I'm actually still rocking ny first gen 360 and it rarely gives me any issues. Battery could be better but I get a whole day out of a charge

Have you tried any other Android Wear watches for a long period of time? My LG G watch was better than my Moto 360 all around except the design.

I have no doubt they're more advanced and refined now, but to call the OG 360 horrible is doing it a disservice

Just got the moto 360 (1st gen). Had a frustrating time getting it paired with my Nexus 4 but finally did it

I don't like the steel band, going to get a leather strap for it

Which face is that? I have something similar on mine curiously named, custom (flat), except I can't access the step counter or any other customization.

That face was included in the last update...it is also customizable. You can add the step counter by changing the watch face and pressing the GEAR icon below it.

New Android Wear Update rolling out soon. It's a decent one:
  • Navigate your watch with new gestures.
  • Send more messages with just your voice.
  • Make calls and listen to messages with speaker support.
After this update the only feature where AndroidWear lags behind is nfc/ApplePay (which is still only somewhat available in US and UK). I much prefer where Androidwear is ahead like always-on screen, watchfaces etc.

I guess the best Androidwear watch to get is now indisputably thr Huawei one?

Hey does anyone use Transit androidwear app? Or can someone post up a mini review/video?

Picked up an used Zenwatch 2 that's basically like new, to mess around. Managing Android wear for the first time felt really confusing - some settings are in the Android wear app and some settings are on the watch itself.

The new wear update can't come soon enough. When I picked up a phone call via the watch the first time I could not tell if I need to talk through the watch or the phone. I'm not sure what this in the update means: Send more messages with just your voice Haven't you always been able to do that? at least with Hangouts I just say "send Hangout message to xxx"

Is there an app that can delete un-wanted Android wear app on the watch only? I hate having to go through ADB just to get something simple like that done. Wear app managers I have tried simply delete the whole app from the phone, which isn't what I want.

What the hell is wrong with google not including NFC?

Just picked up a refurb 1st gen Moto 360 for cheap. I'm an old fart and just want to pretend I'm Dick Tracy

Seriously, I just needed a watch and figured this might be fun. If I don't really give a fuck about notifications (I have no friends), can I turn them off? Will it save battery life? Any tips for preserving battery life in general?

Wait, why get the watch if you don't want the notifications? Surely there are other Dick Tracy-like watches out there that are cheaper? But to answer your question, it'll probably save you some battery life, depending on the app.

It means more third party app support:
Running late for lunch? Just say “OK Google, Send a WhatsApp message to Nathan: I’ll be right there.”
Compare with AppleWatch where you can only use Siri to send iMessage but with AndroidWear you should be able to use OK Google for more messaging apps

Sony Smartwatch 3 has NFC but Google hasn't gotten around to utilizing it yet. Probably in the next generation of Android Wear device. I think Google has been building Androidwear slowly making sure they get each step right. Also worth noting that NFC on iPhone/Applewatch is locked to only ApplePay but NFC on Android phones is open for tagging, pairing, sharing etc. You'd hope that when Androidwear uses NFC it'd be similarly open and flexibile as well instead of 'just' payments

I've got a Huawei watch myself...To extend battery, I turned off always-on and the ability to turn on when lifting your arm. To see the time, I have to either touch the watchface or press the button...When I get home, I simply power it off.

Doing this, I generally take 3-4 days between charges.

You guys think the 1st gen 360 is still worth it?

Oh I don't mean to disparage or anything, I just literally get about 4 texts from 2 people on a daily basis. I don't really use my calendar or reminders for anything. I just wanted a cheap watch and having changeable faces sounded attractive. There's apps on these I'm likely to take advantage of but I won't need things turned on all the time.

Sounds good, thanks

I know nothing about these things, I just did a little searching and found it's supposed to be able to still get the latest update, plus I figured $75 for the only smartwatch I personally find attractive other than that Huawei one but that still runs for $150 was a risk I'd take.

Do you have it in your hands already? Just curious if it seems sluggish at all.

I'm still rocking my Moto 360 bought near launch.

I had battery issues but a hard reset cleared them up. I last a day on it. I think the number of watchfaces loaded may actually hurt the battery, although I don't know why.

Which Huawei watch is $150? I'd be tempted to upgrade depending on the details.

Wasn't a very well structured sentence on my part, I was trying to convey two separate ideas, 1) I like the way the Huawei watch looks but I'd never spend that much on something I mostly just want to play with, and 2) the 1st gen Moto 360 still runs $150 so I figured $75 was a decent deal for something I wouldn't otherwise bite on.

Anyone have a Zen Watch 2? It can be had new for around the same price as a new 1st Gen 360. I'm assuming it's got better hardware than that?

I like mine so far, at the price they charge anyway. The only complain is lack of auto brightness feature, but I guess that's not exclusive to Zenwatch 2. I honestly just don't see myself buying an expensive watch that the battery is probably not going to be replaceable 3-4 years down the road because the product has been discontinued.

