Gears of War Ultimate Edition PC Specs Leaked

I dunno, specs do seem a bit high for a last gen remake. Gears Ultimate is no Rise of the Tomb Raider in the graphics dept, that's for sure.

We have no idea what the PC version will offer. Also, these aren't even guaranteed to be the final specs.

Another thing to consider is that the Xbox One version is running at 30 fps in the campaign. I would assume that the required specs are for 60 fps in both multi and campaign.

wondering what exactly is going to scale beyond xbone other than res and framerate. hard to expect much from this particular title

They said they're re-authoring textures and geometry to scale for 4K. Either it's going to look crazy good or they're putting out a poorly optimized port.

Seeing as these specs came directly from the Windows Store, one can have 99% certainty that those are the specs. Only the developer can change that. It's not like it's a rumor or from some guy/gal.

16 GB RAM and 4 GB VRAM needed in 2016? Ridiculous!

These so-called pc gamers lol

I'm wondering if some people in here are even PC Gamers. I'm glad I just know what I need to upgrade my PC to.

Recommended doesn't mean anything. It's completely arbitrary.

Which is why publishers and devs need to be more transparent with it.

EA took a big step in gaining the favour of PC gamers with the NFS requirements which specifically state "recommended for 1080p60 at high settings" and other configurations.

This:

The whole thing.

Even in much higher resolution with some enabled FX on PC and better textures this game is not even looking that good to require 16 GB RAM and 4 GB VRAM, not to mention 60 GB HDD space. It's just redicilous.

why are you using the Xbox 1 version as a litmus test for highest settings on the pc version. we dont know what settings those recommended specs target

PC GAF YOU ARE EMBARASSING ME

specs seem fine

Was there a reason given for the PC delay? I thought this was meant to be out by now.

It's a level-based shooter, not some open-world, day-night cycle game with real time weather effects and behavioral AI and physics puzzles with complex collision damage. There just isn't enough going on that makes me feel like the specs should be higher than what's recommended for The Witcher or GTAV.

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
OS: 64 bit Windows 10 – version 1511
Processor: Intel Core i5 @ 2.7Ghz or AMD FX 6-core
Memory: 8 GB RAM (2 GB VRAM)
Graphics: Geforce GTX 650 Ti or Radeon R7 260x
Hard Drive: 60 GB available space
DirectX 12

Processor-> looks reasonable and with such cpu there is potential to run SP campaign at more than 30 fps.
Memory-> 1,5gb for OS needs, 6.5gb available for games. Since memory is not shared on pc you need to transfer texture data through regular ram to gpu vram that means constant streaming take out another 2gb, so we have 4.5gb + pagefile available for games.
Graphics card-> same ballpark as X1 gpu, no?
Hard Drive-> 4K ready textures and potentially better geometry?

Xbox One
OS: Windows Mess
Processor: AMD 8-core 1.75ghz -> 6 weak cores available for games
Memory: 8GB Shared DDR3 -> 5gb available for games
Graphics: Radeon ~7770?
Hard Drive: 45GB available space
Low level API

Seems about right to me. If minimum specs means X1 quality then everything is good.

No way this game needs that kind of power. lol

It's a last generation game with a few new bells and whistles the original game didn't have. Nothing mind blowing.

16GB of RAM for 1080p resolution?! What the fuck?!

Its understandable for an open world game like Fallout, but this as a linear corridor cover based shooter!

Because if you can't run the game on max settings then it is unoptimized. It doesn't matter what those settings are.

Most of the time it's not minimum either. The consoles usually run a mix of medium and high settings with some effects from ultra high on pc versions at 30fps right?

Still seems a bit high im pretty sure its just a product of being highly optimized for the one and not so much for PC.

So the 6300 is minimum spec? Lol what. My FX6300's done much better than the consoles in everything I've thrown at it so far, even more so now that multicore rendering's more of a thing.

Edit: Forgot there are other 6 cores in the family, the 6100 for example, now I feel dumb, I should rest between min/req like usual.

what are the chances of steam?

As much as The Last Guardian and Zelda Wii U officially releasing on steam.

