Can a Win10 Store game be played through Steamlink?
I'm not sure but 99.9% chance of no.
Separately, ms enabled xbo -> win 10 game streaming and the reverse is likely under development for win10 store stuff.

I like having full control. Even the documents folder use games nowaday doesn't really sit well with me. I'm a PC gamer since the DOS days and I'm used to keep everything very tidy and organized.
Not being able to chose the folder woul bother me quite a lot.

It'd be a wonky workaround, but couldn't you just add something like your browser as a 'game' on steam to get access to your desktop and then launch the Windows Store game through that?
I tried streaming minecraft (the store version) from my pc to my laptop using in-home streaming. By launching another game and then using alt-tab to switch to minecraft I was able to stream it.I'm not sure but 99.9% chance of no.

So it looks like adding the link to steam is the only problem.
I was talikng about the technincal side of this. Look at GHG's question.
This doesn't really bother me.
No different from using Origin or Uplay.

I mean, really.
Honestly no idea.
I've been secretly hoping that Valve makes a Win10 universal application for steam store and streaming so that you could manage purchases, trades and recieve in-home streaming on XBO and Windows Phone (Continuum would be great for this too). But then I remember that Gabe is in charge and cry myself to sleep.
You guys should just make a different thread lmao.
There's two different topics in this thread, and they don't overlap for everyone.
The lack of fullscreen is not a bug. It's the intended behavior of the applications in the Windows Store. As of today, it's impossible to any application to use true fullscreen in Windows Store. Because of that I really doubt that's something that it's going to be fixed any time soon.
actually microsoft probably wouldn't allow a competing app store to be on their marketplace in the first place
I guess Microsoft is dreaming to make the pc a closed platform, software wise at least.
Valve sells games they publish exclusively through Steam? That's alright.
EA sells games they publish exclusively through Origin? I can deal with that.
Ubisoft sells games they publish exclusively through Uplay? I guess I can see where they're coming from there.
Microsoft sells a game they're publishing exclusively through the Microsoft store? I TOLD YOU THEY WERE EVIL! I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! THIS IS DEFINITIVE PROOF THAT THEY WANT TO END COMPETITION FOREVER.
This doesn't really bother me.

Meh, expected this and it doesn't matter for me. I don't have a Steam fetish so I'll be fine.
No it doesn't, not actual exclusive fullscreenLolwut? Minecraft plays fine in full screen, and has done since launch.

Whatever makes you happy. I bought Rise of the Tomb Raider on the Win10 Store so I know first hand what the limitations/downsides of the current store are and if they bother me.I'm losing my shit here.

Clue me in, what does that mean? Because I don't see a taskbar or a window when I play that game. When I launch it, it launches into full screen.
You also forgot that there's Valve games in uPlay, and there's uPlay games on Origin, and Origin games on uPlay. Good on you for not knowing jackshit.
Can't find DOTA 2 or TF2 on either of the other stores.
Can't find Battlefront or Hardline on either of the other stores.
So games they publish exclusively on their own stores. I apologise for offending you so.
I hate to be the one to have to point this out... but it's not your software. You buy the right to use it, not the rights to the software itself. If the actual software was yours, then they would also have no say in your redistributing it with whatever modifications you made to it. It'd be your software if you created it.

I should have pre-empted this, because I knew someone was going to bring it up (as you acknowledged yourself).
Yes, in the eyes of the law, it's technically "licensed". But that's not really relevant in this scenario, because no one is upset that the Microsoft Store doesn't let us sell additional copies of the games we buy.
Furthermore, I don't think that anyone is building up a collection of Video Games, or BluRays, or hard cover books, because they like having a collection of licenses that could be revoked at any time. Yes, perhaps technically companies have a right to do that, but everyone would lose their crap if that happened, and rightly so.
I wonder what would happen if every TV commercial was forced to say "License it today for $9.99" instead of "Own it today for $9.99". These products are advertised as ownable products, people think of them as ownable products, and we think of them as ownable products (at least, up until the point where someone tries to copy and resell it)
Dota 2 and TF2 are F2P games.
Battlefront and Hardline are both on uPlay.
But since the consensus at least for TR was that the store version preforms better (except for sli), is that really an issue?Except you can get Valve games on other store fronts. Do you still have to use the steam client? Yes, but you can still buy elsewhere.
When you start a game, it may take up the full screen butr that doesn't mean it is in fullscreen mode.
Borderless Fullscreen =/= Fullscreen.
Borderless Window mode still keeps your desktop open and maintains your resolution. Alt-tabbing made easy because nothing has to be loaded before switching.
Fullscreen mode reduces the Desktop resources in memory and can change your resolution. This means it's harder to alt-tab because Windows has to reload some resources, change resolution, etc. In other words it means alt-tabbing is slower and some programs even crash when they are alt-tabbed away from fullscreen mode but you have more resources dedicated to the game running (and things like AMD"s crossfire only work in this mode unless using mantle).
But since the consensus at least for TR was that the store version preforms better (except for sli), is that really an issue?
Edit: That is, if it really was a consensus.
Wait, what consensus? I've yet to see a single person that claimed such a thing.
There are two kinds of fullscreen, the win store apps seem to use what you would refer to as "borderless windowed". Regular fullscreen and borderless windowed both have ups and downs. I have not confirmed for myself, but based on what people are saying, Win store apps are "borderless windowed" rather than "fullscreen". They both look the same visually but have back end differences in how they run. For example, borderless windowed plays much nicer with alt tabbing, but exclusive fullscreen sometimes gets better performance. Idk why or how
Honestly no idea.

You didn't specifically touch on this but just to be clear there is no benefit for the w10 approach because actual non-app games give you both options, borderless windowed or exclusive full screen.
I definitely remember seeing at least one post in the TR thread by a person who bought both the Steam and WinStore versions, and found that the WinStore version ran better.
That's not really a consensus, of course. The problem is that not many people are going to buy two copies of the same game. If anyone at, say, Digital Foundry is reading this, it would be great to get some proper benchmarks!
Digital Foundry is probably among the only people who CAN benchmark the Windows Store version, since FPS counters don't work <_<

Heh, I already have XO and Steam versions but I gave the Windows version a shot just to see how it holds up.
Clearly the lack of exclusive fullscreen and an EXE sucks horribly, but I was surprised to find that it runs slightly better on my PC for some reason and the scaling works better for random resolutions. Not a preferred way to play, but interesting.
At this point I'm just watching this thread to correct this point
Dxtory works on all win store games
I know you can see a framerate counter in dxtory, but is not a framerate counter program. It is a recording application. And is not free.
