Captain America: Civil War - Final Trailer

Unlike in Deadpool where the eyes are done "cause it looks cooler" (and it does), the Spidey eyes in the MCU are probably more thought-out in universe.

Tony Stark, being the cheeky guy that he is, and who helped design the costume, made the eyes some kind of panels that emulate his Peter's actual expression.

So damn awesome.

They absolutely are. The hi-res shot people keep hotlinking from screenrant gives a pretty good look at the eyes, which are surrounded by interlocking sliding shutters making the eyes shrink and grow.

How can you even hurt Black Panther? His suit is vibranium, right? He doesn't even flinch when that helicopter mini-gun drops some bullets on him.

I'm more excited for Black Panther than I am Spiderman.

I'd be even more excited if Deadpool showed up and killed them all.

Shitbook btw.

That was a great trailer until Spidey opened his mouth. Actually started laughing at how weak his "hey everyone" sounded. It might work in the movie, but it lacked any impact as the end of the trailer.

He also just has no sass in the delivery of that line. He sounds like, you know how people sound when they talk into a mic for the firs time and are surprised to hear their own voice? I mean, can't judge his whole performance based on that, but def not excited.

That was some real rage when Iron Man punched Cap. And it seems way more genuine hatred than "It's just safer this way bro".

Pepper or Rhodey getting iced

...you made that sound way more endearing than I think you intended.

It's not as though it was normal throughout her entire comic history for her to be powered up to House of M levels.

Even at her current MCU level power it's mind-boggling
what the spoiler suggests
. Especially when we see her bringing Vision down to his knees in this trailer.

He looks great!

imo its a bit washed out overall, but I don't think this is the final cut we're seeing. In the movie i expect more color saturation and some texture as well.

Also, mechanical eye shutters? Hot damn.
as long as there is a plausible reason for it e.g. to reduce glare/light sensitivity under the mask.

Well, he is saying hello to a shitload of heroes. Makes sense to be nervous about it.

Go check out the high res still. YouTube's compression really fucked up Spidey there.

So how may 3 point landings are we going to have in this movie?

My pet peeve in action movies.

Black widow is good for at least 4 per movie.
Captain america will have at least 1
Iron Man loves his 3 point landings, so I say 3
Thor hmmm...1
Spiderman might be be the new champ, I say 5 to 7 in this movie.
Black Panther, will surely have at least 3.
Antman will have tons, but they will be too small to see. har har...

We need a 5 year ban on 3 point landings!

Stupid rant over lol

So. The eyes on the suit make zero sense.

And I know he's young, but he should be trying to sound like a grown up. Because... you know. That's what Peter Parker did when he was a kid. He didn't just disguise himself to disguise his true identity, but also to hide his real age.

It's okay. Andrew Garfield was great in the suit and out of it (however you feel about the stories of the last two movies) so it's a tough comparison.

And yeah, it's only two seconds, and I genuinely hate to be that guy, but there's two major problems in those two seconds.

Shoulda been Miles to avoid comparisons.

3 point landing complaints.

Someone predicted that this would come. Was it Bobby?

Isn't that the perfect delivery of the line then considering the character and the situation ?

Impressions:
-Glad they haven't given away very much with the trailers, just enough to whet my appetite
-Last trailer hit the emotional notes a little better but both were serviceable for selling the story with just enough hype moments while also not giving away too much. Good but not great.
-Tough to get too hyped since lots of the scenes we've already seen. The Tony/Steve scenes, the Bucky/Panther chase, the airport stand off, etc.
-What is new was a nice tease for what's to come: Wanda vs Vision, Antman X Hawkeye, Spider-Man reveal
-The new touches on the Spider-Man costume are a little peculiar. Not jarringly bad, nor awesomely inspired, but some change to differentiate it was expected and could have been worse (way worse honestly having seen so many fan redesigns lately). It looks very much like Spidey though and is even preferable to some comic suit redesigns imo.
-The colors, webs, the symbol, the design, the Ditko inspired eyes! It looks like Spider-Man! I really like this take. Excited to see more.
-Speaking of eyes, animated eyes! I was wondering how they might pull it off, but I'm glad they still have them get a little bigger than human size but it looks like they are almost like articulating lenses (they made a sound when they adjust smaller) so maybe they don't quite emote in the traditional sense. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but bigger -> smaller is pretty good in terms of what they can still convey.
-I'm a little worried that Rhodey is just in the movie to job to TeamCap. I don't think he will die, but I'd be disappointed if he is only an Avenger for like 20 minutes and then get incapacitated for the rest of the film.

Overall, Marvel played it pretty safe and close to the vest, but they've seemed to have managed to not spoil so much of the film that I can't be mad and I'm hyped for what is in store. As a trailer goes, it's ok, it shows enough story set up to sell people that won't be as familiar with it as well as enough fan-service to get the die-hard fans pumped.

The eyes are probably a Tony Stark invention. This is the first time we've seen Spidey in a movie getting called in by his cool uncle. Going to just assume Peter, with Stark resources/support ... can produce a mask like that.

That's not how lenses work though. Narrowing like that would do very little to reduce the light actually hitting his pupil.

It is. More so considering he's grown up watching these heroes and now HE IS ONE of them. I'm surprised he wasn't falling over himself.

Since if he is 15... Then he was like what 7? When Iron Man became a thing. He grew up hearing of them.

Totally agree.