How do you feel about the bezels? Is their size distracting to you?

It bothered me when I was reading through reviews and looking at the zoomed in pictures... But in actuality, it hasn't bothered me at all. Most of the time it is in ambient mode which turns the background black so it matches with the bezel. When using the watch I haven't really been paying enough attention to the bezel for it to bother me. I mean, sure, it's pretty big when you are staring at it but my attention is more on the information it's displaying...

I bought my wife a first gen LG g watch, what's the best way to get custom watchfaces? I've installed watchmaker and faces, and even after I figure out the issue of it not showing up on the watch, the choices are a bit lacking. Is there a better way to find and use watchfaces?

Facerepo.com has a ton, although there's also tons of crap.

Googleplus has watchmaker groups as well.

Find a designer you like and look at more from them.

I got the Moto 360 Sport - My first smart watch!

I think it's a slick device. I wanted something comfortable that will be used for run tracking and this looked a lot more suitable than the nicer watches out there. It's my second day with it so far and I'm testing out the battery life. Right now It's been on from 6AM to 3PM with 70% battery remaining (always display - off). I'm sure GPS would kill it however as all reviews say that running ~1h after work will most certainly kill it.

I have a problem however! I got it mainly to use with Runkeeper that has supported Android Wear for a while now but for some reason the app will not show up on my watch! I've tried syncing apps on my phone repeatedly and even reset the watch to factory conditions but no luck. All other apps (including fitness ones) have showed up fine. Anyone have any ideas?

This may be a dealbreaker for me.

It's not supposed to show up as an app on your watch, see here: https://support.runkeeper.com/hc/en-us/articles/202988016-How-to-use-Runkeeper-with-Android-Wear

It'll basically just show info on the watch

I've read that page before but it doesn't work. When I say "Track a run" - Runkeeper is not one of the options. I have Moto Body Running, Ghost Runner, Google Fit Activity, but no Runkeeper.

If I look at the Android Wear App and see the actions available I get this:

NgMVYA3.png

If I look at the watch storage I don't see Runkeeper in there at all.

You can see in this image online it does show up as an app:

There won't be anything stored on the watch by runkeeper. If you start a run from your phone, does it show up as a card in your watch? That's all Runkeeper does with Android Wear on top of add the voice commands. Does Track a Run work with Runkeeper with your phone and not the watch? If not, that's probably the problem. If it does, you might need to initiate the first one from your phone while the watch is on you and then it might recognise it after.

EDIT: Is that watch a Sony Smartwatch? If so, apparently the app does show up there as you can run without your phone being present according to that page. You can't with other watches.

I tried starting a run right now with Runkeeper on my phone and didn't see any cards at all on my watch.

I tried starting a run with "Track a run" using OK Google (and Moto Body) and didn't see any Runkeeper cards nor did it update my runkeeper activities.

Had the refurb for I guess a week now. Like I said, it doesn't get much of a workout, but so far I can't say I find the performance poor and the battery life is fine. I turn the thing off when not using it, so I'm getting a few days at a time. All I wanted was a watch + fitness toy, so I'm pleased for the price so far. Admittedly no experience with something else to properly judge the performance.

Moto 360 Sport is cool! I really like the daylight mode that makes the screen easy to see in strong sunlight.

Biggest beef I have now is using Bluetooth headset connected to the watch during a run cuts out constantly unless I wear the watch on my right hand. It's a known issue for Moto 360 sport

FYI runkeeper just put out an update so now it shows up on my watch!

Anyone else having issues with Watchmaker Pro? I use it for faces nearly exclusively, but lately it's been crashing. This is very annoying, to say the least.

So not worth it
Going to get a Huawei Watch to go along with my G Watch R (which is showing way too many scratches for my liking after a year of use anyways, best not get a black watch again hehe), but a bit concerned about the thickness of the thing. Even though it's barely thicker than the G Watch R, it looks a lot bigger in the reviews on YT.

Any people who have one care to share their experiences on that front?

Go to best buy and wear them. It's not as thick as it looks on photos/video. Probably as thick or a tiny bit thinner than the OG Moto 360.

Yeah, went to a store...

Probably shouldn't have done that...

Absolutely gorgeous watch, screen is insanely crisp and way brighter. One of the things that always annoyed me about the LG G Watch R is that there's a black border around the screen between where the displayed pixels end and the bodywork starts. Not on the Huawei Watch though, it ends right at the body. The Sapphire screen and overall clarity and brightness are way ahead of G Watch R too (and the Urbane, since those are the same watch), absolutely worth the bit of extra cost.

And you were right, it's not thicker than the G Watch R, and in fact looks smaller due to the smaller bezels.

Oh that's really smart. Is android wear still crappy with iPhone or is it ok? Don't really care about voice control but would like to get notifications with some decent level of granularity
