Street Fighter V |OT| No Options to Select

I'm dying I'm having so much trouble activating CAs from the right, I can do it no problem from the left side -_-

I had that exact problem when I made the switch to fight stick last gen. What helped me was breaking the input down into 2 parts. Turn on input display in training and do nothing but 2 quarter circles for a while. Make sure your inputs are clean. Once you can do that motion clean and fast. Add the punch/kick to the mix.

I'd also suggest going back to the basics. Throw 10 hadokens on one side. If you mess up once. Start over until you get 10 clean hadokens. Then switch to the other side of your opponent. Repeat.

If you're new to fight sticks. Muscle memory is key. Keep practicing.

so is there any way to change the battle reset in practice mode from L3 to something else?

Its really annoying when using a controller and doing a super resets the battle...

Nope. It also sucks for people (like me) who don't have L3 buttons on their stick. No reason they couldn't let you set it to the SELECT button or whatever you wanted.

Someone clarify command grabs vs normal grabs for me please, because I don't get it.

If i try to command grab other players, their grab will beat my command grab ( i see the ex effect start, then i get grabbed out of it ). However if i try to grab a fellow grabbler with a normal grab, their command grab beats my grab, like...what?

Kinda of regretting getting the Collector's Edition. Don't think I'll ever set that statue up. But I don't wanna wait to play anymore. Seems like everyone is finding their while I'm just sitting here on the sidelines.

I'm doing that ATM :P can get ten CAs in a row with no mess ups from the left but I can't even get one or two in a row from the right. Just end up doing Shoryuken.

Based on this, it sounds like your first quarter circle movement isn't getting registered fully, so make sure you really nail the down movement at the beginning of your inputs.

I played some FANG last night and won a few matches. I think I'm just getting by because nobody knows how to counter his bullshit yet.

He feels super awkward. Is anyone good enough with him to give me some pointers?

Turn on inputs so you can see them if you haven't.

Slow it down to idiotic molasses slow on your inputs. Just do Down, down towards, towards. Don't even add anything else. Just do that 10 times in a row. If you have ANY extra arrows as you do 10 of these super slow, restart.

Once you have the motion down slow, speed it up to the normal speed you do it in a fight. Got that? Now add the punch. If you are seeing extra inputs at any point, then start from 0, slow it back down.

Still having trouble after that I'm unsure what to say. Slow it down, break it down, rebuild it back up.

I used to have the same problem! But then I got a tip that totally changed how I was thinking about it. Go to training and practice doing the critical art from your deficient side. Notice what action your character performs INSTEAD of the critical art, and that will give you a clue on where your inputs are lacking. Does your character do a crouching attack instead of a critical art? Chances are you're pressing the attack button too soon. Does your character do a standing attack (or even a jumping attack) instead of a critical art? Chances are you're pressing the attack button too late, or your quarter circle movement is slipping too far and extending into the up-toward direction. Pay attention to the negative feedback the animations are giving you and course correct accordingly.
Thanks all, really great tips. Getting the hang of it now, I was hitting attack too soon! Really appreciate all the advice :)

So, wait, some people are having issues where whole characters are completely disappearing from the select screen?

Remember when you guys were worried about the appropriateness of this thread title?

aaaaaaahhhhhhh, good times. Good times.

As someone who has played a ton of this character I can say your crouching MP into LK scissor is super deadly.

If you do a MP into LK Scissor, and they block---try it again right after. If they don't hit a fast enough normal or block again, then you are going to counter poke them into damage.

Standard combo:

Jump in HK or HP, Stand HK, Crouching MP, into MK or LK Scissor. (Does not work if you are in v trigger)

Cross up combo- Jump MK, Cr LK, Cr LP, Fireball.

On your wake ups where you KNOW they will do something-Ek Scissors or Ex Devil Stomp are great options.

In V trigger abuse devils reverse. That shit is a 50-50 on if you hit them behind or in front. If you hit it, confirm into CA If you have it right away.

