Managed to get 2 matches in 40 minutes or so. I guess everybody is having this problem. The second match said it couldn't send results, but I got the fight money anyway. Praise Capcom.

It's not just the fact that she appears, but the situation she appears in.
There's clearly a fight scene planned there.

I assume the same for
Oro
during the Dhalsim story section.
As it is
he just kind of floats into the scene and then floats out
. It's pretty weird.

Yeah thats exactly how I feel. The way she appears seems to imply she has a role to play. Hope so she's a cool character

I'm having the weirdest issue. No matter where I press, it's registering as if I'm hitting battle settings. My JoyToKey setup is as it always is. Even using keyboard, it won't let me enter anything beyond those settings. WTF?

Edit: Fixed it.

I switched to x360ce and never looked back. Might want to give it a try.

Can we not change the time of day/variation of stages?! You can't tease Kanzuki Estate in the morning with no background characters and not allow us to play there. ( -__-)

Not a single fucking one other than that. They never bothered to make any other destructible stage elements since the first day they unveiled the game to the public. Some people won't even care, but I find it to be shitty.

It is indeed embarrassing that they decided to keep a monument to their failure to scope this project correctly. Maybe they'll add more of that stuff someday. If not they should have removed those features from the China stage for the sake of consistency. Although most people aren't going to care in the long term.

So should I continue with stories and surival or am I going to lose all my FM.

I fucking hate how I have to worry about this with a fucking video game.

Of all the things wrong with the game and its launch, THIS is what causes you to want a refund? Using a xinput or keyboard mapper is a minor inconvenience at best.

Especially since it was announced way in advance.

I've been defending Capcom's decision to release this early for awhile now but this sounds like a mess. The hardcore community is obviously going to stick with this game but I fear the mainstream is going to move on fairly quickly. Great job Capcom. Christ.

It's absolutely shitty. This game is really starting to make me angry. It's a rushed product, PERIOD.

Won't move on any quicker than people moved on from MK or other fg's it'll have it community. I understand launch is a mess but when the tournament circuit starts up and all these issues are ironed out the game imo will continue to have legs.

I'm leaning toward picking this game up tonight. I had a couple questions though. I don't know much, so forgive my ignorance. I skimmed the op and read the faq, didn't quite see answer.

- Can I play totally offline without ever connecting?

On a totally different note: has anyone tried a PS3 Qanba Q4? Curious whether my old stick will work, but since PS3 sticks in general work, I doubt there would be any issue.

Yeah, by EVO most of this shit will be forgotten about. Some people here are overreacting way too much

The first goal should be to learn a character well enough so that you don't have to think about which buttons do what, it becomes automatic. That just takes time and repetition. Could be a few hours, could take a few days, depending on your aptitude for learning this kind of thing. You can practice this in training mode, arcade mode, casual matches, wherever. Just playing and not hitting random buttons will get you this far.

The next goal is to learn when to use those attacks that you have now internalized. That's where watching replays (not just your own) and tutorials and guides can help in conjunction with playtime. Despite each character having a lot of moves, you can get by with a handful of them if you can make the right decisions.

It takes a long time to get for real good, but there are some basic principles that will take you from bad to passable very quickly. I thought this video was pretty cool. It was posted recently in one of the many SF or fighting game threads on the front page.

It's SF4, but it applies here as well.

nice, thanks

if you only plan to play offline, this game is not for you.

I fucking hate how I have to worry about this with a fucking video game.

I finished Story with 1 character yesterday in Offline mode (servers were down) it said I earned FM. Look at the title screen see FM = ------

This morning, I see I have FM = 10k.

I'm ASSUMING that everything is tied to Message Log as it says everything you've earned there Online & Offline, but I'm not sure and it updates the second you go online to verify it? idk

Damn. I must be one hell of a SF fanboy because I'm loving every second of this game. Sad to see it getting hate. :(

The servers getting wrecked on day one isn't even remotely surprising, but considering there's very little you can actually do in this game while you're offline, I can see why many would be frustrated.

if you only plan to play offline, this game is not for you.

Of course unless you have offline friends to play with.

