Sounds a little bit sarcastic no?
This was unnecessary.

No, it's the literal truth. So there are lots of situations where you can tell what kind of block you need.

If they're coming at you with a jumping attack you should block high because jumping attacks hit high.

If they're right next to you normally you want to block low since they're in range to hit you low, but there may also be times when they'll try to hit you with a standing overhead (hits high) which must be blocked high.

Typically you won't actually have time to react to the overhead attack quickly enough to change your block from low to high, so you really just have to take a guess and start off blocking high right away if you think they'll hit you high.

This also applies to throws. Your opponent might try to throw you on wakeup and you need to tech that throw if you think it's coming.

What tweet?

A bunch of pages back ,someone Tweeted at a Capcom person for better CPU stuff. They said "we hear you, we'll have more news soon/thanks for the feedback" or something of the sort. The original Tweet was talking about having absolutely no VS CPU, so I don't know where Capcom said they'd be adding difficulty modes to this Story mode.

Oh my god I can't fight Fang lol holy shit. Don't see them often, didn't know wtf to do.

Reposting tips I gave to a Mika player but some of it works for you too.
Trickster, remember to just IGNORE THAT STUPID V-Skill POISON.

I am a FANG player and I can tell you, too many people get frazzled by the poison. It doesn't actually do that much. No hitstun and the poison actually doesn't do much damage.

FANG is based off doing small chunks of damage consistently. so here's my advice ( assuming you're playing Mika)

(i) You can throw him when he's in his command dash.
(ii) If he went for any move that's not the light trap when he's close to you, counter with a command grab immediately.
(iii) Poisoned state as well as the trap vanishes if you successfully hit him once. Seriously, Dhalsim is so good against him for this very reason, every time he tries to lay down a trap, he can just teleport behind him and hit him, removing the trap.
(iv) You can use your EX Peach to hit through the trap.
(v)Try to jump as little as possible.

For Bison, use your EX fireball.

Also your V-Trigger makes fighting fang so easy. You can just dash behind him, you can use teleporting EX head stomp.

Ah, I see. Hopefully it gets added soon.

Ohhh ok, yeah I was panicking regarding his v-skill poison and jumping in a lot, which would then get me blown up by his air poison balls.

They didn't, if anything they'll add CPU to Versus Mode. Would be weird to do that in Story Mode.

Yeah, Alucrid already explained it, it is hard to distinguish between sarcasm or normal statements, so I thought he meant it sarcastically.
Thank you for explaining, I'm new to this stuff, and it is good to know when to block low or high.
Makes sense that I always had trouble to block attacks from Chun Li. I always used low block and not high block.

So what's the word guys? Online still pretty much region specific? Getting a ton of 40002 errors yesterday and I would prefer to wait till its back to beta standards for rank. Waay too few matches that go through for me to actually rank up.

v-skill poison does like 10 damage? Just ignore it.

It doesn't do any damage on hit, I believe

On hit, it just refreshes your poison state and gives fang a little bit of v-meter.

It's mainly the fact that the poison state is constantly chipping away health which is not that big of a deal but it also prevents white health regen.

For characters like Zangief who live and breath the white health with their V-Skill absorb, this hurts a lot.

You're probably thinking of this Tweet:
@StreetFighter @CassiusGrimaldi we need an arcade mode! Training and Survival are fine but I'm craving for some classic CPU.
@BurningHector @CassiusGrimaldi Hear you loud and clear! More CPU battles are coming soon, thanks SO much for the support!

For a beginner it is best to keep blocking low when your opponent is close since it's a lot easier for them to hit you low and typically they can't combo out of a high hit. So keep getting hit by those high hits occasionally until you feel like you have a sense of when they're coming, then try blocking them. Consistently blocking those high hits from a good player is something only experienced players can do.

so today's the day I get to start playing, got my stick and pc ready. cfn is Tesseract, East coast (Florida) with maxed settings / 60 fps.

see ya online, suckers

A few days ago I couldn't maintain 50 LP... today I broke 1000 without a sweat.

That's good advice, but it's not just when your opponent is close, but also when they are mid-to-close range, and basically any time where you don't know / are considering what to next. One thing I've noticed a lot with beginners is that they'll tend to just stand around during neutral, occasionally just outside of the range of normals, making it's easy to take a couple of steps and / or just sweep them. So if you are pondering what to do next, and are not confident in your knowledge of the range of your opponents attacks, and in your ability to react to them, then just block low.

I'm not good enough or ranked high enough to have encountered high level Karins personally, but there are definitely Karin users (seen on youtube) that have great fundamentals that do pretty okay using her without relying on her as you say, "gimmicks".

Yeah I know that. They're the 10% haha. I'm not denying that they exist.

But in terms of the character, when I was watching Wong and such play her, a solid Karin, most of his opportunities to open opponents up came from read jumpins (vs fireballs etc) or crossups. If that's her primary gameplan then it might be difficult to sustain viability long-term, especially on a character who doesn't have the best normals (hers seem just okay) and only 900 stamina.

I feel the same about some other characters, like Rashid. He doesn't have any solid strategies to open people up. Take Yun on Ultra for example, he has a divekick and a command grab, so that lends itself to a lot of variability on how he might approach, and guessing wrong in any one of those instances will open you up for significant damage. That's a good portion of the reason he ended up dominating in IV, but (speaking more generally now) rushdown characters don't seem to have as much flexibility in this game as in IV. That would be fine, but considering many of their options are gone, maybe they shouldn't have the stamina deficit either.

But I want some points, haven't been playing ranked for a couple of days.

Prepare for the errors then!

I just had a great match against a good R.Mika and it all came down to the last round and it was super close but he/she won. Right after her super I got an error, like wtf. Can't be the other player dc'ing lol

What do you mean? Your friends can just go into your profile and watch your replays.
No I'm talking about if I'm watching another persons replay, a higher ranked or pro player for instance I can share it along to a friend.

Instead of them having to navigate and find it.

Is the favourite list when in battle lounge completely broken or is it just me? It's always showing that everyone on my list is online, no matter what time of day. And yesterday I was in a party chat with someone who was in the middle of his own games, and on my favourite list, he was apparently in the menu.

Finally got one, now see me win and the results not be sent.

Why are you disconnecting me from my own lounge you fucking SHITGAME!

I got my ISP to change my NAT type to NAT2 but I think that didn't do shit.

Fuck Capcom.

Mika's j.lk -> s.mp isn't safe on block or something? Have not have anyone able to do anything agains't it before the match I just had against a ryu player, dude just grabbed me after blocking the jumpin lk evertime????

Edit - Also, how the fuck do you punish Karin's shoulder charge thing

P2W is you pay money to get the result/reward you want, either instantly or faster.

If the DLC shop comes online and you can't spend Fight Money on Colors, given how you have to unlock them (Colors for each individual Costume, not all for a specific character) as well as dumbass AI turning into Cheap Shits 90% in makes even less sense than it does now. It's a tedious, tiresome, frustrating chore. It's just bad design to go from one extreme to the other like, on top of disconnecting making you lose all of your progress.

And why would Capcom allow you such an option, to use fight money to unlock Colors? So you don't spend them on Characters. They want you to spend real money on the stuff they're charging for, so the game's design is going to center around trying to get players to break and spend Fight Money on other things first.

You're describing a free to play model, not a pay to win model. Pay to win models allow you to buy items with money, that actually has an affect on the win/loss condition, colours do not do that, regardless of how much you want the colours.
