Android Wear |OT| 2nd Gen is Here

So, I've been thinking about finally taking the plunge into the Android Wear ecosystem. What's the general consensus of the best bang for the buck? My price limit is around $300. Any suggestions would be great.
Smart Watch 3 was like $100 a couple weeks ago. Best watch imo regardless of price.

Not Android Wear, but I've been rocking the Samsung Gear S2 Classic for almost a month. Great device and battery life. Played a whole round of golf using it as a GPS distance and score tracker, just as good as a Garmin. Using this as my watch face via Mr Time Maker:

Considering getting the girlfriend an S2 watch. How do you like it?

Total noob question here. If I'm too far from the phone it just loses the ability for notifications and stuff, The watch is always a watch on it's own as it will still tell time and weather and track steps that's all on the watch itself?

I really need some help. For xmas I'd really like to get my wife a bluetooth enabled device for ear buds that streams music for spotify, google radio, etc. On top of that she'd like to leave the phone in her gym locker. Is this possible on a google smartwatch? I've searched around and the answer is ambiguous. If you can can someone recommend a watch that is best for the gym?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think that will work. The watch isn't pushing all that data. It's the phone.

There's a way to have the watch store Google Music and listen to that. But it isn't instant. You need to choose what to store on the watch.

Thanks. I was afraid of that. I was hoping it could stream from the phone to the smartwatch.

I bet the battery drain would be massive for something like that.

It's an awesome watch and gadget. No lag in the dial, many customizable watch options, and perfect integration with my Samsung Note Edge.

It's certainly kept me more fit with the activity and heart tracker, and the icing on the cake is the golf GPS and score app. I strongly recommend it.

So how does the Moto 360 1 hold up today?

I just want it to view notifications, count steps, tell time, and look nice.

I'd probably charge it every night as I do my phone. And wouldn't need the watch face on all the time.

Also do people have opinions on Stone Grey vs Black.

Mine does all those things just fine. I had pretty bad battery issues for a while, but uninstalling the software from my phone and resetting my watch fixed that.

I have black.

I love my gen 1 360.

Battery lasts the day, not much more though. I get my sports scores, chat notifications, and control my podcasts while my phone is connected to my car stereo, so it does everything I need.

I got the silver one, I like it much more than the black, but I would say its entirely a personal opinion anyway. Both are great.

So just got a 1st gen Moto 360 for like super cheap. Can anyone recommend useful apps for Android wear?

Mostly it's apps that have a Wear feature already, I find.

Other than that-- Watchmaker/Facer if you want to make or download watch faces (from facerepo.com). And Pujie Black is a nice custom watch face with a lot of customizable features as well.

I used to have Wear Laucher but it's not quite as necessary with the updates.

So I really dig the Android Wear watches, but I'm currently using an iPhone and I'm not sure if I'm switching to Android any time soon.

How good/bad is the integration between Android Wear and iPhones? I really dislike the Apple watch and I've heard a lot of negative things about them.

I think I want to pick up a metal band for my 1st gen 360. Any recommendations? Nothing expensive, and nothing I will have to modify to work, haha.

The watch does look nice, but I wish there was an elegant charging solution for it. All manufacturers need to embrace inductive charging for small gadgets like that.

Yep, had to get the mesh metal band for the H watch. Fucking love the hardware. I'm happy with the magnetic lock charger but if this worked with a universal inductive charger, that'd be even better. Software leaves a lot to be desired. So glad they fixed the Take a Note command that used to bring up a white screen. Shazam only worked sometimes last I used it. I do like how convenient it is get to apps like Shazam so that I'm more likely to use them. Is there a launcher that lets me get to google now with one swipe instead of the current three?

Aiii

So not worth it

If you're okay with the watch being thicker, sure.

You need room for that coil. To be honest, I'm perfectly fine with what they have now, the cradle works just as well, the magnet slides it in place, I'm good. Last thing I need is another several mm's of thickness added to the watches.

The Moto 360 is as thick as the Huawei Watch and has wireless charging.

I'd prefer a mm out 2 off of the thickness myself, but to each their own. After all, this isn't Apple, we have options :)

I want to buy an Android Wear watch and I can't choose between the LG Watch Urbane and the Moto 360 2nd Gen (42 mm). I don't really mind the flat tire, because I prefer mostly black watchfaces, but how do the AMOLED and LCD screen compare? Also because AMOLED is better at creating deeper blacks and it doesn't cost any energy, compared to a LCD screen. Has anyone tried both, which did you prefer?

After wearing the Urbane of a friend, I've decided to buy the Moto 360 42mm edition. The Urbane is simply too big for my wrists, who are quite average, but the bezels make the Urbane a much bigger watch than I anticipated. I will post impressions when I receive it (tomorrow or the day after).

My santababy got me the urbane, I love it. she said she tried to get me the urbane 2 but as they took of the market was not able to. Petty it took LG so long to reintroduce it , but I am very happy with this one :) (been sporting the LG G up till now and like that one too, this one just looks more like a watch )

I tried the 2nd gen Android wear watches and third gen Samsung watches and they feel really smooth compared to my og 360. I'll probably upgrade to the 3rd gen 360 next year.

OG Moto 360 is such garbage when you look back on it. Slow. Bad battery. Random stopages. Just terrible.

The Next Version Of Android Wear Is Being Tested On The Huawei Watch, And It Finally Activates The Speaker

A user on Reddit says that he or she is currently using a test build of Android Wear on the Huawei Watch, and that the speaker is active with the new software installed. Calls can be made or answered directly from the watch, the user can set alerts for calls or texts, and the watch can use speech-to-text to read out menus for ease of access. Presumably third-party apps will have access to the speaker for whatever developers see fit to use it for.
oh snap!

Razer are doing a watch too. Basically got a bunch of fitness features in a standard looking watch, but gets basic unactionable notifications from your phone via Bluetooth. The offset of the basic functionality? 1 year battery life like a real watch. While they claim the smart screen part of it needs charging once a week.

$150, or $200 for a forged edition that's more durable for more extreme sports.

That has to be the ugliest thing I've seen. Ever.

I want a watch that is my cell modem.

I want a watch that I can connect to a Bluetooth headset.

I want a watch that with the Bluetooth headset I can listen to music, make and take calls, and dictate email / text / task / calendar commands through a google now like service.

I want a watch that acts as my authentication method.

i want a watch that can connect act as a wireless modem for any device, including a 5" tablet.

I would ditch my smartphone for most functions, for a watch that could provide that functionality and the least important item in that feature list is the display. Could be a damn fit bit.

/longing rant.

So, just received a Samsung Gear S2 as a birthday present. Do have the option to exchange it for a different watch though... How is the watch overall? Most I know about it is that it doesn't run Android but Tizen or something?

I picked up a Huawei watch as a gift to myself for Christmas...I've been addicted to the Watchmaker app since. I made this last night...

It's not amazing but I'm surprised at what can be achieved with simple shapes and tools within the app.

Anyone else here interested in the 360 Sport? I was really tempted to pick it up on the spot but it's $300. I think that's a little too steep.
