Sorry shit Ken player that full screen Tatsu over and over wasn't working for you. Let the butt hurt flow through you as you rage quit into oblivion.

God damn losers.

Does anyone have any tips/strategies for playing Vega? He's currently my favorite non-shoto character (praise Capcom for mostly ditching charge moves), but I don't know what I "should" be doing with him.

What's funny is I haven't even ran into a rage quitter so far. Instead if I win a ranked match, the results don't get sent to the server but if I lose, well of course the servers work.

I'm thinking I should just play casual matches for the time being.

So what's the deal with Ken's Tatsus? Pre release people were saying his lk Tatsu was great and safe, similar to Akuma in 3rd Strike. But messing around with him it doesn't seem safe.

On the other hand, his hk Tatsu seems way safer than I expected.

walk forward a lot. you need to abuse and threaten with his walkspeed as much as possible. if they throw fireballs, use v-skill, if they get jumpy, deal with that, but always keep up the mental pressure of moving at them and gaining more ground than them. you need to think of gaining ground as a victory in itself, so anytime they're letting you escort them to the corner, that's at least one thing that's going great for you. I think of it like a separate/invisible meter, lol.

I'm having this weird bug now where the kick buttons occasionally don't work in my PS3 stick in a match so all I can do is punch. Anybody else encounter this?

According to frame data lk Tatsu is -8 and hk is -2, so yeah. Obviously spacing and other factors are involved, but those are the numbers I see.

I'm ready to get Alex!

Beat all the Stories in what...an hour? Those really are ridiculously short and the AI is basically brain dead.

Now I did two easy survivals and I'm sitting on 172K FM. :D

It's not all that if he's really going to be around 100K FM to buy.

I think I'll main Nash so far, his character is a hell lot of fun to play.

just played 456788 games against Noray, this fucking game when you are playing with peeps around your level is too much fun

NecNec might be a good character for me, he doesnt seem to need high execution for high dmg. And I can call him NecNec so

I didn't know Ken had a family. It's super nice, I really like Eliza. Have she ever been playable in a Street Fighter? If not, it's time to add her to the roster, you hear me Capcom?

It'd be really great if Capcom had stuck with their guns on the whole cast not being able to mash Lp or LK into combos.

Cammy is super annoying for the wrong reasons. She should get pushed way further back, and her damage of LP starters should be nerfed to the god damn ground.

/salt

Funny you talk about that. No she's wasn't a character because as far as I remember she always was pregnant in previous games.

Doing Ken's story yesterday I was like ''Well she finally gave birth.''

Seemed to me like she was being pregnant forever. :lol

Lol I don't think she's a fighter. She happens to be the sister of Guile's wife IIRC.

Has anyone actually posted on twitter about this rage quitting thing? I haven't run into it yet as I'm still a rookie and I suck at the game but I really can't believe an experienced vet like Capcom would let this happen from the start.

Just that they're working on it.

They mostly probably just aren't going to implement any punishment for quitters until the servers are stable. People would be way more upset for getting punished when the server drops than they are about just not getting points when people ragequit.

I think the easiest fix for ragequitters is to just say "if you get disconnected from the match in any sort of way, it's treated as a loss". But that would probably backfire right now with the server instability

Ken is a constant contrast to Ryu. Ryu is a wanderer, Ken has settled down. Ryu fights underground and trains in secret, Ken is the U.S martial arts champion. Ryu is stoic, hits hard, and reserved. Ken is outgoing, flamboyant, and hits fast and flashy. They are the best "best friends" in video game world!

I imagine they did it like that so in the event the servers crapped out they wouldn't have hordes of people upset that they're taking L's for the game disconnecting them.

Even Momochi is having trouble with the hard mode lol

Using that battle confirmation tech.

Both Hard and Hell mode survival are 0.1% on trophy stats, not surprised if this is what it takes to beat it.
I'm going to plat the game soon, those two are definitely the hardest, everything else just comes from playing for a while and making sure you save/watch some replays.

what exactly does +/- block mean? I've been seeing it a lately.

+/- on block means how many frames it takes you to recover from an attack into an idle state. If it's +3 frames, you recover 3 frames faster from attacking than person blocking recovers from blocking animation.

-3 frames means the opposite.

Kens lk tatsu is still hard to punish but you have to use it as a max range poke or to close distances and get in safely. At 3 frames it along with lp Srk is Kens fastest move. Lk Tatsu can be used to whiff punish very effectively.

Yeah, I really like the dynamic between the two.

Are Guile and Ken friends too, since their wives are sisters? I always thought Guile were a villain for some reason, maybe it's his hair that gives me that impression lol.

+1 on block means you recover from your move 1 frame before your opponent. So if you both mash a move with the same startup time afterwards, you'll win.

-1 is the opposite.

In SFV a lot of jabs are +2 on block, so jab(blocked), jab is a good "frame trap" because there generally aren't any 1 frame moves in SFV(outside of something like gief's super) and anything your opponent tries to push after your jab will get beaten by the second one.

I get bopped playing as him. I can't open people up. Claw off all the time as I don't see the point of claw really at all.

Mashing cr jab into a confirmed lk crystal is great. Fish for his MP HK target combo into Ex off the wall izuna drop for big damage. You can set it up with cr mk, then into target combo as it all connects.

You can even do cross up LK into crouching MK into target into ex off teh wall izuna OR you can change that for V trigger into super.

Claw combo that's worth doing if you want to get back into non claw is a Jump HP/HK (your choice) into stand HP into CQF punch to take claw off, into crouching MP into MK crystal roll.

You can get up to 3 crouching jabs if you are close enough into LK crystal. Timing is tricky sometimes.

Don't do random off the walls for shits and giggles. Remember his super is also an anti air so if you have it locked and they jump, let it rip and punish them.

If you can't open them up and they respect you to not be mashing jab, then you can do cr LK into command grab.

Your only option on wake up is block, or dash towards if they go for cross up so you end up out of the mix up.

Where can I read these frames? Is it in the Training mode?

Good Games Chronospherics, I really have a hard time dealing with Rashid and really needed that practice! I also need to hit the lab again.

Strange that the connection was so rough in spots, no idea why.

If a move has + on block, it means that after the opponent blocks, you have a little advatage, at least you may block incoming attack, or make a quick attack. If it is - on block, you can be punished after the opponent recovers from block.

When it has a number, that number is the frames. +2 on block means that if you have an attack that has 2 or less frames to start, you can use it before the opponent can react.

Generally, light attacks are + on block and Hard attacks are - on block

Well my PS4 has that issue where it turns itself off and on whenever it wants.

Yep, near the end of Survival Normal.

FFS.

Yeah it got odd in places.

I think I play a pretty safe Rashid, not so jumpy and more respectful than most that you will find online.

By the way, you can punish my running eagle kick with a dash after blocking it. That's really important to know because it actually deals 50 points of chip damage, which is insane, if you're not dealing with it. It's -21, so you have enough frames to dash then do cr.mp into a cancel of your choice.

I wouldn't normally do it frequently but you wanted to learn the matchup so I thought I would give you the opportunity to learn to punish some things that were unsafe too! Especially as eagle kick (or whatever it's called) is probably the go-to move for every bad Rashid online.

I also think you should probably put your v-skill to better use, but I guess you may still be learning that side of the character. Generally the v-reversal just isn't worth it.

Good games though, thanks for playing with me. You're actually the best Karin I have played, I have not played a lot of Karin's and the ones I have played just spam the faux-mixup gimmicks.
