for stages,

and I'm hoping that they patch in the stage extensions/enders (like the china stage) for the other stages.....

I'm really grateful you took the time to collect these pieces of art that show unused stages so far, or unused extensions, and put them in one post; I'd be meaning to do the same actually (as Fighting Gaf's resident stage fanatic it seems), but hadn't found the time yet.

I think I did read somewhere quite recently, I think in an interview with Dahlgren, that stages and costumes would also be purchasable with Fight Money in the shop from March onwards, meaning that they will have to deliver some new stages at least.

As for the day/night variations: these could be counted as new stages as well perhaps, ala the jungle stage in IV, but I'm hoping they won't take up seperate slots this time but that we can toggle between them (the time of day + weather info displayed on each stage when selecting them might indicate such a system).

The stage transitions, finally, are less easy to predict. I have trouble seeing them adding these as "final versions" of a stage so to speak and then making them available in the shop as separate stages. It would make more sense perhaps to simply patch these extra features into the existing stages as a free update, especially because it doesn't make much sense to have transitions and extensions in one stage already but not in any of the others from both a merketing and design / artistic viewpoint (as I've been complaining about for a while now).

One final side note is that they possibly could have swatted two flies with one stone by making the Shadaloo airport stage double as the Dubai stage, for instance by showing those skyscrapers in Rashid's art in the (currently empty) background and adding some sand dunes to it as well. It even has an appopriate color palette already I find, as well as the benefit that Dubai is well known for its airport and lay overs as well (making Bison's decision for taking it over seem logical).

Edit: while it is not the interview I read before, this is what Dahlgren says in a more recent Entertainment Weekly interview:
"Tell me more about what type of DLC is being considered after release aside from new characters and costumes, such as new stages, new modes or anything that might be of interest?"

"Our post launch content is based on characters, stages and costumes. Some costumes will be earnable only with Fight Money, and some costumes will be only purchasable with Zenny, which is our real money currency. Characters and stages will be purchasable with Fight Money or Zenny."

Sean and Q for season 2 please then get Maki and another Alpha character like Sodom for 3.

Does anyone know if the preorder costume for Cammy is only available on PS4? I bought it for PC and the only option for a bonus costume I saw was for Chun.

There might be legal issues concerning Q looking like Robot Detective K in the eyes of his IP owner (Toei), something that I still need to look into. It would certainly explain why Ono specifically told Harada not to use Q in Tekken x Street Fighter.

Sean & Oro are honestly much more likely of a duo for Wave 2 as far as unused SFIII characters go. But how would Sean's moveset come out as a 16-year-old who at best just started training with Ken (possibly behind Laura's back)?

He was kinda like a bonus character right?

He was a hidden fight in the story mode afaik I've never actually played through it.

I'm sure they would be upfront about there being possible legal issues in using Q again if they were scared of Toei. It's not like Ono isn't candid about the legal situation surrounding EX characters owned by Arika. A simple update in the design would probably help in regards to Q.

Give him a different mask and say it's a prototype or something.

Just make him a hybrid character again. Give him a couple of shoto moves and let him have a couple of Laura's moves (with his own flair to it of course).

I suppose that could work, though Sean would likely lean closer to Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu than Ansatsuken in Street Fighter V.

It depends how far the story advances by the time we get to Sean as DLC. If he meets Ken before he comes out (which I what I think is going to happen in the cinematic story mode) then I don't see why he doesn't have a mixture of both.

Although I agree he would have more Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu moves.

That's my point. Sean would have both fighting styles, but more of Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu. And I do agree that we may have Sean meeting Ken around the events of the Cinematic Story Mode (if he hasn't met Ken, already).

Yeah, I agree with you.

In Laura's character story it shows that Sean already wants to be trained by Ken seeing as he's caught looking at 'Master's Online Karate'. We see Ken in Brazil in the trailer for the CSM, so I think it's pretty likely we'll see the two meet for the first time.

Hey, remember you as well. :)
I've stopped playing Destiny for a lack of good endgame content at the moment, but will come back with new content.
Too bad we won't be able to play SF5 because of the distance. :/

Alioune playing FANG on the steam right now.

I don't want Sean to be like Laura, I can't get my grips around her, and I don't want to main a grabbler. But it's okay if he have some of her moves.

Is there a Street Fighter fansite or wiki somewhere, where I can read up on all of the stories?

I support this. Eagle is an underused design. Though I love Dudley as well.

I hope SFV lasts long enough so that they can just add all the warriors.

There are times where I wish for a SF game with everyone that's ever been in a mainline SF game but then I have flashbacks to Mortal Kombat Armageddon and I change my mind.

Was watching Max's SF3:NG video yesterday, made me kinda sad in a nostalgic sorta way that there won't be any further standalone SF games to look forward to this generation. I was also reminded of how much SF3 changed between 2i and 3S in terms of style and presentation (music, background art, HUD, overall "vibe"), and how such a shift is highly unlikely to ever happen with SFV. :P Oh well, whatever, not like that happened with SF4 despite that thing actually getting multiple physical releases.

It's just Dudley boils down to muh dads car, where as Eagle has a history with Guile and by extension Charlie. He also has a history with Shadaloo and Sagat, so imo put him in the DLC season that has Sagat too.
