Fire Emblem Fates Releases in NA Feb. 19th; $80 Special Edition Announced

Well obviously, but then the question is the same, why gamefreak wouldn't. I mean the cost of the SE is the same as buying all 3 versions separately anyway.

Because GameFreak is pretty adamant that the intent of the dual version aspect of the series is to promote trading, and if they feel an idea is contrarian to the trading aspect they reject it. It's the same reason they've used for releasing mainline games on home consoles, including the Virtual Console. The most we'll ever see is standard bundle, like they did with the Gen 3 remakes, as that's something that's in Nintendo's court as a publisher.

This is what Best Buy is telling me:
I am sorry to find out your Fire Emblem has not shipped. Let me look into this further.

I can see that order is already being processed. Due to number of same items being shipped, this process is being done by batch. I can guarantee you that you will receive your product by the end of next week at the latest. Hoping for your patience and understanding. Once the package ships out, we'll then send an email containing your tracking details.
Who knows if it's actually accurate.

After the debacle that was Awakening's launch though, there's really not that much room for "oops, we didn't think this one would sell". The first time I could forgive it - Awakening was a huge turnaround in sales. Unless this is pulling in like, double Awakening's sales, there's really no excuse a second time.
It comes to estimates based on preorders more than anything. Heck, many in here don't like preordering at stores like Gamestops which are usually used as a barometer by other retailers to gauge demand. Is why they were even giving keychains with all bundles. The ones the "fans" were getting.

Awakening's debut with shortages was 120k in the US (then a bit over 500k by the end of 2013).

They could've gone with twice that which would put it at around half Awakening did by the end of the year, so that's around 250k. But add the Special Edition (50k to 100k) but divide that between the other 2 versions.

But it goes back to estimates based on preorders. I mean, someone in here even said that his Gamestop got 0 special editions because noone preordered. Yet people were going there at launch to see if they got any.

People usually don't preorder because they assume stores will get copies anyway. But that's not how it usually works. Even less when it comes to Nintendo games and the usual syndrome of sequels on the same platform selling less than the original.

So Nintendo could also estimate lower sales based on trends with bigger releases, combined with low preorder numbers. In this cases there's no such thing as enough. Either they make over estimates and pissoff retailers with excess inventory; or just meet the estimates and fall short.

Well... ya, I think this is pulling in like double Awakening's opening sales if not moreso. Also the shipment to Amazon cannot have been small either given its constant hourly placement and plentiful stock.

The SE was mostly made for the core fans of the series. If you are new to the series and wanted to try this game out then get Birthright. If you want more, download Revelations in March.

Late reply to this but I thought the games were cheaper with the SE? (main reason I wanted it)

Same $80 price tag.

Buy Conquest OR Birthright $40 -> download whatever version you didn't buy at the reduced price of $20 from the eshop -> buy revelations at $20 from the eshop

You just miss out on getting the art book and pouch.

Same price, barring a discount with Prime/GCU.

Special edition was $80.

Birthright/Conquest are $40, but when you buy the second one digitally it gives you a $20 discount. And Revelation is $20. So it works out to be $80. The only difference is the SE gives you all three games on the cartridge instead of two as "DLC," and a small artbook and 3DS pouch.

No. Same price.

SE is 80$.

Buy the first game is 40$, the other path or Revelation afterwards is 20$ each.

Wow. Okay. I guess I'll get it then. I just hope best buy still has it in stock. Need dat 20% off

If you have BB GCU or Amazon Prime its actually cheaper though since its the only way to get the dlc with a discount. Mine was I think $64.

Sure, but if Japan is any indication then the other paths will also get digital discounts at some point or another as well.

They had an offer where you could buy your choice of either game plus a code for the second one for $60, and they gave you $5 off Revelation or the Map Pack DLC.

Other than GCU with the special edition ($64), that was the cheapest option ($67, w/ GCU). Might be dead though.

