How'd you handle Bison? I've failed 4-5 times on Bison with her and I only came close once.

The typical neutral jump fierce punch into stuff or cross-up lk was sufficient. Basically, the techniques that work for the first half of a Hard run worked all the way through normal, so cross-ups into command grabs, neutral jump fierce and even throwing a bunch because they didn't tech often.

I don't think you used a single light attack in that entire match. When a person is constantly in your face like that, you need to go to faster normals like cr.lp. You kept trying cr.mk or cr.hk, but those attacks are too slow when someone is rushing you down like that. Chun can combo into her EX Legs from c.lp or st.lp, so you could have been using that to get him off you.

Getting rushed down like that is stressful as hell, but you just need to relax. Also, like you said, stop jumping. It's a terrible habit, moreso for chun li, since her jump is so floaty. Her walk speed is faster enough and her normals are good enough that you shouldn't need to resort to jumping in with her.

Your main weakness here was that you let R.Mika have a 100% jump in rate against you. There were no anti airs whatsoever. Use Chun Li's very strong st.LK to deter the jump ins. Once you do the st.LK as an anti air you can go in for your own pressure.

In situations where you are jumping back, it's better to back dash back instead. Look back in to that footage and see where you could've dashed instead of jumping and how the situation would've been different.

Thanks a bunch guys, I know I need to work with my AAs, it's the thing I lack the most with her. No DPs makes it super hard imo

that st.lk hits people who are even trying to crossup? if so, I will need to be training this a lot more

Hah, just had my first rage quit - if you're a Laura player from France who just got his/her arse handed to them by a Vega, perhaps stick to casual matches ;)

because Gaf is the only forum in the world :p

Survival is hell. Is there any easy cheese out there for it? Ryu DP spam gets me to mid 40s, Using my own style with Bison barely gets me passed 30. Just want the gold trophy off it.

It won't hit them when they are crossing you up but against cross ups you need better positioning. AAs are part reactions, part predictions, part timing and part positioning. When you think someone will try to jump over for a cross up then try to jump up too and air throw them when you meet them in the air. Or do jump up HK to hit them out of the arc. If you are crouching you can then maybe do EX SBK but I am not sure how that will work, that move has always been wonky.

I beat Normal in one try with Mika.

It's Hard that's a completely different story with her.

I've gone through hard with 4 characters now, and Mika was unquestionably the hardest to do it with. She has nothing that she can cheese the AI with, and past level 10 or so command grabs are literally useless. Hard is a nightmare unless you have an invincible DP of some kind.

I've run into such a weird and basic execution barrier that it's actually scaring me. I don't think it's my stick. I'll try and upload a video later, it's seriously something so silly and stupid but it can cost me a lot of matches, I don't know what's going on.

Day 6

Matchmaking seems to have improved somewhat, was getting matches every 2-8 minutes today instead of 15-30 minutes like earlier this week.

Still can't set up battle lounges with friends though.

getting bodied by ultra bronze guys, I feel your pain now Gaf

For deep jump-ins bHK is the button to use.

Just got stunned and taunted by a Necalli player right before he KO'd me...winning the next 2 rounds felt good.

Does anyone know what those two icons are are for in your fighter profile that we can't highlight yet? And have they said anything about stats updating in the battle log yet?

...wait I dced from a person I was about to have a match with(not the server) during survival and now I'm back at stage 1??

I may be wrong

My stick developed a weird defect that made diagonal jumps come out anywhere from a little to incredibly late. Holding UF would sometimes make me walk forward. I took it apart and it looked like the rubber actuator had split and it wasn't hitting all of the microswitches cleanly. It was only a dollar or two but I ended up getting a new stick and buttons anyway.

So it took until Street Fighter V for me to realize that the Shoryuken command is basically 'forward step + hadouken'. It's only now, doing that, that I can execute it on command.

Jesus Christ.

Yeah walk forward, fireball has been a shortcut for a while. Though it you hold forward afterwards the fireball will still come out but reseting to neutral will pull off a dragon punch. Another handy shortcut is down forward, down, down forward, punch and that will pull of a dragon punch also. Very useful when pressing an opponent in the corner so you can get a quick in reaction DP out if they try to jump out.

Also this might blow people's minds but you don't need to hit all the directions to pull off a 360 move like an SPD. You can do forward, down, back, up and then punch and the move will come out without having to go near the diagonals. Don't even have to be in a circualr order either as you can do back, forward, down, up and punch and that should work too.

Got a surprising number of matches during survival. Load times still garbage, only recorded the results half the time, but at least I got to play some decently matched opponents.

terrible Ryu's and Ken's are the bane of my existence, all I do is fight them and I just can't quickly enough figure out just how exactly this one is playing stupidly compared to the last one

Back down to bronze again, yaaaaaaaaaaay :/

Most demoralising online game I've played in ages, feels like I'm making next to no progress and that's when the game isn't being utterly ruined by lag or rage quitters.

matchmaking dried up for me, havent had a match in over 10mins. I knew it was too good to be true earlier

PC definitely seems to be having more issues then PS4. Maybe it's the cross-play code? Aside from dc'ing I've been able to do both MM and BL since Thursday.

Gotta be some wonky PC port BS.

Tons of people have been complaining about the PC version after every beta, yet it seems like Capcom didn't fix much of anything.

Saw someone cheese through Survival Hell with Medium Shoryukens. I might give it a shot for Normal...maybe.

After getting my T.E. 2 stick I thought I'd have a go on IV Ultra on the PS4, how did it ever look that bad? I didn't realise that V was such an improvement until I went back to IV.

I've had to replace the micro-switches in my stick, due to one direction being wonky (I noticed that I would move my stick up, but not always jump in game). It turned out that the micro-switch would click but not actually activate unless suppressed beyond that point, which I found by going to training mode, and veeery slowly moving the stick around the edge of the gate. Perhaps doing something similar could help you pinpoint the problem, if indeed there is a problem with your stick.

huh PR Rog is playing Vega (on PC)? hes in 6th in the leaderboards. Tampabison in 5th, Sabin (dat Sim) in second. I dont know if the other players in the top 10 are pros or not

It'll work on Normal pretty easily. Just remember to mash it even when you're getting hit. A few of the characters, notably Bison, do unsafe "combos" that you can block during the middle of but catch anything else aside from an invincible reversal.

The MP SRK method will take you far in Hell but you need a lot of luck. I've lost each time in the 70's because the CPU would suddenly learn how to punish it.
