Street Fighter V |OT2| Another Fight Isn't Coming Your Way!

Bison and Laura are my toughest matchups right now.

Also, once again, screw this games matchmaking. 4 silver/gold players in a row, and now I'm back down to super bronze.

For me it's Laura and Mika. Don't really know the characters, they have so much advantage on block and I'm in constant c.grab fear.

Really should find out what's punishable

At this point, I'm just waiting to own an arcade stick. Hopefully I can manage to buy the Hori RAP4 sometime this Summer.
If i remember correctly you're pretty new to SF like me right? I bought the RAP4 yesterday and i can already do combos much easier than with the PS4 pad, especially the qcb moves

Would you guys say that Nash is beginner friendly in this game? I'm having so much fun with him and improving my footsies with his excellent normals.

Yeah, he's not just beginner friendly but he's really strong on multiple levels.
You've pointed out his normals/pokes, but his specials, V-Trigger and dmg are really great.

Nash's V Trigger is seriously so good. You can use it to get out of pressure, you can use it right after a sonic boom, you can use it to extend combos.. it's one of thee best.

Posting for others, not sure I've seen an official post yet regarding ports:

http://www.capcom.co.jp/support/faq/platform_ps4_sfv_0100678.html

Roughly Translated:

If you want to play online, these ports on your router need to be open:

■ TCP 80, 443, 20002, 30840, 30850, 30870
■ UDP 30840-30859, 30870-30879

I set my PC as a DMZ host, thereby opening all ports.

It didn't work. If opening some ports is their (shitty) solution, then I guess they're never going to fix this for some of us. It's not ports, it's not our router config. Hell, I get games in 3rd Strike Online in less than 10 seconds. I don't have USF4 installed right now, but I would friggin' bet I'd be able to get games there without a single issue.

I'd argue his biggest weakness is the lack of a reversal. He needs V-Gauge for that but his V-Trigger is so good and worth it.

I'm on ps4 and haven't had an issues since the game was down for like 6 hours this past Tuesday or whatever day it was. I'm finding matches in <1 minute since that at all hours of the day and have had 0 disconnects and no lag at all. I'm on crappy Timewarner 30/5

Isn't his EX flash kick a reversal? And isn't that cancelable into V-Trigger in case its blocked? Damn you Charlie!

Yeah, Street Fighter V is my first Street Fighter. Well, I had Ultimate Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter II Turbo Remix HD but didn't play either one.

I had a RAP3 before for Tekken but couldn't get used to it at all. But I think I might do better in a 2D game like Street Fighter, so I'm betting on the RAP4 with Hayabusa buttons.

SFV pretty high on stream list...maybe it's done a million copies??? Looking like this bad boy might recover from the initial negative launch afterall.

Do we know how many characters will be added by Evo?

We are getting characters up until September. One in March, April, May, July, August and September.

Someone help me pick a third character to mess around with. Ryu and Mika are my mains right now.

Looking for a non-charge character who is easy to pick up and play and relatively strait forward to play. I'm thinking Cammy, Rashid, or maybe Necalli.

I would say Cammy. Cammy is one of the best characters that is easy to pick up and play, and get good at with ease. Especially after being someone who played mostly as Ryu and Ken over the course of 15 years.

Those are good choices but I say Birdie! Strong, hits hard, pretty straightforward attacks and combos.

Well ive never used a stick before so my opinion might not mean much but it feels damn good to me atleast.

Finally broke past the 2800 block I've been at the last couple days and broke into the ranks of Super Silver at 3000. After watching Sako's stuff I started implementing the stuff he was doing, namely burning meter after your standard bnb juggle on EX Tenko for extra damage. I did the coolest thing I've done in a SF game to date, landing Karin's corner combo of cr.MP st.MP xx tenko lk upkicks ex tenko ex ressenha. Harder to land in the corner since you need to delay the lk upkicks some to make sure ex tenko hits without crossing under. 550 stun and swag as fuck.

For that to have happened already steam, UK and Japan sales would literally have to be triple what they currently are. Sales age is pretty data driven on GAF. Once you've seen enough launches, NPDs and media create threads you get a good feel for this sort of thing. Besides, a million copies is a sort of miletone on it's own. If SFV could hit those numbers so fast (without channel stuffing) with this mess of a launch Capcom would be shouting it from the rooftops.

Had a dud session on SF5 last night - wasn't feeling it. I'd taken a couple nights away from it just for a breather, jumped into training with casual matchmaking on and got a games every 5-10 minutes, which is fine. I was constantly being getting matched with French players however (I'm in Scotland), and I swear all of them were Ryu and a couple Ken. I'm getting sick of hearing their theme songs and really wish there was a way to default to stage themes. Maybe there is a way to change that, but I've not spotted one in the menu. Anyway, I ended up switching on ranked matchmaking as well and did alright. 50/50. Fell for the usual flowchart junk. =/

i've got some time over the weekend to spend on learning up - so what's hot right now tutorial wise. I main Karin at the moment. Any helps appreciated. =)

Don't know how much has changed since the last beta though.

Otherwise check this more recent one:

Was playing on ps4 and was having really bad lag (might be due to the whole rollback issue with pc players after alt tabing)

Moved to PC yesterday and its running like a dream, im on a 8 game win streak with my ryu (not including the last two that rage quited)

PC version just feels so much more smoother, really don't know why I bought it on ps4 lol

steam spy has it at around 100K

still, it's capcom's best performing PC fighter release if so

Mind sharing your CFN? I want to watch some of your replays as I main Karin but can't still get past 1000 LP.

When I'm playing ps4 to ps4 the matches have been great. But some lag happens when I crossplay with PC so I just disable crossplay. Luckily there are plenty of ps4 players out there so I don't have to worry about finding matches until things get figured out. I suggest others give that a try.

How good is the online? I want to buy this soon.

The netcode is good if you actually get a match going.

Matchmaking is a complete crapshoot. Some people get matches quickly. Others (meaning ME) get them never. I can only play online in lobbies. During the first week I got like six ranked/casual matches. This week I've gotten nothing.

So I should probably wait until the online is fixed?

not sure when online will be better even with the incoming March update. online is still playable as long as you search for 5 bars and hope people don't disconnect on you. I didn't have too many issues when the match actually starts.

How slow is "slow" for you? I get matches every 15-30 seconds of waiting.

depends, never consistent on when I find an opponent in MM. sometimes less than 20 or way more than that.

Been really good for me last several days in terms of matchmaking speed and lag.

As someone who is playing from europe. Generally find matches within a minute, and the vast majority of matches are lagfree. However the matches that have lag, are frustrating because of the teleporting that the netcode the game has causes. However, not a big issue due to the low number of matches that fit that bill.

Currently, the only real issue with online is the lack of a prevention system for penalizing people that are quitting excessively. However that is in the works.

That's not good. I'll probably wait a few months then.

If you plan on buying the pc version, you could always test how matchmaking is for you and if you're in the unlucky camp of ridiculous matchmaking times, use steam refund and get your money back.
