Street Fighter V |OT| No Options to Select

Hoping someone can help me out with a controller issue I'm having on PC.

I've got an older Hori Fighting Stick EX2 that I bought around the time SFIV came out. I'd like to use it with my PC. I plugged it in, windows 10 installed the driver for it, and I figured I'd be good to go. But for whatever reason, Street Fighter V doesn't recognize it, Street Fighter IV doesn't recognize it, even InputMapper doesn't recognize it. I've checked the device manager, and the controller shows up there, but other than that it's completely unresponsive.

Any tips?

Have you used it with your PC before? I had a similar issue with a Madcatz stick on my PC and it was apparently a compatibility problem with my USB chipset. No idea if that is an issue for any Hori sticks, but those are the exact symptoms I had with mine.

Well, grinding out the story mode for Fight Money for an hour, and it's barebones. However... I can recommend doing Zangief's and R. Mika's stories. In that order. R. Mika's story is hilarious if you do it after Zangief's.

I'll pick it up tomorrow, it's annoying that the Karin color I want is a Hard Mode Survival one. I would pay for an automatic color unlocker for all costumes... Hear me Capcom? With Zenny, too!

If you exit the game, yes.

Once you're in it won't kick you out.

Just a FYI

While using a VPN, don't buy anything off the steam store.

Thanks! HOT CHUN HERE I COME!

LOL, we are friends on steam and I was about to ping you to ask how you unlocked it to play! Haha!

Had my first online battle, and of course it's a Ken, and naturally I lose. But I lost even though it was a double KO - how is this?

FADC combos and one frame links are not for casuals.

I'm confused here.

You don't need FADC combos, nor one frame links to be good at SF4. Literally have good fundamentals and you're better than a good 50% of players already. Is the complaint that casuals can't do SF at a competitive level because it's intricate? Or that the skill floor is too high?

Because literally any competitive game is intricate. It's what makes it.. well, competitive.

And anyway, the tightest links in SFV are like 3 frames, so as far as that goes, it is simpler. Not that you said that, but just something to be noted.

You lose round one?

Double KO counts for both players. So, if you're 0-1, and it's best 2-3, when you double KO, you're now 1-1 and he's 2-0. Since he's at 2, he wins.

None at the moment. I used to spend a lot of money on the genre back in the 90s. The last game i put hours into was 3. 4 became a game about who could link all these convoluted systems at play. I used to love a simple mechanic or two at best and leave the rest of the gameplay to psychology and not predominately who can chain the most cancels and combos.

I have been wanting to come back to the genre for ages. Sfv and killer instinct werent for me

wtf how can you say 3 was even remotely simplistic

not until march, because you have to buy them in the shop using FIGHT MONEY TM
That seems really, really silly. Oh well.

Fighting tokens are online only and only given when you win right? So If I play 1000 rounds in versus mode with a friend I won't unlock anything? Which I suppose would make sense given you could use it to just grind tokens and titles otherwise.

It's incredibly silly because you can unlock colours just fine from survival mode. If they knew the shop wasn't going to be there at launch they should've done the same with costumes.

I don't like what they've done to Vega :(

Like, at all. Obviously going to need to get to grips with the changes, I'm getting absolutely destroyed online. Any videos on how I should be playing with Vega? Because shit isn't working.

You asked what was convoluted about SFIV and I gave you an answer. You do need to know one frame links and FADC's in order to compete at a high level in 4. SFV seems to have less of an execution barrier, which will hopefully open the series up to more casuals.

If you have literally never played SF before, you can learn a ton from fighting AI. Movesets, ranges, recovery times, combo possibilities. Maybe it's easy for veterans to forget, but before you learn the mental game, you have to learn how to make your character do what you want with 6 buttons and a bunch of special moves.

Imagine not knowing in your gut how far a character jumps or which air attacks can cross up. This is stuff that can be learned through experience in an arcade mode.

I suppose you're right. I used to spend a lot of time in arcade mode for the same reasons as you're saying. But as time went on, I just realized fighting the AI was teaching me bad habits, and I don't recommend anyone invest heavily in it, even new players.

I haven't checkes out the survival mode, but maybe it can be a good substitute for using arcade mode like you're talking about.

But as someone that has been playing SF for a long time and does still try to go for trophies and such, I vastly prefer the character stories. Even if they are kind of shit.

Not entirely sure how good/bad this is but he's someone I've been following since SFIV. Here's his BnB video for Vega.

Hope it helps.

A Vega just won a French tournament against all the best players, they even played ft5s and ft7s. It's in here somewhere:

It's straightforward. It's got a super bar and parries, that's it.

Was wondering if anyone could help with an issue that my friends having. His game is slowing down in training mode to like 15-20 FPS. Yet when he plays online it is absolutely fine, full speed. So it's not his hardware being incapable. Is this a known bug?

Anyone here actually from the south east asia region or Japan? Would love some online games with sum gaffers (when the steam version releases). I doubt I can play with anyone from the west still, even with the improved netcode.

I live in southern Japan, Kagoshima. I'll be on ps4 but wahoo cross play. I'll send a pm so we don't forget a few days from now. Game comes out officially the 18th here but going to try and beg for a copy today lol.

Is matchmaking on while he's in training? It can bog down the game while looking for opponents.

Got my PS4 collector's edition coming tomorrow. got my Steam version pre-ordered, pre-loaded and ready to go and got my RAP 4 plugged in. Took Tuesday off work.

I
Am
Ready.

Do we know how the ranking system works in this yet? Like, how many LP needed to advance from the rookie rank that everyone seems to start at, and what are the next ranks called, etc.

Sad because my PS3 TE Round 2 stick isn't working with the PC. Makes me want to double dip the ps4 version. Although that input lag problem makes me not want to.

I can play 3S okay, but I couldn't play SF4 if my life depended on it. SF3 suffers from the same phenomenon as AC+ where some people exaggerated it's difficulty to the point newbies think they're about to do rocket science.

Well, combo in 3s are easy but the pace of the game, the parry mechanics, the importance of spacing and recover on normal makes it a far less forgiving game than 4. But I agree with you, 4 is way more complicated than people thing, mainly because of os everywhere escpecially on wake up.
