Looks like it's time to grind out survival for alternate costumes. With the server down it makes sense as you don't get EXP for unlocking colors for alternate costumes anyways

Little late but how do you get to see the preorder costumes? I had bearded Ryu and put the code in but don't notice a change and find if I can download it. Or does it just unlock it to buy once the shop is available?

When you select Ryu to use, highlight costume and select right on the D-pad to select Battle Costume 1...

Well you need restart the game after you use the code first, after that it's above the colour option when you select character.

I lost 500 LP today :( About half of them were close matches, damn, I'm not feeling myself today, and as I said earlier, it didn't help that I kept playing the same 3 people, who were obviously better than me even if I tried to put up a fight.

I think you have to login to the CFN server once to unlock (which is under maintenance right now).

You don't get anything when the servers are off, including the colours.

How long is the maintenance?

Estimated time is 3 hours. Given how these things tend to go, I'd bet it'll be closer to 5.

Whats your lp now? You are still a great player anyway.

Damnit, just got home and wanted to unlock some costume colors for a few of the characters...f'in maintenance. Oh well, might as well train for a while.

You're definitely beating yourself here more than these FANGs being better than you. Especially in the first game where you corner the FANG multiple times but then immediately give it up and corner yourself for a crossup jump short that he always blocks. You should instead kept your corner pressure up, make him fear the threat of a command grab that could come at anytime, and make him panic and try and jump out of the corner (make sure to keep an eye out for his command dash too. Many FANGs will panic ex command dash as soon as they're feeling the pressure). You're also committing too much with target combo xx lp peach. You do it a lot right in his face which is not safe at all. Practice seeing if you get the hit first before commiting to the lp peach. Mix it up a bit too with the buttons you press on the ground; her forward+hp is very good up close and leaves you at advantage to catch them pressing a button with a quick button of your own.

In the second game you're too hungry for the jump-in. You get clipped and impaitient and keep jumping at him. You want to approach and pressure FANGs from the ground (at least initially). Yes, he's got big limbs, but you just walk up and block, pushing him to the corner, until he whiffs something or does some stupid and you punish him. When you have meter, her ex shooting peach is good for whiff punishing thanks to armor. Be careful though, Fang has many moves that hit multiple times and will blow up predicatble uses of it. You have to find a way to make him scared of pressing buttons if you can. Whether it's whiff punishing moves with stand jab, stand mk, or even her slide if you think you can. I'd recommend going into training mode and learning the ranges of FANG's limbs and which ones you punish with what when being thrown out recklessly in the nuetral. Once you have a Fang convinced you're not going to be jumping in is... when you jump at him with a big 'ole dropkick!

Oh, and be careful when FANG is nuetral jumping after a knockdown. Reversal ex shooting peach will lose to his two hitting jumping hk every single time. Better to block (or ex air grab if he timed it wrong).

Honestly, you just gotta work on your paitience a bit!

Thanks for the tips! I know I'm terrible at hit-confirming. My execution is still bad enough that I'm so focused on landing the combo that I'll forget to actually confirm it before committing all the way, and I need to work on that. I also need to work on my cornered animal syndrome (in general my wakeup game on Mika is basically block and hope for the best, or tech and get blown up 99% of the time). I also rarely use f.HP outside of in a combo because the range is bad, and I honestly just forget. I rarely use HP at all, come to think of it.

Also, when are good times to use Mika's command grabs? I do it sometimes but honestly me using it twice in a match like I did in that first one is very rare. I feel like it's too punishable and if the opponent is doing anything other than blocking on wakeup, it's gonna get me blown up.

When you choose your character it's the selection above the color choice.

Change his costume in battle settings

Yes I see the option when I go to training but I don't have the option to switch. Only thing I seem to have is the default. I put the code in first before loading the game for the first time so might it just be lost to me?

Edit: Ah if I need to connect first then that could be it. I've only been getting errors when I try to so I was just practicing in Training. Once I can connect I might be good then.

Did you make sure if you actually have it downloaded on PSN? It's available even if you aren't logged into the server.

Just started playing for a couple of hours. I'm trying to play Karin a bit. Haven't played SF in awhile so my execution of moves is way off but having a ton of fun and slowly trying to incorporate more moves. Using a Madcatz PS3 stick and it seems OK although I wouldn't be one to really be good at noticing the lag.

Got the strategy guide. It's pretty dense unsurprisingly but I'm trying to take it in slowly. Nice book and the e-guide it comes with will update with the new characters.

