Too slow:

Tap PS button
Mash X to restart SF5 application

Drop faster AND get restart SF5 in the same motion.

That is PRO TIER material right there sir!
Amazing! I don't know that I have the manual dexterity to pull that off... D:

I don't think Daigo, the Beast, himself could defend against such a move...

Anyone want to critique my noob ass? I'm hot/hobo Ryu.

You seem to build your gameplan around specials. You have a tendency to go back and release your fireballs. When you feel you need to go on attack you jump. You also go for the heavy hits.

What I think you should improve on:

1. Start learning your buttons. Medium punch and kick are very important in this game.
2. Start thinking on your situation in the stage. You might be giving too much space for free.
3. By learning your buttons you should also learn to attack and move without relying on jumps.

there's a lot of resources out there for new players. kind of sucks that its all over the place though.

an actual in-game training mode will be nice if its decent.

re: Mika, I hope somebody picks her in the upcoming tourney. As I currently understand the game, I think she was overpowered when her mic charge was initially shown, but it's nigh on useless now. I mean, Fang can poison you at 2/3 screen, Ryu/Nash/Bison can nullify projectiles at full screen, etc with v-skill. Mika can ... beg you to hit her for like 15 pts more damage IF you successfully land a grab before your opponent (who knows how this works) hits you even once? Yeah, .... considering she's suspect at best on wakeup, I miss femcee Mika.

A question to anyone that has any Karin combo knowledge:

Maybe 20% of the times that I do my usual V- Trigger activation combo, St. HK on block or hit -> V-Trigger activation -> Cr. MK -> QCF Punch for rekkas, I'll get a command dash instead of rekkas, taking away my complete offense and in the worst case scenario, making me eat a full combo because of my unsafe dash.

I've been in training mode going through this combo time and time again. It'll sometimes come out, but the key display shows that I haven't pressed any kick buttons after the QCF motion. So what gives? Why is a command dash coming out if I'm pressing only punch after that cr. MK? Has anybody had the same problem?

It's driving me insane, it doesn't make any sense to me.

It's not that they are better... it's that they never lose ranking points because they quit if they lose.

That's true. I don't even want to play guys that are long win streaks anymore. Not because I think I'll lose, but because I know they'll probably rage quit if I win.

I never thought her v-skill was good, and ya one of the worst if not the worst.

Even when the damage buff was okay, it was such a risky move with low chance to payoff.

You definitely don't wanna be throwing fireballs from too far where he can react with that move. However, since it's a charge move, as soon as you notice him moving forward, you're safe to throw a fireball. Of course, you also don't wanna be throwing them when he has super.

All normal versions of the berserker charge are unsafe (-6). If you block one you can punish it in many ways. Target combo is an easy one. St.MP > LK tatsu > Super, if you have full bar, is very painful.

It's true that Necalli's normal will beat Ryu's on paper. I think the ideal range here is just outside his longest buttons, like st.HK, where you can throw fireballs and he can't just jump or berserker charge on reaction. Treat your fireball like a poke. Don't be predictable and vary your timing.

Once he starts respecting the fireball, you can get closer to him and start using your other normals. That's kind of Ryu' gameplan in every matchup, I think.

A lot of Necallis I've seen like to dash in to start their offense. Stop that with st.mp. It's a safer move to whiff than cr.mk and can lead to big damage if they just run into it.

Necallis like to do cr.mk > LK stomp, which they can confirm into super. A lot of people don't know LK stomp is slightly unsafe (-4) and needs to be spaced correctly. Move in close and block one of those, you can punish with st.LK > LK/MK tatsu. With super, you can punish it even if they space it correctly.

I've had a difficult time meating Necalli because his jabs are so fast. If you're also having problems with that, it pays to go into training mode and make sure you have the timing of your meaties right.

Awesome this is great. Thank you!

XDondy. Had a 16 win streak but played like ass. Didn't DC though but I was sus.

Meanwhile, 5 star only and mega lag. K then... Might just drop this game for a few days (ha, so I say!)

thanks, im usually more grounded but was panicking a lot and that's why I posted because I know I was doing stupid crap. So, as Ryu, do I have an ideal range? I usually jump back because im afraid of what they will do and am trying to see how they react. I feel safe further away but, as Ryu, where should I be?

Thanks for the advice

All of a sudden, my performance has gone to shit. What gives? I was getting a perfect framerate at max settings, now it's running like shit even at the lowest.

I've heard that if you fuck with settings it can cause a compounding performance issue. You may just need to restart the game to get that to stop.

It's completely ruining the league system that's been put in place. I'm not fussed about points as much as I am missing out on fight money and just as a matter of principle.

Yep. As anticipated, rage quitting and no consequence towards it makes the league system a real joke. Any game with a league system worth talking about does the right thing when it comes to rage quitting: the rage quitter loses and the opponent wins, with points awarded and taken away accordingly.