Edit: Looks like the physical + digital bundle was just a preorder promo, but it looks like you can still get the $5 off Revelation maybe. Comes out to the same price, since the code didn't quality for GCU anyway. $32 for first game w/ GCU, $20 for second game via eShop, $15 for Rev. $67 total.

Says in store only though?

I'm skipping town for a week come March... if that's when Best Buy gets it then I'ma be hecka paranoid with the game jus sitting there in store waiting to be claimed by someone else...

they'll protect my in store pickup if I do not pick it up until mid march, right?

Hoping the store actually received the game before next month though...

if I'm lucky enough to still be secure for one that is...

I was only talking about the shipment snafu for ship to home orders. As far as store pick-up goes, you have 8 days after it arrives at the store before they refund you and do who knows what with your item.

Sweet! Thanks for the info :)

I did this deal yesterday. The Bundle of 1 phyiscal + other as dlc comes out to $52 with GC because gcu only applies to physical goods. Yes this is a Instore Only promo, the $5 off promos for Revelations and Map Pack 1 can only be done in store (they had to get another employee to go to the end cap to find the skus to plug in). And when I was there, there was a bug where Revelation sku was not working so they had a manager overide and give me $5 off Birthright (i bought conquest physical) and they told me to preorder revelations off BB.com. So I ended up paying $64.17 (after tax and GCU) for physical copy of Conquest, digital birthright and map pack 1. Tack on $20 for Revelations and its actually a ~$3 cheaper than buying the SE + Map Pack 1.

I'm not sure if this promo is will still be active tomorrow however, since it was in their ad last Sunday

This might be an incredibly odd question to ask here, but it does pertain to the special edition.

Has anyone found a use for the 3DS carrying bag that this comes with, besides using it for carrying a 3DS? With the bag this edition comes with, I now have 3 of them (Club Nintendo, Zelda, and now this one) and I am hard pressed to think of a use for the darn things.

I have a good case for my system, so that's out. Anyone use them for anything else? I hate that they just sit in my drawer.

I use them for my Vita, Gameboy Advance, and Gameboy Color. I have also used them for Wii Remotes, Nunchuks, PS Moves, and Dualshocks.

Got my order from walmart today. It came in an oversized bubble mailer and the outer box was beat to hell. I'm was gonna toss it anyway so no biggie but I feel sorry for whomever does care about it and receives it in similar condition.

Well Gamestop basically told me to go fuck myself on mine, they fully admitted it was their fault it wasn't there but they're not doing anything about it. So this pretty much marks the end of me going to Gamestop, this isn't the first time they've lost my preorders and with all the other shit they pull all the time I don't think I could stand going back there.

If anyone is interested Buygame2.com got the U.S special edition in stock
It's $125 but it's still better than $400 on eBay

http://buygame2.com/en/product/24700
Damn, just caved and got it for $200 on eBay too, but I guess that's what I get for enabling scalpers (still better than the $250+ most of them are going for). At least $160 of it was money I had sitting in my payapl that I was inevitably going to spend on something really stupid. Plus bobo HK websites make me sweat, at least if shit goes south on eBay I have like a 98% chance of getting all my money back.

This whole thing got me so worn down, almost four hours total of sitting on the phone listening to gamestop ads is some real mind scrambling shit. I'm glad I don't have anything else to buy for the next few months.

Had incorrect card and now best buy cancelled order. I thought they usually email if they have payment issues?

Can anything be done here?

Would have to search the thread, but I am pretty sure someone else here had their order canceled, and support said they can't re-issue orders. It would need to be ordered again, which obviously isn't an option here.

You can try contacting support and raising hell if you give you a response like that, but at best you might get some store credit as an apology.

And hopefully all the people stuck in preparing limbo get their stuff shipped Monday and also get their store credit.

Yeah, getting it reordered would be a tall order, but I'd at least raise a stink and try to get some compensation out of it.

I ordered a copy from Amazon at about 3:30am Friday morning when they were taking orders for restock. I didn't expect much from it. I assumed it was a mistake and the order would be cancelled, but I got an email from Amazon yesterday that said it had an arrival estimate of March 10 - March 19.

