Do you have a source? Because they have yet to even unveil the price and structure yet, let alone a date. First half I could have sworn was speculation for the announcement of all of that. E3 would technically be in the 'first half'.
Gamestop didn't actually said it, it was their CEO and to be honest, they don't really care that much about PSVR like to have the exact release on his head, of course by not knowing the exact release date, he couldn't have said May or June. He wasn't sure so he took a 'secure' timeframe to talk about it and that's why he used the Fall.
As the days go by a launch in the near future seems less and less likely, especially considering that they did not outright deny the Gamestop leak of a fall launch.
The tested guys consistently point out that comparisons of PSVR to Oculus or Vive is Apples to Oranges due to their differences. They even go as far as calling it a bit of a "disappointment" when seeing Morpheus after the Oculus CV1.
Vive is adding audio and presumably this HTC communication software will mean they have a microphone too. You forgot the Xbox One pad.Competitively priced with Oculus Rift.
Vive $800
Comes with: Headset, 2 VR Controllers, 2 Tracker Base Station
Rift $600
Comes with: Headset, Audio, 1 Tracker Base Station, No VR Controller
When you add those to Rift, the price match evenly.
My thing about that is the content. With PSVR, there are games that will be enhanced by it, but not required. So when I imagine myself playing GT Sport, Rez, and Ace Combat 7, I can't see myself spending upwards of $300 for that kind of experience if I don't have to.
There needs to be THE killer app.
Of course the tech will get better and cheaper, but I dunno how early adopters will jump on.
Ofcourse experiences will vary. A recent Bombcast had the guys blown away by the recent PSVR experiences, even in direct comparison with the other PC headsets available.
All i'm saying is that all three headsets are usually mentioned in the same breath, all of them with their own positives and negatives. They all achieve what they set out to do and that is to offer immersive, responsive VR.
Talking down PSVR like it's this second-rate, barely-functioning VR product is getting a bit tiresome. It wouldn't have all these overwhelmingly positive impressions if it were.

HehehahaSony absolutely domination this generation is going to extend into VR, they are firing on all cylinders and competition being so weak helps them alot aswell.
PS VR has already won its Ps4 all over again.

Save VR Sony by pushing the mainstream of affordability. They did comment saying they were not expected to make money on the units, but the software approach like they used to in the past with console hardware.

Edit : HTC I still love you, I hope you can get some money from this <3
Wasn't too sure about the built in Audio for Vive. The Xbox One controller is not a VR controller, it is just a regular controller a lot of people already own and was a halfass attempt at adding a controller because the touch would not be ready for launch.Vive is adding audio and presumably this HTC communication software will mean they have a microphone too. Yeah this isn't a PS VR topic

I feel like $800 plus a $1500 PC is a bit hard to swallow for some fancy tech demos.
Edit: Nothing.

Mr Yoshida said the current version was "near final", suggesting there were further improvements to be made before it goes on sale, which is scheduled to happen within the first six months of 2016.

Early Tesla carsWill be interesting to see how far first adopter enthusiasm will carry the ball. What is the best example for comparison? Other prohibitively priced products eventually produced at scale -- televisions, smartphones -- offer much great utility than VR does.
Like I said. The biggest drawbacks for PSVR is that its running on a closed plattform. If I want to have experimental apps, I would go for the PC plattform. I mean Indies are huge on PC and some of the "tech"-demos already available are really great.

no, but it is nonetheless relevant discussion.