With SFV, it's not even possible at this point because the network is so wonky, so players who didn't intend to quit will sometimes get disconnected. It's hard to even tell if someone rage quit or not sometimes. It makes Ranked matches kind of pointless right now.

Anyone want to play my Chun Li?

I'll invite you.

I haven't played anyone here yet; I'm available. My CFN ID is FluxWaveZ, if that's needed for invitations.

I restarted my computer, and it hasn't gone away. This is ridiculous... Maybe it's affecting my other games.
Yeah, this is affecting everything. Augh.

The only thing that can be done about rage quitters, for now, is hoping the PS4 recorded the last 15 mins and upload the match to shame them in public.

Its kinda sad how derelict in my arcade stick duties I've become over the years. I think the last time I played SF was just normal AE. I can't even do a quarter circle properly consistenly...gotta slow down or something.

See that's the thing though. The game has been basically silky smooth for me since that initial launch day. We need to start punishing rage quitters ASAP.

Edit: I sent the invite, FluxWaveZ

It's the negative edge. Specials can be performed via the release of a button in addition to the press. This is intended to give you multiple chances and generous leeway to hit the timing or cancel.

doing the half-circles requires a certain momentum. takes practice. been a while for me as well. looking forward to retraining myself.

I dunno, I was kicked off the network as I was losing round 1 earlier, which made me feel bad for my opponent. That has only happened once, though, so I think I would have been fine if I was punished anyways if it's a rare enough occurrence.

That depends on who you are facing, of cours. Ryu has st. Mk, which is a good poke. Cr. Mk, which is also a good button and for close quarters st. Mp, and cr. Mp, which can be linked into themselves. All these, except st. Mk, can be cancelled into specials.

At far distance you fireball. At mid range Ryu is bad. At poke range he is okay and he is excellent in close quarters. You dont want to be at a range where a bad fireball results in huge damage against you.

Then again, it comes to who you are facing.

My HRAP V3 doesn't work despite working with USF4..

Alright, but then they haven't even bothered to map the keyboard in any sensible way, I'm supposed to press B? B!? What the fuck, navigating the UI with these controls makes me want to off myself.

I never thought her v-skill was good, and ya one of the worst if not the worst.

Even when the damage buff was okay, it was such a risky move with low chance to payoff.

But at least there was a potentially huge reward for the risk. In beta 2 I was doing minimal charge mics at least 3 times per round because the damage increase was worth the risk in certain situations (ie full screen or 2/3 screen against a non fireball opponent). It feels like a joke character move right now, like something they would've given to Dan.

I quit SF IV after AE 2012 and didn't really play another fighting game since. I think I didn't really have that problem. Give it a couple days and you'll be good.

Need to get out of using LK for cross up. That was Cammy godammit, not RASHIIIDDOOOO

That'll make it work. Native support is coming if that adds a little too much lag.

NP, a full list of all the stuff coming in the near future can be found here:

http://www.capcom-unity.com/haunts/blog/2016/02/11/sfv-character-story-costumes-and-new-mode-details

Combo trials will be included which I think will help a lot of people as well. We've just been busting ass on the tutorial videos on this end in the meantime but we plan on having a ton of stuff in-game to help people out.

Honestly,I love the passion and welcome the feedback! No need to apologize. :)

Glad you are here and reading feedback. Hopefully you're checking out the other threads that are popping up here and are relaying feedback to the various teams as well.

I think we all obviously want it to be the best it can be, even if it's just a lot of complaints right now.

Yeah, this is affecting everything. Augh.

Oh. Yeah that ain't good. Are you on a laptop? Maybe something updated and it switched back to integrated graphics instead of dedicated GPU?

Crazy, I had no idea of this, thanks a lot. I'm going to have to rethink the way I press my buttons for the combo, back to the lab then!

I second that. I'm actually least concerned about the tutorials since that's where (imo) guys like haunts/combofiend/etc will really make a difference. For all the faults of the fgc in general, the senior members are almost always cool about spreading the knowledge (see: JWong putting together a quick SFV combo doc). Would have been better to have it for release, but it'll be solid I'm sure. Now about those ragequitters, the slow and inaccurate connection quality gauge for battle lounge search (and the inability to filter by connection strength, iirc) and these underwhelming stages... hopefully at least one of those things is improved by the March update

Thanks, again. Do I have any tools for getting in safely or do I let the fight come to me?

Even then, I didn't like it. All it took was one hit and you lose the buff, just seems like a waste of time for a mika when she'd be better just pressuring her opponent.

I mean if you got one off just because you were parrying a fireball or something that's fine, but I never thought it was a good thing to actually try and set up.

Had my friend play a couple of games online with my Steam account since he dabbled in 4. From his comments, I really think the lack of obvious tools to get out of being cornered on wakeup is gonna hurt. Pretty sure you had a bit more invulnerable time in 4, or it may have just felt like it with how I play.
