Just drivin by to once again say amidst all the negativity, this is probably my favorite fighting game ever made and am absurdly excited to see it grow more!

Haven't been able to play nearly as much lately cause of work. Gonna binge this weekend.
Don't forget, this weekend is the first Capcom Pro Tour ranking event: Cannes Winter Clash. First time we get to see some competitive SFV outside of local weeklies.

yeah totally. This to me tips a frigging sweet ass balance amomg the three mainline sequels.

The netcode is pure trash. I cant believe someone green light it.

A match with something else besides 5 bars is unfucking playable.

Who thought that teleporting characters while maintaining the same speed was a good idea?!!

Tekken Tag 2 had this figured it out, day one, years ago.

Where do you live? I'm in EU, and the netcode during matches have been amazing for me. 300+ matches, maybe 5 that had lag.

And I've gone from setting my connection from 3-5 to just All because it's such a non issue for me

One criticism against SFIV was that it did not help to play other traditional fighting games. Fundamentals you developed in SFIV carried over only to that game.

Are things similar with SFV or has the game more in common with the older fighters this time? So transition to classic SF games could be easier?

People with 3s and SF2 backgrounds are among the best players right now.

As the first fighting game that i'm taking serious, I find it extremely fun. I expected to get bodied often but i'm actually winning way more than losing. I did put long hours into training mode with cammy though. That said, I have one huge problem with the game and I hope someone can help me out. I'm playing the pc version and I have this strange warping looking glitch that happens every time v trigger is activated or v skill is used if the character is standing on the right side of the screen. The worst offenders are the Nash teleport and yoga float. I can't find anybody experiencing this anywhere.

I have already tried uninstalling the game, changing drivers, switching from hdd to ssd, closing almost all my programs, unplugging controllers, changing graphics options and resolution, and removing overclocks. Nothing fixes it. Does anybody have an idea of what might be causing this? It's driving me crazy and killing my enjoyment of the game.

If I throw out a jab, would the other player be able to get a throw off of that jab if he timed the throw correctly? Just had a Ryu who throw me from what seemed a mile away compared to normally, just as I pressed jab

So my girlfriend found out that I'm a sf fan, so she randomly painted me a picture...

Gave me a good laugh :p

This is my first street fighter game and pretty much my first fighting game that I want to get into. Is there a video or tutorial online that does a good job of teaching or should I just learn it by myself by practicing a lot in tutorial mode?

OMG... worst night of SFV for me by far. Tons of crappy connection Battle Lounge matches, lag, dropped combos everywhere...1177 LP turned into 975 LP in no time. And insult to injury, SFV actually crashed with an error... I've never seen a PS4 game crash before. D:

My biggest fear is any of my performance tonight was on anyone's Twitch Stream... God forbid...

I've been watching CrossCounterTV's beginners guide on YouTube and find them really helpful

What's the downside of Karin's shoulder charge since it's safe and it can be comboed into as far as I can tell?

Regular version is -2 so it's completely safe. EX version is very punishable though. If you see Karin throwing it out a lot, neutral jump will blow it up.

I'm experiencing the weirdest behaviour on PC. Sometimes there's ridiculous slowdown in the menu and at the start of the match. The automatic graphics setting set everything to max so I set almost everything to low to test if that makes things better but it's even worse.

Good to know that they didn't fix the matchmaking after all that maintenance. I'm still getting matched with higher leagues and losing tons of points. Such BS.

Japan, where the internet connection is
not
bad.

Im sticking to only 3-5 bars. And something even with 4-5 bars sometimes happens, less but 2 out 10 matches are unplayable.

I could never fight it with Gief's air normals :|

Jump and hit him on the way down with a full combo

Just hope he doesn't predict your n jump and air spd you, that's what I do, or meaty headbutt on your wake up, gief died to the n jump game hard in sf4 but he has allot more tools to deal now which as a gief main I'm liking

Probably not many players left around your LP range? That could be it too. I realized competition in this game is tough. Even on lower leagues like bronze/super bronze competition is tough.

I currently hover around super/ultra bronze and I constantly get thrown into matches with Silver leagues.

I'm just getting salty since I always seem to get a stream of higher ranks right as I get close to the next league. -_-

I think that's fine. Unless the guy got like 1000+ lp on you. Then thats not cool. But to be honest I would rather play those guys and learn some things. You only lose like 10 or something for that. But from my experience The matchmaking seems better on casual. Always find people around my skill level. Also one thing I hate about facing higher ranked players in ranked is that they seems to quit on you if you are about to beat them. Especially if there were higher rank than you. All match you out think the other guy only for you to get no LP. They gotta fix that.

Hah, I wish I lost 10 points. I'm losing 55-65 even when they're above my league. I'd be more okay with it if I didn't tend to get a bunch in a row, which usually ends up decimating my LP.

Seeing how some players are in the 6k+ range, less than 1000LP difference is probably not that bad. You can definitely have a bad streak of strong oppoents, though.

That sounds wrong, my lower level opponents usually lose 25, I think.
I guess it's considering this whole range as same skill level?

Jesus fuck 8 matches in a row and I have the lower LP in every single one. Let me be the one against the relatively scrubbier tier for once.

My advice is play some casual games first. This game have no w/l ratio and you don't lose any LP. so play as many casual matches you like to hone your skills then play ranked. You will build confidence in playing casual and learn few tricks of your own. You got nothing to lose and only way to go is up. You can get better like that without damaging your pride :)

Weird thing with Chun Li while I was bored. It seems like her super does less damage with her V-Trigger on when I try to combo it from:

Crush counter HK, HP, super. (452)

This does more damage then:

Crush counter HK, HP, V-Trigger, Super. (436)

I don't know why since V-Trigger super and regular super both do the same amount of damage. It doesn't matter though I guess.

damn thats not right. I lose like 35 pts max but that's when they are close to my lp. When i play someone above my league i lose like 20 max.

The system is definitely messed up. I regularly lose 55-65 points to guys twice my LP.

So... I thought the servers were up? I can't connect for some reason.

I say some reason because I get no error code, the game just sticks me in offline mode after trying to connect for a few seconds.

Vtrigger counts as a scaling move. You are losing ten percent damage.

Vtrigger after.

Lol, got litterally one ragequitter during my first 300 matches. But have gotten like 3 during my last 15 now
About an hour ago I fought a Ryu on a 12 win streak that ragequit just as my CA was about to kill him. I hope Capcom can retroactively punish the behavior. It would be amazing seeing people lose hundreds or thousands of LP points.

Capcom's ranked system is probably the most punishing one of all online fighters from generation 7 and up. It is extremely punishing and demoralizing.

I can't win a single game online and can't beat Normal Survival, I'm trying to read stuff online and understand *how* to play this game but right now it feels a bit like digging through a concrete wall with plastic cutlery.

For example:
- Keep seeing the word tech
- Look it up and barely grasp what exactly it means
- I think one form of 'tech' is cancelling a grab with a grab input of yr own?
- Log into the game and attempt to practise it
- Completely fail and become baffled that some people have the reflexes to pull that off.

I swear so many moves in this game feel like they require you to be psychic. How am I supposed to react or interrupt to someone's attack when it's hit me and I've taken damage before I even recognise what they're doing? Things like Mika's downright-kick which as far as I can understand is a kind of air intercept move?