Seriously. Is this site legit or not?

It's legit. I bought a copy of the English Asian Final Fantasy X-2 HD physical version for Vita from them about a year and a half ago.

What did corporate said? Not even a giftcard and the keyrings as a compensation of sorts?

Every time I see this get bumped I hope for a post about how they're available somewhere and I keep clicking this thread only to find disappointment. The dream is dead.

Yeah, I was the one who posted earlier in the thread with the same issue. I usually never have any luck with BB customer service over any issue, so I didn't bother with this one. I didn't feel like fighting over them with what little store credit they'd probably give me. Just decided to take this one as a loss, lol.

They said it was a glitch in their system and that they aren't liable for anything and that it's up to the store if they want to try and make it right in some way, but the store itself doesn't really have much they can do beyond maybe giving me a copy of one of the non-bundle versions of the game for free (not really since I already had $5 down, so $35), which at this point I'd just sell somewhere else. They said to talk to them on Monday and they'd work it out.

Dude I know right I sat on their stupid phone lines like 3 times only to get the same lady. Who couldn't help me at all. Sorry to hear about the loss of the game.

I woulda sold you mine for cheaper.

Yeah. Try to get something at least for the trouble. Even if it's just the preorder keyrings (and a DLC code for the map pack if you can push them further).

Still sucks that some retailers vary so much because of employees.

On December when I went to pickup my preorder of Xenoblade X SE I had an in-store preorder that I paid and a online pickup preorder that was free that I did earlier when they weren't taking preorders in store. Both were there waiting even when they knew I just wanted one and even when those were the last 2 copies remaining of the SE.

So far, I've been looking in a few game shop, and haven't been able to find the standard edition of Birthright, so much for not preordering ... I'll wait until they restock, they will probably have some by the start of next week, hopefully.

My BB order is getting ready to ship and I got a $20 credit! That's a fair deal to me. I also got an extra order in at Amazon when I was freaking out a little but I expect that one to ship in a bubble mailer and I'll probably have to send it back.

For anyone who had a damaged SE from Amazon due to the ridiculous bubble mailers they used contact them. I had one corner pretty moderately damaged and I emailed them saying I wasn't looking for a credit or anything and was just more disappointed they kept shipping this stuff in mailers and they gave me a 20% refund. I very much try not to be one of those people but I feel it warranted a complaint in this case since this keeps happening with Amazon, and this item is out of stock etc so they can't do a replacement.

People definitely need to be leaving poor feedback, at the very least. Retro games from Amazon Warehouse deals, Limited Editions, or any games with an outer cardboard box should never be mailed in a bubble mailer.

Yeah. Is the least that can be done. Even if it's no guarantee.

Some in here mentioned getting theirs from Amazon in boxes but still had some damage. While others with padded envelopes got no damage.

But they do need to stop sending this kind of items in padded envelopes.

Is this place Legit?
That's the upper limit on what I'm willing to pay for this, but I'm a little sketched out by it.

Ooof, $8 shipping.

Seriously. Is this site legit or not?

Sorry I should have mentioned that I looked them up on google before posting this here, they seems legit from the many comments I saw on different forums on the internet .

I took the chance and ordered the game, you can choose many options for the shipping like more bubble wrapping and stronger box and different speed for shipping (took EMS and insurance) .

Best Buy just cancelled my order wtf!!!!!

Payment verification failed. FUCK. I mean, we got chips and new cards and stuff so yea, that's so dumb. Why verify? Should be done at time of purchase..... trying to get them to repay now.

Went by Walmart today and the game was completely sold out except 1 copy of Conquest. Nintendo needs to fix the supply issues.

For real. It's bad enough with special editions, which are basically impossible to find but completely ridiculous for regular editions.

It's not letting them reprocess me payment for the Special Edition, ugh im so mad. Then she hung up on me idk if by accident or what.... im getting so heated.

Haha do you know what you have done. I imagine a great flood in your inbox. I'd buy it for 100 easy, ripped box and all.
