Had my friend play a couple of games online with my Steam account since he dabbled in 4. From his comments, I really think the lack of obvious tools to get out of being cornered on wakeup is gonna hurt. Pretty sure you had a bit more invulnerable time in 4, or it may have just felt like it with how I play.

Don't get quick get up in the corner, unless you can deal with corner pressure.

I second that. I'm actually least concerned about the tutorials since that's where (imo) guys like haunts/combofiend/etc will really make a difference. For all the faults of the fgc in general, the senior members are almost always cool about spreading the knowledge (see: JWong putting together a quick SFV combo doc). Would have been better to have it for release, but it'll be solid I'm sure. Now about those ragequitters, the slow and inaccurate connection quality gauge for battle lounge search (and the inability to filter by connection strength, iirc) and these underwhelming stages... hopefully at least one of those things is improved by the March update

I like the majority of the stages just fine... Except Shadaloo Base exterior...BOOOOORRRRING.
I just wish there were MORE stages and more stage interactivity... Like the Chinese street stage...

Also, I miss Noodle Hat.

Funny you mention this, I played against a Zangief last night w/ a 4 bar connection. When the connection isn't perfect, it destroys me in ways that typical lag would not. This dude had invincible backdashes, near sweep-distance SPDs, like no recovery time on his blocked attacks, lol. It was a nightmare. When I get matches like that I just try to get them over with quickly, one way or the other.

It's weird, on that one stage you have interactive lights/signs, a stage transition, the ability to kick somebody into a bus and noodle hat (which was in the very first demo of SFV...it belongs!). All on one stage! And the rest of the stages have.... like, nothing manipulable. Even though it seems like many of them will eventually since there are open areas at the edge of the waterfall, Kanzuki and Brazil stages.
Training mode stage should have a transition to SF4 training mode stage.

NP, a full list of all the stuff coming in the near future can be found here:

http://www.capcom-unity.com/haunts/blog/2016/02/11/sfv-character-story-costumes-and-new-mode-details

Combo trials will be included which I think will help a lot of people as well. We've just been busting ass on the tutorial videos on this end in the meantime but we plan on having a ton of stuff in-game to help people out.

Honestly,I love the passion and welcome the feedback! No need to apologize. :)

Can't wait!

Hey Haunts, any chance that Survival mode will show a tally screen at the end of each round that shows how much things are worth? Ex: Perfect finishes, EX finishes, etc?

That is still in. Do a stage finish on the left side of Bustling side street in round 1 and 2.

Edit: Sadly, you lose the hat when getting hit though :(

I wonder how much of a difference changing the display I use for SFV from my HDTV to my monitor will make in terms of combo execution. According to displaylag.com, my monitor is rated at 10ms and my HDTV is rated at 26ms. Is this unlikely to make much of a difference?

That's my main problem so far I get tied up in a corner and get combo' d like crazy. How do I defend against it?

Just stay calm, people panic and try to press buttons, just treat it as any knockdown.
It doesn't phase me anymore and sometimes even gives me an advantage because the opponent thinking they can go HAM.

+/- on block means how many frames it takes you to recover from an attack into an idle state. If it's +3 frames, you recover 3 frames faster from attacking than person blocking recovers from blocking animation.

-3 frames means the opposite.

If a move has + on block, it means that after the opponent blocks, you have a little advatage, at least you may block incoming attack, or make a quick attack. If it is - on block, you can be punished after the opponent recovers from block.

When it has a number, that number is the frames. +2 on block means that if you have an attack that has 2 or less frames to start, you can use it before the opponent can react.

Generally, light attacks are + on block and Hard attacks are - on block

Ah, alright, thanks guys.

With those numbers, probably not. I've gone from 70-odd to 36 and that feels so much better now.

About a 1 frame difference. The only compelling reason to switch for that difference IMO would be if you are considering going to tournaments, where the slight difference may result in some adjustment disruption. Otherwise it's not really a factor to be concerned about. Just make sure you are running your HDTV in whatever mode / settings it needs to be in so that you're actually getting the lowest amount of image processing (or the input lag will be significantly higher than 26ms). Sometimes this is labeled as "Game Mode", other times it'll be marked as "PC Input" or something. I know on my Samsung I had to rename one of the inputs to "DVI / PC" for that.

Thanks, again. Do I have any tools for getting in safely or do I let the fight come to me?
Nope. Walk forward and get in range to use your pokes while you look to block the rival attacks. You can mix the dash in to surprise your opponent. You will feel very vulnerable at first, but that is how you start learning the fighting dance.