Dash through fireballs.

Stand MK is a great footsie poke.

Crouching HP is your best anti air along with stand jab and st HK. Just depends on range.

That should give you a good set of things to work on and set up into your play.
These are good, but mostly help if you have a lot of muscle memory from IV.

J. MK, st. MP, cr. MP, medium inferno does more damage / is easier to throw an EX scissors if in V-trigger already. Also don't need to worry about charging.

Also, instead of scissors at the end of the jump-in, can do infernos as well. Use scissors if you want to keep them standing.

Also, after Devil's Reverse hits, you can combo into light or middle scissors :).

This works, but you don't even have to do this. There's the options to display your inputs in training room.

I might have the time wrong, dwfinitely not a long wait each time (~1min). But loading plus the fight takes some time.

I'm still getting 5+ minute searches between matches, just like this morning, really hope this isn't what I can expect to be the norm as a european, shit was fine and quick before it came out in the US. If the increased playerpool in other regions causes me to have to wait this long for each match, I'm gonna be very pissed

There's a ton a factors that could be affecting things. What state is your opponent in when you try to grab? How close are they? Which moves are we talking about specifically? You may be mistiming a grab on their wakeup? Or maybe they're in hitstun or blockstun? There may also be certain command grabs that are invincible to throws while other aren't. The easiest way to give you the right answer would be if you could give more details (a video of the specific cases in particular is the best option)

I have connection settings to 4-5 btw. Definitely no 5min wait times for me, I'm barely able to post each time between the fights.

I'm getting this same experience in the west coast, US. ~5 mins between matches, sometimes longer, and I am searching both platforms and 3-5 signal. I'm still wondering if this has anything to do with that VPN trick some of us used to get early access.

BTW if anyone was playin' against me an hour ago: I DIDNT RAGE QUIT! I GOT DISCONNECTED!
I dont rage quit i hold my L's >8(

This is good. Quoting this post every page for 10 pages.

man, honest question. if capcom is producing these and putting them on their own youtube channel why not just link to the videos in the game!
it partially solves the issue of no tutorials being in game

edit: eh nevermind. this is way too advanced for beginners who dont know what half of these terms mean

His forward jumping HK crosses up, and the neutral jumping HK is pretty good at stuffing attacks. Also, don't forget about his down + 3punches move where he lays on the ground. It's great for countering high attacks, and pretty crafty when used in combination with his command slide. You can also follow a crush counter with command slide -> throw for a simple punish.

I'm scrubby with him though.

PSN/CFN: xenoetry

Whoever wants to add me feel free, for wherever lobbies aren't fucked anymore.

It shouldn't be an issue. I did the vpn trick and earlier today I was getting matches in less than a minute. I am not playing right now, but it shows me searching in the area I am living in and not where I selected for my VPN.

Eww at those hashtags indeed.

All I could think of was "How sad..."

The edginess.

lol sounds like someone is still salty over a permaban

I heard my eyes roll when I saw that.

Yeah, I take my losses like a big boy too. Had some dude rage on me yesterday, I was proud.
Lmao, sad indeed.

It's not always about biggest damage---especially for Bison. Your Cross up is more damage yes, BUT it doesn't hit low. I'd rather sacrifice damage for that high low until I get better at hit confirm to go straight into the big damage.

As for the not ending on scissors... one of the biggest god sends in 5 is scissors leaves them standing. The forever pressure > knock downs for me. If you knock someone down they can delay wake up, roll wake up, quick get up. I feel like I'm the one always guessing instead of the other way around.

East coast here and I'm getting matches every 5 minutes or so as well. You might be on to something about that VPN stuff. It's still showing my location in Australia.

Tried to open a lounge, but no players come in to play. Starting to believe that i need to forward ports in my router settings.

Does anyone know which ports are used by SF V?
Thanks in advance.
