About time Vermont is called.

7-2-1 with Alaska pending. Not bad for Trump. The big hurt will be all the delegates that go to Cruz due to Texas, making a brokered convention more likely.

There's a segment of Americans who are socially liberal but are authoritarian (pro-corporation/pro-military industrial complex). I know some people like this but I've been surprised by how strident they are here. I can't imagine enthusiastically supporting that position, and Hillary as a candidate based on her policy positions, but some genuinely do. Others seem to be genuinely scared by the current state of the right, and want to go with the safest option, which is understandable, particularly for vulnerable groups with lots to lose. It's fascinating, anyway.
That dismissiveness. Sounds very similar to the way bernie discussed why he couldn't win in SC.

I was expecting sanders to get like 2 states. I'm happy with the 4. Isn't he supposed to do a by better with the states coming up?

If you're left pointing to states 20 days away he could maybe win worth like 130 delegates, while there are states like Ohio, Illinois, Florida and NC that in themselves are worth as much or nearly as much. Eh.

He can probably win places like Kansas, Nebraska and Maine though.

At some point Caspar needs to be free.

What's depressing about this election season for me is that despite police brutality against African Americans specifically being perhaps the biggest domestic issue this past year, I feel like it's going to be forgotten in the mix no matter who becomes president. I don't blame them, but I think Black Lives Matter has ultimately had little impact on the actual direction of the election.

The Republicans unanimously don't give a fuck, so it's a no-go there. But even on the Democrat's end, for such a massive and massively publicized issue in the media, it has been severely underrepresented or absent altogether from the debates, and I think that bodes extremely poorly for action after assuming office. My gut tells me Hillary doesn't have it on her radar, and for someone who will so quickly shift her tone to pander to whatever is trending at the moment, she hasn't done so in the face of Black Lives Matter protests. And while I think Bernie has acknowledged the issue a bit more (and gone even further with his prison system reform), I still do feel like it's going to hit the back burner for him since every time he opens his mouth he can't help but to bring it back to wall street speculation blah blah. I don't think he's a single issue candidate, but man, he does seem to have an affinity for some over others.

Kind of irrelevant to Super Tuesday I guess, but my 2c.

No doubt he has to figure out a way to win Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and Florida. But as far as a single one day punch, today was Hillary's best shot at him. We will see if his funding continues and he has time and exposure.

I'm black myself. I'm not dismissing anything, it's a legitimate fear. A Trump/Cruz/Rubio presidency would be terrible for black people. These guys hate us, or their voters do, no doubt. Just, for me, there are issues that trump race in this campaign.

The people who are demanding that Bernie drop out today are the same people who said Bernie should drop out after Iowa.

Hillary didn't drop out in the 2008 primaries until June.

Stop it guys. You know what you're doing is wrong.

I don't expect Bernie to win the nomination (nor do most people), so the football-spiking that goes on in these threads by Hillary fans always strikes me as petty. Why not be happy with just winning?

How do you feel about some Sanders supporters calling blacks stupid for not supporting him?

At least we have Ben Carson...

wait what

A better night that I expected for Bernie but that delegate gap is far too large to overcome and that's not counting the super delegates that will not swing to Bernie unless he starts piling up win after win
I'm curious where is he going to dominate Hilary so hard like she did to him in the south to make up the delegates
Dear lord at the destruction of Rubio though

I think Sanders should keep going for a whole host of reasons. But he's going to lose ultimately. Just as became clear after he didn't win Iowa.

He's proven to be a much more legitimate candidate than he was given credit for until voting started, and that he got as much support as he did gives me hope for the direction the country is going in.

Maybe in eight years, a younger version of Sanders will be able to win the nomination and the Whitehouse... but we have a bit more progress to make first.

I think that's racist. I also think you're generalizing. Do you have a response other than "but Bernie"?

Your original post implied that Bernie fans were above that sort of thing. What sort of response do you expect when you miss-characterize the whole Bernie fan - Hilary fan relationship?

Yeah, it's a bad look spin.

I suppose it's.....

Pragmatic, though. :)

Not really? Why would it make sense for the primary to be focused on states that usually go Democratic? They usually go Democratic. It makes a lot more sense for the primary to focus on getting a candidate acceptable to the voters in red and purple states, so that they can be flipped.

We watched Obama vs. the obstructionists, and many Republicans that didn't obstruct lost their jobs to candidates who promised to obstruct. This will only get worse with Sanders. It's not that I'm scared by the right, its that I want government to function, and I don't sense Sanders has the nuance to make sure it does. I love him as a senator, not as a president.

You legit got a laugh out of me. I needed that. Ben "PC culture is strangling us" "one of the good ones" Carson... my daughter came home last month and said one of her teachers supports Carson. I think I've still got the palm print on my face!

As a black person who (I think has the right to) think that my fellow african americans aren't voting for what's best for the overall community, am I racist? Is this calling black people (myself too) stupid?

Just because Bernie does well with liberal whites doesn't mean you can assume that every faceless post critiquing the portion of the Black vote that voted for Clinton is an example of racism.

In all seriousness I think Bernie has an image problem. He just comes off very preachy. Even more so than Clinton at this point. Clinton has managed to come off much more approachable within the last few weeks. She knocked that town hall out of the park.

I think Bernie's progressive ideas are great. Even if I believe these ideas are sometimes not feasible in our country's current climate.

I'm really hoping that democrats actually show up to vote. Too much at stake here to sit at home and pout.

My parents had me read gifted hands a few times when i was younger. I'll never be able to see the Carson in the same light. He has truly tarnished his legacy.

From my understanding she's not well liked there anymore, especially since she quit her job (lol), so I'm guessing it's a wash. Trump is still favored to win though.
Cruz was the only one spending money, it's so weird to actually see a national political ad on TV, usually we just get ignored, like we will after today since Trump has our three electoral votes locked up

Anything can happen :)

a viral debate moment, a "gaffe", some compelling new ad campaign

It's like in sports, right? We don't play the games on paper, otherwise the number 1 seed would always win. We make the teams go through to the end, even in a blow-out. And usually the result is expected, but every once in a while the Aaron Rodgers completes the Hail Mary.

That wasn't my implication. Has Bernie won anything worth spiking?

Tonight's loser for sure is Rubio. Damn.

I think he was expecting to break 200 delegates tonight, but he only got around 150 most likely which probably is below his expectations. Cruz did pretty good tonight. He could be doing better, but at least he's in second place for the delegate count for now.

I can find a quote in this thread and others literally doing what I said.

Can you find one doing what you said?

Please stop it. I'm so tired of the in-fighting among Democrats.

Do you realize what you're doing is going to hurt Hillary's chances in the general election?

Not in this thread, but there was someone standing right next to Hillary at one of her events - she said there was a special place in hell for women who didn't vote Hillary.
