There's plenty of things you can do. If you can explain the situation you're having trouble with, I think most people in this thread would be happy to help.

Yeah, I know, seems the topic fairness hasn't a place in fighting games it seems, so you have to become ruthless and well "unfair" it seems.

Why is fairness a weird thing in fighting games anyway I don't get it.

That's a weird definition of fairness though. Waiting a few seconds for the opponent when you realize he is afk at the start of the match, that is fair. Actively gimping yourself by not using the corners of the stages and thus an integral part of the game? That seems more disrespectful to me in all honesty, implying you can beat the opponent even without pressuring him in the corners.

I feel it is only fair to play against the other player to the best of your ability and giving it your all even if he is a lower skill level.

So was your previous reply to me sarcastic?

Nothing is "unfair" outside of actually cheating (like hacking the game to give you infinite health or something).

I got it, if enemy is in corner just finish him off, I will remember that.
Never should have said anything really, sorry I will getting better and then I have nothing to bother about anymore.

Heh Mike ross actually didnt attack a dude in last night's stream because he was just standing there at the start. Then the dude bops him and hes like "I give you reapect and thats how you respond?" Lol

What is "fairness" to you?
Doing the same hadoken all the time or shoryuken the opponent to death so he can't do nothing?

The point is they can ALWAYS do something.

Is it unfair to deke the goal tender in soccer, or the goalie in hockey? Is it unfair to use feints in boxing? Letting someone out of a situation, when they are clearly at a loss as to what to do, is certainly merciful, but it is also a little condescending.

Let me put this another way... That corner pressure, which you think is cheap, seems to be a LARGE part of R. Mika's game. She was clearly designed to have excellent corner carry. So, if corner pressure isn't allowed, then there is a good chance that R. Mika is simply no longer a viable character. Or at the very least, her viability is severely diminished. She is weak in other parts of her game, she needs her strengths.

It's not even that, but you're calling simple strategies like using Hadokens over and over "spam". You can get around it VERY easily, lots of characters have different strategies to get around it and punish the opponent heavily for doing it mindlessly, especially in SF5.

No offense, but if you're serious, this is just you being bad at the game and not willing to figure out how to deal with it. This isn't some strategy that is cheap, it's been around since fighting games existed and tons of people figured out how to get past it.

Tons of people here are willing to help you learn to get past it if you're willing to stop being so stubborn.

Any example on what you consider unfair? I can't even think of something in this game yet.

Just hacking away when the enemy is in the corner and you haven't even a slightest chance to get out of his wall of attacks, but I know the answer to that already: Get good.

What's unfair? If someone is doing hadukens non stop then counter it. If you keep getting hit from jump ins then learn to anti air. If you keep getting crossup'ed then learn how to block it. The game isn't unfair. Id say the only unfair is when you are rank 30,000 and the game thinks you should go up against top 100's all day. That's unfair :(

Since it's being discussed... How does one deal with Hadouken spam? :P

I tried and couldn't. Quarter circle kick with Ryu got me past the fireball but immediately punched out of it once on the other side. Hadouken back would remove the fireball but no time to do anything else. Jump in and they would Shoryuken. :P

Vertical jump? You dont have to go in, wait for him to get tired of spamming

Except you can get out.

Shoryuken, V-Reversal, block, grab between their strings.

Whining about it without trying to brainstorm if there's counter plays makes you bad. This isn't a "lol get gud" argument, this is just us telling you that you aren't even willing to try to look at all your options and try to figure out if there's something you can use to counterplay.

If you're Ryu, try parrying at far distances, try neutral jumping, and try walking/dashing in between fireballs to get some space. If you slowly push the opponent to the corner, you'll force him to stop using fireballs. Learn which part of the air that Shoryuken can hit, and avoid jumping there. Be willing to use your own Hadokens to counter it and at the same time, gain meter so you can use it for EX Hadoken to win in the fireball war and/or use the meter for heavy damage once you inch your way in.

Two Karin questions:

- Cr.mk xx Orochi (shoulder) doesn't combo, right?
- Is there a trick to getting just frame Tenko into Orochi? Feels impossible, I just can't hit down punch any faster or I get Tenko.

It does.

QCF, Down(hold), k~p

This is never true and you know it. Once you admit that you have a problem dealing with it, it is time to improve yourself as a player and learn how to counter it.

Matches seem to take a long time to pop up right now on PC for both Ranked and Casual.

Also, it still says I'm in France from using a VPN to unlock this. I've got my IP here in SoCal, but the game still says France. Weird.

The mash input for legs translates very badly to gamepads. Happy they got rid of them,

Yeah there was a relatively early challenge in USFIV that required it and man I had the hardest fucking time mashing it fast enough to land it during the combo. It was so bad that I had to stop because my hand was cramping and getting tired.

I'm not whining, not sure were you get that from. But yeah I got it. Try counter the attacks if there is a possibility.

Walk forward and block. Alternatively, use Ryu's V-Skill as you walk forward.

Any Mika players that have consistent success with rushing down 1.5k lp or higher players? I just can't do it, it always devolve into me slowly walking forward because jumpins gets shoryuken'd, and dashes gets a boot in the face
You say that, but walking forward (and by extension pushing the enemy closer to the corner) can be one of a grappler's strongest assets.

Thanks! Will try that tomorrow.

Saying you haven't got the slightest chance to get out is considered whining to me.

If you want to get better, you can't immediately accept that a situation is impossible to deal with. Otherwise you shut yourself out from trying to think logically instead of emotionally.

The mental aspect is part of fighting games too. If I'm playing someone and they're getting frustrated with me getting them into the corner or using Hadoken over and over, I'm definitely going to keep trying to press that advantage. Don't let other players get to you.

Most people here are willing to help everyone get better. Post a replay and we can help you explore which options you have in situations.

It'll be interesting to see challenges for the characters. I can find some interesting combos, but most of them feel like they take meter to connect beyond 2 or 3 hits. Linking after 2 regular attacks is kinda rough without bar.

I haven't gotten in a match since day 1. It's been mostly story, survival, and training. I'm kinda annoyed, but it's just me playing it and I've had a pretty good time doing some random stuff. Nothing really jumps out at me in terms of combos.

Thank you I will try working on that, in Training mode or Sparring with people from GAF here. I will remember that advice,

How are replays recorded, when you are doing an online match or also in training mode?

You can also learn by watching other players, or even watching what your opponent does.

There should also be some beginner-level videos popping up on Youtube right around now.

You've already got some good responses, but I just wanted to add that characters are generally unable to launch another projectile as long they still have one on screen. When you jump over a hadoken, there is a not inconsiderable amount of time before the projectile leaves the screen during which your opponent will not be able to fire another.
