I'm not justifying it because the system is broken, I'm stating that people do it because the system is broken. And yes releasing a game without taking this into account is ridiculous and a massive oversight. Call me a fraud because I RQed a few matches, I'll take that, I deserve it, but I think the League's need tuning. People should always be getting points and feeling like they're progressing not feeling like they lost every thing they just earned when they lose a couple matches or have some scrubby Ryu beat them.

I don't want to beat a dead horse here, but this goes for anyone that's disconnecting right now because it's not being punished:

Having the ability to "RQ" in your pocket is not a good mentality. You are not going to be playing your matches 100% when you know in the back of your head that the consequences for a loss are optional. You will not play your best and you will not be encouraged to adapt or learn from your losses because, technically, you can't lose!

Everyone should be encouraged to take their losses now because there is no way Capcom isn't going to put in penalties for losing and they will likely be much harsher than if you take the L. But that isn't the only reason. That is actually a minor reason.

Seriously, you (and the countless others online) may not think there are consequences for a loss due to not losing points, but the greater consequence is a mentality you're unknowingly adopting and the way this will affect your play.

I wouldn't be so quick to accuse trophy hunters.

I've had people quit on me, when I check their PSN profile they have a negligible amount of trophies. Not a single of them had a platinum.

The trophy hunters are a minority, and the true trophy whores/hunters/enthusiasts read about the games beforehand and most won't even dare starting a daunting list like SFV while they could be platting something much more quickly and easily in the meantime.

As a trophy hunter myself, 90+ platinums, I play this game out of pure love for SF, it is not a good game to play if one is looking for trophy per hour ratio, trophy difficulty and so on. Besides, trophy hunters will most likelt resort to boosting other than rage quitting, which is not as time effective.
how the fook do you have 90+ platinum? You my small collection to shame man, to shame...

People are stressing too much about their LP.

When someone RQ's on me it's a kiss the fingers moment. Mmmm mmm delicious rage.

I literally don't give a single shit about LP and have barely touched ranked but I've also never gotten ragequits/fanmail in any other fighter so I kind of want to see for myself. Especially since PS4s record everything now.

You'd all watch our show.

How are ps4 players even rage quitting? Are they sitting next to their ps4s and pulling the plug, or are they force quitting back to the dash? Seems like a lot of work instead of taking the loss and moving on.

They should let you finish the match against the cpu, and if you win you get the full points.

w8wut, how would that work?

Probably just closing the application.

Outside of some trophy fetish, it's weird that people would care about LP anyway. You are what your record says you are, so why would you want to play higher level players who will just smoke you?

I agree dude, I think you're owed like at least one premium costume from Lucky when the store goes live in March...

I don't spam Rassenha... That's what I'm saying, I play footsies fine and wait for openings, but every now and again I drop a combo and get interputed midcombo (c.MP s.MP Rassenha + c.K). If the Rassenha in that combo comes out a fraction to late, I get interputed with a jab... Knocked down and that's when the match goes to shit.

I'm fine till I get knocked down... And then it's a string of the other played having their way with Karin... I can't seem to get back to the neutral game once I get knocked down.
Well you do have her Ex move which is a "get off me" button, and don't forget about V-reversal, it can save your life and reset someone who has momentum. Karin is good man, just play more good players.

Any good videos against these characters? I main Ryu.

Vs Birdie

As a Birdie main, I can tell what better Ryu's do to beat me.
Do's

-Be aggressive, as in, if you score a sweep/throw (although dashing in after a throw usually leaves you in a - position), stay in their face (f.HP or Jump in). Nothing Birdie has (except charged 2 buttons EX move and V-trigger) has armor/invincibility on wake up.
-Jump-in's on his wakeup to mix up. I can't tell you how many times I blocked wrong, either on the jump in OR the follow up attack even though you crossed up but landed in front of me. This problem is exacerbated in the corner (screen position is important)
-Make use of your quick dash to throw him/stick a quick attack in.
-Anti air him w/ st.HK, he has a narrow jump arc, don't commit to SRK as he can empty jump and bait it if your range isn't right.
-Make some parry guesses to score a knock down and rush him down.

Don't

-Throw fireballs haphazardly, Birdie has an answer for nearly every range. Long-Dolphin Dive, Medium-slide or f.HP, Close-Can punish with mediums
-Continuously walk backwards, you are NOT gonna have a good time if you are in the corner. Stand your ground, throw out fake fireballs qcf.LK, dash in after he whiffs st.MK.
-Continuously try to out footsie him especially w/ cr.MK, as Birdie's s.MK and other pokes are way better. You can try, but make sure you throw in a parry in there.

I think Birdie has the slight edge in the matchup, but if you can make some good parries, easily can go in Ryu's favor.

SMH at the mentality of RQers in general, as exemplified by the ones exposed here. I find it equal parts hilarious and depressing reading their excuses, knowing they actually believe it, and trying to laugh it off and continue being part of the general SFV discussion and community here.

You may have avoided the L in those games you quit on; but you have not, and will never avoid the L tag that will be forever associated with you for these RQs.

Someone mentioned earlier that we want to build a community here and not turn people away; that's true, but if they are bad apples we should turn them away; we want to build a healthy community after all. So, LnW, Shimmy et al - please just stop with the excuses and stop trying to participate; people here won't just forget about it. It's not okay to "admit" to being wrong if you immediately follow it up with your reasoning and excuse. It's wrong. You're wrong. Period. No excuse. If you can't grasp that - be on your way.

Basically if you connection is lost for any reason, a bot takes over for the person and the match finishes up

That sounds like a good alternative, if it's unclear who disconnected.
But should it be clear who disconnected he/she should get a loss and deduction of LP or FM and the other guy a win.

Super thank you. Can I have your CFN so we can play?
