Did any other Aurora owners get an email just now about an offer to upgrade to the Origin 300i for a $5 discount or something? Is that a good deal?
I backed this game out of hype back during the Kickstarter campaign, but never really followed it since.
Thanks!
Is the deal worth it? What are the caveats?
The upgrade from the Aurora to a 300i costs 10$, and it's valid until March 4th.
You can got to the site and compare them.

Personally I would rather have a 300i over and Aurora as I like the look of the 300 much much more. Others may disagree.

Would the lifetime insurance transfer over, do you know?
I feel quite lucky in that I got one of the special packages with a 350R. The double engine in the back and mounting options will make it one hell of an interceptor when I can fully outfit it.

The chances of an Aurora being valuable in any way shape or form is quite low. They're extremely cheap starter ships with tons sold. Even if a variant was truly rare, how many people would actually spend much on one? Given how little use they have, it would have to be one hell of a ship collector. Either that or an Aurora fanatic - assuming those even exist. (Can't say I've seen anybody crazy in love with the Aurora online.)I got this as well. I have an Aurora LX though which I think was a limited offer? Is it still available for purchase? Seems like I should keep the decommissioned one as that will be valuable as a collector's item?

Collectors come in all kinds.I agree. A "rare" Aurora is like saying "rare" brand new Toyota Camry.
You know I keep trying to get the ATT4, but the game always crashes as soon as I get going on the mission. Much sadness.
The Aurora is such an ugly ship. It's the Honda Element or Nissan Cube of Star Citizen.

Have you been getting a ton of the Cry Engine expecting frame errors and crashing to desktop? At least the built in error reporter catches it.
Still prefer it to 300i, because it has cargo![]()

Yeah, I went with the Avenger because I like the look but it also seems versatile enough for early stuff.
Yeah, that is the one. But like you said, the error reporter catches it.
Also, I finally spawned with my Gemini LH-86 in the room. I hope they eventually let me choose to spawn with it on my person.. I mean... I do own it!

I am not sure if the slide is really working.
Didn't see any more PTU invitations mentioned yet - are they still on the initial 1000? Weird considering they're up to version E.
it has some absolutely brutal stability issues and gameplay issues at the moment tbh. I am constantly losing my hud and ability to control my character correctly on top of cryengine animation errors.
It needs those to go away. hah

No, waiting for the game to come out IS the game.Wait this game has fps combat too?
Is it ever coming out?

Do the turrets have a radar yet. ?Hitched a ride on a Freelancer last night and boy, those guns pack a punch!
It's nice to see that the game is slowly starting to take form. I'm getting a good feeling about it.

Stealth too!
Sneak on ships and shoot people while waiting in the cargo hold or their bed
Love shooting them when they are going to EVA.If you already managed to get in the ship, why not commandeer it when nobody is around? Kind of pointless to twiddle your thumbs waiting for the pilot just so you can kill them. It's also needlessly dangerous in the case of multicrew ships where you can end up facing multiple opponents.
Spoilers:
In SC (or SQ42) you're going to get plastic surgery from Triss Merigold.

No, waiting for the game to come out IS the game.
Sounds like that would be the beginning of SC (which would logically be after the end of SQ42). Going by the content, I'm guessing we're going to be locked to a non-customizable main character for SQ42. Then we'll rebuild ourselves for SC in ME2 style lol. It would give them the benefit of being able to ship SQ42 without having to have the character customization pipeline completely in place. Would make having a set narrative easier as well. Could have anything happen to the MC throughout the campaign without having to worry about how it affects them in regards to SC.
IMO it is before SQ42. At the end they talk about the two options, the first of getting medical discharge (but no citizenship) and the second of joining the academy.
Good catch, but with that in mind, I think it would be before both. An account based character if that gets imported to either. SQ42 isn't required for SC and as such you aren't necessarily a citizen upon starting SC. (Citizenship is supposed to come from the SQ42 campaign or obtaining it later in SC proper.) Having that scene detached from either game leaves them with only having to make one character creation set piece, and the "choice" effectively becomes what game you want to play. As a bonus, technically it would allow them to distribute a character creator to anybody with an account regardless of whether they bought the game.
Unless I missed something and they skipped all expansions of the PTU, no.Is 2.2 on the normal servers yet?
All true, but I doubt that they'll do a Black Desert, they already seemed unconvinced when that was proposed by somebody.
bonus afterburner gif

Yeah, welcome to October 2012.Wait this game has fps combat too?
I love the kick of sparks when it first activates, almost like a new propellant was added upon ignition. Love it.
hahPretty, but I have to not let my mind dwell too much on how the concept of afterburners in space makes no sense. Rocket motors != turbojets.
hah
Anything that looks visually pleasing, on top of being a good mechanic, is alright with me.