I'd love to be wrong! To be clear I'm not saying you can't play a good Mika, I just feel like she's pretty limited compared to most characters. What's your ID? I'm Noray87 (anyone can feel free to add me for Lounge matches)

The best I can do is EX peach, which has 1 hit of armor, but it doesn't even beat a normal grab. It has slow startup. I tend to either block or jab on wakeup because idk what else to do. Sometimes I get frisky and go for her vortex command grab but it's super risky.

ID: Suplex

Yep, the first thing I did when I bought this set was find some good calibration settings for game mode on AVS forum. Honestly I'd eventually like to play at some local tournaments and stuff but I am a long, long, long ways away from that!

I think they need to work on improving the performance of the existing ones before throwing more stages at us. Quality over quantity. It will only help future stages too.

One of the things I like about fighters is that they almost always run a smooth 60 fps on screen, and if more interactivity means the screen is filled with more 30 fps elements causing a visual disconnect with the characters, I don't want that personally. Fighters aren't the genre where we should be having frame rate debates, background elements or not.

Seriously there needs to be a YouTube account or twitter that just shames the ragequitters lol

That's what I've planned on doing. See opponent drop, hit the share button, upload trimmed video to youtube, look up fighter ID in CFN and get their online ID (PSN or Steam). Once the video is up, edit both IDs into the subject of the video.

I'm a broken record at this point. I'll stop.

Yeah good matches, I get stomped by bison in ranked so it was a good time, definitely need to grind out that matchup some more.

One big thing you didn't take advantage of was Bison's lack of options on wake up. Everytime you tried catching me with the neutral jump or that grab it was a big relief because I could use EX-something to get away. When you actually went HAM I had nothing. Also blocked Psycho Inferno (the flame coming out of the ground) isn't safe for me but you weren't really punishing it with anything besides sticking out a normal so I just kept doing it hoping youd press a button. Might want to find something to punish that.

I really like Zangief as a character, is he an ok fighter to learn as a total beginner or should i look for someone else?

I want to stay away from the Ryu's and Kens as its all i seem to be matched with!

Zangief is a very, very tough character to learn. Probably one of the hardest in the game, imo. He requires a level of patience that most new players just don't have. Not only that, his special inputs require a level of execution that comes with extraordinary amounts of practice. Just look at everything Snake Eyes (he's a pro-player) goes through with Gief to get an idea.

Thanks for the info, ill try and work on some stuff later in training

Zangief is one of the best chars to learn this game. He is a footsie based grappler. He's got great buttons and huge damage an stamina.

That said, his mobility is very lacking and you probably will find yourself not knowing what to do. You will be forced to learn fundamentals with him, but the road may be alittle rough.

Glad you are here and reading feedback. Hopefully you're checking out the other threads that are popping up here and are relaying feedback to the various teams as well.

I think we all obviously want it to be the best it can be, even if it's just a lot of complaints right now.

I'm keeping a close eye on everything and relaying as much as possible to the dev/server team. I can only talk about stuff when I have real news though, hope you guys understand. Thanks for being patient.

re: Mika, I hope somebody picks her in the upcoming tourney. As I currently understand the game, I think she was overpowered when her mic charge was initially shown, but it's nigh on useless now. I mean, Fang can poison you at 2/3 screen, Ryu/Nash/Bison can nullify projectiles at full screen, etc with v-skill. Mika can ... beg you to hit her for like 15 pts more damage IF you successfully land a grab before your opponent (who knows how this works) hits you even once? Yeah, .... considering she's suspect at best on wakeup, I miss femcee Mika.

I think it's decent. The goal for me is to be close to the opponent. Mic makes them come closer or waste meter trying to get me to stop from powering up.

Tried hard survival with Karin for the first time. Got mostly perfects til I came to stage 14 Bison with half hp.. Yea im nopeing outta that shit

Someone tell me how to beat Necalli as Mika, It doesnt' feel possible. One knockdown and you're fucked for life. Can't even get away after being shoryuken'd and doing a quickrise away from him, like wat da fack. And anything that isn't a jab will get you crush counters. Or if you are dumb enough to block you get command grabbed 100% of the time

So haunts... what are the chances of a Keystone revival featuring Magus1234?
I mean that's what the people want.

So yeah, running pretty flawlessly on my PC now. Super happy.

At 800 LP now. I'm sire I can crack 1000 LP but not more, there's where I hit the wall. Started trying to parry more and I do get the timing right at times bit can't really do anything with it.

Lol if there only 10 trials per char