And they have every right to be. This is an unfinished mess. It needed atleast another 5-6 month dev time. 3 betas worth of data collected for what? to have the same issues as beta 1 ofcourse. Only capcom lol.

lol Betas aren't for finding problems and fixing them anymore, they are just server "stress" tests. Where you stress servers with a teeny tiny amount of people and then act all shocked that the servers break day 1 when more than a handful of people play at the same time.

I dont see it as overreacting much. This is a $60 product that straight up feels like an Early Access title. The core mechanics are incredible and overall I'm enjoying it but in 6 months when this game is actually, ya know finished, it'll be far more worth its price tag

This isn't an offline game. Single-player content is shit. Don't buy it.

Mine works no problem, should be good.

After trying everyone out in training its down to either necalli or chun so far. Chun is all buttons, but Necalli is really fun to play as.

The game is fine. People just like to complain.
PS4's USF4 also had problems at launch and now it's fine and Killer Instinct also was "barebones" at launch and is now much better.

I'm up to Nash on the stories and I've done Ryu's Survival ladder on easy so I'm sitting at around 52,050 FM. I'm worried that if I continue stories I'm going to get kicked off the server and lose the FM I've earned. I'm just wondering if it's safe enough to go back on

The guy saying its the end of the franchise is overreacting.

Got on last night and could barely play, I just did Story Mode for kicks.

Seems the game is still not working consistently? I'll give it a day or so rather than trying to fight with it and get frustrated.

this is unrelated to the game itself, but why do people keep talking about early access titles as if they are not full price. Those prices you see on early access games are the full price. in fact most times they re MORE than they are going to be when its the final release.

its just something thats peeving me since yesterday :D

You can play the offline modes without being connected.

You can't earn fight money without being connected to the server, though.

And, there will be more SP content and characters added as time goes on. So, if you want that stuff, you'll need to connect online at those points.

I know it's gonna be barebones, and I'm kinda ok-ish with that. Does it at least work though? I'd pretty much just want some kind of simple training mode, some dumb vs cpu mode, and mainly local versus.

Edit:

Perfect. Thanks. :)

Thanks, that's good to know.

Did anyone here bought the eGuide? Is it good?

I bought the physical version which gives you a code for the eBook as well for free. along with a matted art print of ryu/ken. From what i've read of it so far it's really good. Prima and Brady merged sometime last year so it's basically the same style of guides that were done for USFIV, SFxT and UMvC3. Collectors edition eGuide contains a years worth of frame data and gameplay updates as well I believe.

EDIT - Pic of the artwork and cover

There's no actual vs cpu yet, but there's the story mode, survival, and training room cpu if you just wanna play against something more than a training dummy.

Training mode (which is more than simple, lots of great tools in there) and local versus are all good to go though.

So for all you VPN boys last night. Did your location reset when you turned it off? Mine says I'm still in Australia. :(

Not sure how to fix. I was hoping with the servers going down it would be fixed on wakeup, but nope.

Because how often is an EA game priced at $60 or $90 for those like myself who bought the Season Pass. I'm certainly enjoying my time with this game when it works but it does not feel like a full priced retail product at all. Not to draw comparisons but this game is priced the same as MKX at launch and the amount of content difference between the two is massive.

If the online worked perfectly I wouldn't care less about anything. I can deal with the oddity and sorta poor implementation of Lab Zero's driver, but I just want to mash online and scrub warrior. I can't believe that it was working fine for the last few days but on the day of launch it just falls apart.

Damn. I must be one hell of a SF fanboy because I'm loving every second of this game. Sad to see it getting hate. :(

Not surprising to me tbh. To the hardcore fan I'm sure they'll find enough to be content as the real meat and potatoes for that crowd is the online play. With the distinct lack of single player and offline stuff I'm going to say that turns a lot of people off from the game. Also wouldn't be surprised if there were just a bunch of xbox fanboys spamming the user reviews.

I don't see why you would ever lose FM if it's tied to your account and the server knows it. You are going to see a huge blowup if people's FM disappears/didn't get their FM.

Not everyone's highest priority in a seriously incomplete release, but have other PC players been able to successfully change interface/menu/text language as promised in the Steam store?

Someone mentioned changing Windows' input method editor (keyboard input language) to the desired target language, but that didn't work, nor did changing Steam's interface language. Or will this "feature" have to wait for an update (get in line) in order for there to be a Language tab on the properties menu within Steam like in most international games?
