Honestly, it's not just the GOP. It's the Dems too. They've both brought Donald Trump rise's upon themselves. Bernie and Trump both say they're anti establishment candidates and to a point Bernie is anti establishment. The problem is he's still a politician...and has been for quite some time. Whether he's a good politician or a bad politician is moot.
Donald Trump is a guy. He's never had an active role in politics so the masses look at him as an outsider, a "breath of fresh air", and someone they can trust. That last one specifically is fucking nuts and just goes to show you that yes, the voting population really is that stupid.
Maybe if they stopped taking every single hand out that came their way from a corporation and didn't work as hard as humanly possible to legalize bribery people who actually trust politicians. That's where we're at right now. You'd hope that Trump's rise would make all of them see just how badly they screwed everything up but that won't happen. They benefit too much from the current system.
To them, Donald Trump is a cost of doing business.
