Ha, last time someone tried that with me they thought they were being so clever.... When I had a full meter. I just taunted along and pretended it I didn't know what it did, then input the CA... Then got disconnected somehow. WONDER WHAT HAPPENED.

Yeah now that I think of it it was kinda symptomatic of a wifi warrior. Still don't feel good about it anyway :/
I was very surprised because every other match has been absolutely flawless. When it works "as intended" this netcode is glorious.
 
40002 error before a game loaded, and I doubt eu servers are under high pressure atm..


I bet the maintainence was just to let the Capcom personel get some sleep..


Edit, got a 40002 again in the middle of a round 1.. Shit is not stable thats for sure.

I would like the Ranked match lobby browser to come back like in IV. You could see the connection speed go up and down in realtime once in the lobby and decide to go ahead or not.

Tampa Bison hit Platinum at 7500. How the hell he did that considering is anyone's guess. I'd be okay with it if the system at least punished the ragequitters.

That's...two quarter circle forward!? Way too many inputs and it will give you a super if you have meter.

It works because it's got a motion forgiveness system, but technically that's a super motion and a critical art will come out if you do it on anyone that has a 2x qcf + P CA.

Yeah you're right, they're mostly lame. Mika's last 4 look pretty sweet. For most of the characters the colours don't do much. Laura's effect her make up and skin tone though. Vega's hair colour changes so his are worth checking out. Same with Necalli and Birdie. Birdie's colour variations are probably the best ones. Karin's are awful.

I actually prefer the new method, primarily for two reasons: Firstly, it was always a gamble whether or not a given lobby was actually still open by the time the connection bars were clear, so you just had to refresh, try, fresh, try again, etc., or host, and secondly, you essentially split the player-base in two by having one half hosting and having another searching for lobbies. Fight-request would (very) occasionally make you join another person's lobby, but that was the exception. Making it automatic also makes sniping people impossible, thereby making certain types of harassing behaviors impossible (in ranked mode at least).

What I would like would be for the confirmation dialogue to provide actual ping numbers, and show the country flag of whoever you've been matched up against. Both of those bits of information can help filter out matches that'll end up being unplayable.

I can only say it again: turn on manual accept for match making, it shows you a more accurate connection bar. I have set it to 4-5 only and the game still gives me 1 bar matches sometimes, which I then simply don't accept.
I have completely avoided laggy matches since I'm doing it like that.

i'm having a very trying morning and this has cheered me up, thanks.

if your friends already have a lead on you then you'll need to put in time. that means time getting your ass kicked, time learning why certain things will/won't work, time working on combos/punishes.

playing against the ai isn't going to teach you very much. the ai doesn't "get" mindgames, it doesn't get conditioned.

losing against real opponents will teach you something, but you have to be willing to learn and to pay attention. watching your own replays is helpful if possible, to work out where you're going wrong. try not to let losing get you too frustrated, just hold the Ls for now and improve.

Pretty much agreed. I just had Fight Request on so people came to me and that's when I could assess the connection.

it's probably the whole continent. i have my search set to 4-5 bars and get people from everywhere.
 
Really wish Vega had his mask on in his character portrait card and select screen. Dude is an uggo in this game.

Well that is kinda what I meant by him being bad choice. Though beating someone with him feels even better since everyone should know better haha. Probably still going to stick with him for a while but definitely should try out the others more.

It's not region locked, you can connect to everyone. Put a filter on your connection quality to make sure they're at least good enough and tun on fight request confirmation.
 
I cannot fucking believe that after a week and a full-blown maintenance there's not only still server issues but not even a makeshift dc penalty

can't believe this is so laggy for me I don't understand how every other game I play has no lag BO3 / destiny / division beta etc I give up with online play on this its like a slideshow for me

this is why i think the LP and league system needs adjusting, add some higher LP tiers at least a platinum, super plat and ultra plat league, then maybe a master legue equivilent above that and the make the requirements to get into ever league lower as a result and LP point distrubution more fairer as a result. Should help people get into their proper tiers then

There's actually a platinum league all the way to Hero. The game just came out but in time the better players will be in their respective leagues.

You'll never be able to do DPs on reaction with a motion like that. Much better to get the correct motion down now than get used to doing it wrong, even if it kinda works for you at the moment.

I tried switching to playing Laura half way through because I was getting so bopped by her. I definitely need to hit the lab with her first, she's so damn good IMO. Definitely would like to make her my pocket character or maybe my main if she proves to be super good. It just doesn't feel right to drop Mika though because I've put so much time into her already and I have fun playing as her the most, making hard reads and grabs with her feels so satisfying. I just can't keep it consistent, I either bop someone really good, or I get bopped myself or it's a close game.
 
I've been obsessively playing and enjoying this game but it is starting to piss me off just how ropey some of it is. Still taking too long to get into fights. My battle profile still doesn't show its stats, people are still Rage quitting when they lose and not being punished. Not convinced Capcom are taking it seriously. Surely after a week and all those betas it shouldn't be like this.

well in that case just lower the requirements at least for the lower maybe up to gold, and definitely make point distrbution better as atm its rather wonky

Playing against the AI is not training. Playing against the AI doesn't teach you how to do anything but beat the AI. Do not expect to be able to beat anyone because you played a bit against the AI. Your first few ranked matches are the beginning of your real training, analyze those matches and try to figure out/research what you could do to improve.

IMO it's the poor matchmaking that makes the online extremely unfriendly. I almost feel guilty when I get like 5-8 matches in a row against people clearly just starting out. Then of course it's balanced out by me getting into 5-8 in a row against people in a way higher rank. But it stops beginners from being able to get into a groove and having some sort of progression and it can get extremely frustrating.

Just stick to it I guess. Key to online is learning to block properly and also punishing.

Round 44 Mika is probably the hardest one. Birdie can be a bitch too but he can be controlled if you space your cross ups correctly. Bison and Necalli at the end was nothing compared to Mika.

Mika is impossible. Fighting Karin is the best in survival... Why can't it be fifty matches against Karin?