I've actually won some casual matches with my scrub moves (and lost a lot too) so if anyone is one the fence about the point of entry being too high I wouldn't sweat it. There is fun to be had even if you are not a regular.

I tend to go for tickthrow setups with her throws. st.LK into either throw works pretty decently if you're close. They're also good off of resets from her target combo that wallbounces.

Has anyone here had 21004 error in full game (not beta)? I've never been able to use my steam account for beta, cause I could never log in. Then I bought the game, and I'm still seeing the same goddamn error!

Do you mean right now, or in general? Cause the servers are down for maintenance the next 3 hours, so nobody can get in.

Got back to 40,000s in under 2 hours of play... Easiest online competition ever... Lots of people down there that have no clue what a cross up is or how to defend it...

What is the best way to defend a cross up?

I play as Bison, so I am charging and holding db pretty much as much as I can. Then when I play against good cross up players they just jump in on me and cross me up and then combo. I am defenceless against that type of gameplay.

In general. I suppose it's a bad time to ask, cause the servers are actually down

When you see someone going to jump over you, stand and reverse the direction of your block... So hold forward. It seems counterintuitive, but it works...

There's probably a way in Training Mode to simulate getting g crossed up and defense to it... I haven't played around enough with the options to check...

I've tried checking but can't seem to find it though I know I redeemed the code.

You don't download it, it just gives permission to your account.

On PS4 go to

1. Settings
2. Account management
3. Account information
4. Services list
5. Street Fighter V
6. Should see Battle costume listed.

You just need to condition yourself to block the other direction.

As for bison specifically, his CA and EX qcb+p should hit cross up attempts right? I don't play bison, so don't know for sure.

You don't need to be charging really. You've got Psycho Inferno now so you've got a super you can use that doesn't require one. Even then if you can get a combo going you should have enough time while you're doing it to complete your charge anyway.

That is your issue. You are holding db too much and probably for too long of a period where people will just walk into cross up range and hit you before you react. You need to learn how to hide charges in your offense. Also make use of bisons pyscho inferno in combos as it allows you to be offensive without having to worry about a charge all the time and can help set up your offense on the knockdown to be able to get a charge without having to worry too much about them pressuring you.

You should be looking to get your crossup MK into st.mp cr.mp xx psycho inferno into your game plan as well.

Thanks, didn't know you could view things via that.

This is why I don't play charge characters... I find it too hard hiding the charge... :P
I suppose I'm the reason Capcom changed Nash from a charge character... ^_^;

I was checking the season pass and it comes with the 6 characters and one premium costume for each of them ? Is that all ? No premium costumes for the original 16 or anything ?

You input forward when they attack you. Since a cross up change sides, your forward will be understood by the game as blocking. If I am not mistaken, you won't lose the charge either.

The exact moment depends greatly on the attacking character, but a good point of reference is to input forward when the opponent is just slightly above the back of your character head.

Also remember that it's possible to trick with this. If you think an attack will cross and it doesn't, you will move forward and open your guard.

I don't play Bison, but it would be good for you to check his Anti-airs and see if some of them are useful against this too.

Been playing with my new Fighting Commander and my execution has gone way up. I can actually cancel into a Hadouken instead of whiffing or executing a HP shoryuken and getting punished.

Best £20 I spent in a while.

Aside from blocking you can also meet them in the air with your own normal.

Usually to cross up and combo they have to hit the normal late, which means they would lose in an air-to-air battle. So you jump back with your own air kick or punch the moment you see them jump for the cross up and hit them out of the air.

What way do you guys deal with guys who jump in and say hit mk? Do you just block as it's coming down or punish it?

It's always best to anti-air if you can, be it with a normal or special.

Any impressions from people playing with the new Madcatz fight pad? A stick is a little out of my range but I might spring for a pad, but to be honest I'm not hot on the look of them, they just look flimsy, but that could be deceiving.

I would hold off on doing survival until you're online, gives you a good chunk of Fight Money that can be put towards DLC characters. I think someone mentioned in this thread that if you do Easy, Normal and Hard and Story Mode you have enough FM for all 6 DLC characters.

I'm one of those elite season pass owners. F$ means nothing to me.

Someone should see if Survival without servers makes the AI dumb throughout the entire run.

Because I'd laugh and sigh if it were true.

Could someone tell me what happens if Sim's limbs come in contact with Fang proximity poison on the ground? Does he get hit, or does it go through? I can't check at the moment.