Might just be me (who doesn't look at Recommended Specs often), but that's the first time I've seen an SSD suggested.

Faster 4K texture stream?

Minimum Direct X12? Wut?

All Xbox One MSFT owned games that are getting PC releases now are WIN10 exclusive, for which D3D12 is as well, by default. Chances are rare that you're looking forward to these games while having D3D12 incompatible hardware.

That's a lot of Raam.

Should have been first post.

16 GB RAM and 4 GB VRAM needed in 2016? Ridiculous!

These so-called pc gamers lol

The only way I would be against calling that ridiculous is if it looks considerably better than the Xbox One version.
So I can only say, 'we'll see'.

"Nothing more than a few new bells and whistles" suggests, like, a couple replaced models and some new particle effects, lol. Look at the XBO shot earlier in the thread and tell me the release doesn't have a huge amount of replaced assets.

I did and it's still nothing that screams "you need this kind powah!"

Gears of War is not an AC Syndicate, Unity, or GTA V.

In any case it will probably not take much at all to match the Xbox One, so you guys can all relax. But 60fps for the SP will take some muscle as always.

Most of it sounds very reasonable, except for the 16GB ram bit.

GoW Ultimate Edition is quite a looker on XO. I'm sure it'll look awesome on a beefed up PC.

Why are games suddenly recommending 970's for console ports? That gpu is miles more powerful than either console.

Especially the Xbox One, how on earth does it need a 970 at 1080p when it runs at that on Xbox one.

Because they're adding stuff to the PC ports, and largely considering console equivalent settings to be on the low end of their specs.

I always thought a 650 Ti was right about the range of the Xbox One/PS4. Could someone explain as to why the minimum specs listed are not close to what the consoles are running?
And you would be wrong, maybe closer in power to the XB1 GPU, but certainly not the PS4 where it's GPU is much stronger than a 750Ti even.

This whole Gears debacle is just plain mystifying. A remaster of the oldest Gears game takes forever to get ported to the XB1,...another century to get ported to PC and now these ridiculous requirements. If this was the entire collection including judgement I would understand, but by the time this releases no one will care, who will buy this at MSRP on release????

I think if this

RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR 1920X1080P

OS: 64 bit Windows 10 - version 1511
Processor: Intel Core i5 @3.5GHz+ or AMD FX 8-core
Memory: 16 GB RAM (4 GB VRAM)
Graphics: GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 290X
Hard Drive: 60 GB available space
DirectX 12

had instead been written like this

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR 1920X1080P - HIGHEST POSSIBLE FIDELITY AND SETTINGS

OS: 64 bit Windows 10 - version 1511
Processor: Intel Core i5 @3.5GHz+ or AMD FX 8-core
Memory: 16 GB RAM (4 GB VRAM)
Graphics: GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 290X
Hard Drive: 60 GB available space
DirectX 12

this thread would be shorter.

If the AMD difference for DX12 is really that large, that's nuts. A 390x being the recommended card on the AMD side for 4k vs a 980Ti on the Nvidia side. Not even the Fury

The Fury is limited to 4gb. 4k with very high texture quality will surely push the VRAM usage higher than that hence the 980ti requirements.

I'm sure the recommended requirements will be a great fit for very smooth gameplay. I'm sure it will run much better than, say, Arkham Knight but it's still a huge step up from most other Unreal Engine 3 games out there.

Unfortunately, some of the decisions actually look artistically worse than the original game. Ultimate uses GPU accelerated particles that are much more computationally expensive than the animated alpha textures used in the 360 original...but it actually looks worse in the end. Nowhere near as nice as Arkham Knight, that's for sure.

Water is also weirdly ugly in the Ultimate Edition for some reason.

This is a weird game in that it occupies a space between remake and remaster. In terms of visuals, everything was completely remade for Ultimate - there are no assets from the original Gears of War included here.

Yet, the actual core gameplay systems are identical (which was their objective).

So more effort was poured into the visuals than a typical remaster but it also lacks that "new" spark you often get with a full-on remake.
