Totally worth it.
What's your main use for the watch? In terms of watch culture, I have one of those indestructible 80s Casio watches that I literally never take off. Swimming, shower, etc.
I'm sooo close to pulling the trigger, but I don't know anyone with a smart watch...
What new gestures? Where did you find them? The new gestures are so bad. So so bad

So I have the OG Moto 360 I a Note 5 and I'm probally getting the Note 6 when it comes out. What do you guys suggest I do? Upgrade to Gear S2 or new Moto or another watch or wait?
I use my watch for notifications/Fitness(Must have good HR)
Well the OG 360 has a terrible sensor so anything will be an improvement. The little green light on mine stopped working.
I'm personally going to wait for Huawei Watch 2 or Moto 360 3
Oooh look at that i just got the new update.
Been using the Gear S2 and it's perfectly fine. My only gripe is notifications go away too quick, but the battery life is pretty good. 2 days before charging it. Hanve't tested voice stuff, but TBH I never used it when I had the Moto 360 first gen anyway.
Those been out for a while.
Fun thing I never realized existed before is double clicking the side button to turn off the screen without going through the menu to theater mode. Is that new, or have I just not noticed it before?

Amazon has the Huawei Watch for up to $100 off as their DOTD. No reason to not get one if you were on the cusp.
Ok. Someone convince me to drop $280 on a stainless steel smartwatch.Amazon has the Huawei Watch for up to $100 off as their DOTD. No reason to not get one if you were on the cusp.

Sorry buds, I'm new to the thread and want a quick update on current smartwatch functionality. So far I've skipped smartwatches, waiting for the tech to mature.
1. As of now, can any android smartwatches make and receive calls through the watch? As in, functioning like a speakerphone, with a mic on the watch itself picking up my voice. Think communicator from power rangers. Ideally connected to the phone in my pocket through bluetooth.
2. If so, are those calls compatible with Google Voice calls? I have a google voice number and all of my calls and texts are made through the Gvoice app and Hangouts dialer.
3. On that note, can I open the google voice app itself on the watch to read texts?
4. Can I upload my own custom watch backgrounds that I've made?
Ok, got my watch set up and hit the Marshmallow update... How do I use the watch speaker to listen to a phone call?
I kiiiiiiinda want the Asus Zen 2. Only had the first LG one but sold it after not using it much + no WiFi.
And it's just 160 so not that expensive...
Open the Phone app on the watch, allow it the permissions it wants, then you can set to receive phone calls on the watch.
My moto360v1 isn't lasting a full day anymore. I'm thinking about getting the gen 2 but haven't seen any objective benchmarks comparing the two.
Anyone know what battery life improvements to expect?
So, marshmallow arrives on Android wear with new doze feature to increase battery life.
I.e THE most important part of a smart watch.
And I can find no info about how MM has made any difference to AW battery life. People talk about doze. Nobody reviews or rates its performance.
Should I take from this that it's a failure?
I'd say doze in itself is a failure. The whole point of a smart watch is to get notifications from your phone. Doze delays your notifications if your device is inactive for a period of time. Why would you want that on a watch (or phone for that matter)?
Yes seems like my watch performs alot better. Wish it didn't have this burn in from God knows where...Any Moto 360 1st gen owners notice the new update made the watch good again? I've not expereinced any of the "i didn't catch that" (when it clearly did) or "network not available" (1-2 minutes after I completed what I wanted to say to it) after that update. The "OK Google" command followed by a string of words works damn near instantly now. You don't ahve to pause between the trigger and what you want it to do anymore either. On that note though, this has made me realize that "OK Google" is a little too long and clunky. I wish I could say something else that was a bit faster. Maybe "Hey Google" would suffice.
Although I don't agree that's a valid opinion, but I wanted factual info about battery improvements (or lack thereof).
If it's disconnected from your phone, it'll save some battery...Although I don't agree that's a valid opinion, but I wanted factual info about battery improvements (or lack thereof).
With the latest Android Wear version (1.4), you can indeed make and receive voice calls through your watch via Bluetooth connection on select watches that have a speaker. Which means the Huawei Watch and the Asus Zenwatch 2 as of right now.
With the Wear version of the Hangouts app, you can read any message on the watch's face and send any text message through Google Now (assuming you have the latest version of Wear) and within the app. You can't make voice calls.
And for custom watch faces, you will need to download an app for that unless the watch's manufacturer has your back and developed a face designer. I know the Asus Zenwatch line has one. But there are many, many watch face designer apps.
