Captain America: Civil War - Final Trailer

So. The eyes on the suit make zero sense.

And I know he's young, but he should be trying to sound like a grown up. Because... you know. That's what Peter Parker did when he was a kid. He didn't just disguise himself to disguise his true identity, but also to hide his real age.

It's okay. Andrew Garfield was great in the suit and out of it (however you feel about the stories of the last two movies) so it's a tough comparison.

And yeah, it's only two seconds, and I genuinely hate to be that guy, but there's two major problems in those two seconds.

Shoulda been Miles to avoid comparisons.

I don't even... in what version did Spider-Man ever try to disguise his voice or sound like a grown up? Sure wasn't any live-action/animated property he's been in. He invariably sounds like a teenager who's voice hasn't fully broken.

Looking at his belt...do I see.... cartridges? 0.o I'm excited if so!

I'm torn on Spidey's suit. I like the small chest spider but am not feeling the spider's shape. I dislike the stripe across both biceps and shins but am digging the rest of the colors and shapes. And the eyes? I like the idea of the eye showing expression but would rather just have it be CGI that is done because reasons rather than some kind of cybernetic lenses. It looks better than I feared though.

It is. More so considering he's grown up watching these heroes and now HE IS ONE of them. I'm surprised he wasn't falling over himself.

Since if he 15... Then he was like what 7? When Iron Man became a thing. He grew up hearing of them.

This Spider-Man probably witnessed the events of the first Avengers movie from his backyard or apartment window. It's great getting a reboot for Spider-Man when the story can dip into the MCU.

The eyes are probably a Tony Stark invention. This is the first time we've seen Spidey in a movie getting called in by his cool uncle. Going to just assume Peter, with Stark resources/support ... can produce a mask like that.

But I see no practical reason for it. Look I get that they've done it to mimic the changes in his eye size we see in the comics and cartoons to help convey Peter's emotions... but seeing it in the trailer makes it obvious that it's a mechanical device....

And I can't figure out what else it's doing than conveying his emotions... and why that would be remotely useful for a superhero.

It was in these comic books that a guy called Stan Lee wrote. The shit talking was also false bravado to hide how scared he really was.

This looks more like Avengers 3 than Captain America. Whats the difference from the Avengers? That thor and hulk don't exist? Because those are the only ones missing from this movie. I miss the time when an iron man movie starred iron man and when a captain america movie starred captain america. Now its like iron man stars the avengers and captain america guess who, the avengers again, boring.

This...

Thi...

This is the first "standalone" movie with more than half the avengers in it?

Winter Soldier had 2 supporting actors (Basically a origin for Falcon) and AntMan had a cameo scene.

I dont understand?

I've never seen so much criticism over two words said in a trailer as much as Spiderman's.

People being overly critical and judgmental.

"Man his voice! Is he like twelve!?" "There's no sass in his delivery!"

Well, picture this; at first Tony calls him "Underoos". You possibly can't make a cool guy intro after you've been called Underoos. Also Spidey should be a seventeen-ish year old kid in a pretty low tech costume. He might have stolen Cap's shield, but he is surrounded by a bunch of super powered types. Yeah, I'd keep the sass for a moment.

Or maybe we'll see more in the movie.

I don't go round looking for Lego sets, I doubt I would have encountered one before or after seeing the film, and you can bet any website posting the pictures in an article would use a spoiler warning. What's not to understand here?

if you've gone so far down the rabbit hole of SPOILERS that even official merchandise spoils you then its no longer the publics responsibility to protect you. Just leave the internet alone and don't step foot outside for a couple months.

That's not how lenses work though. Narrowing like that would do very little to reduce the light actually hitting his pupil.

So then its all flash and no substance. I mean, its still a pretty cool way of reintroducing spidey facial expressions, but i'm not sure how to feel about that.

It looks...fine. A little bit of a "generic Marvel movie" feel though. Nothing really blew me away. Maybe a more interesting choice of music might have helped.

Or maybe Marvel fatigue is starting to set in with me, I dunno.

I wish they'd called this Avengers: Civil War for two reasons.

1. There are more actual Avengers in this than in the last two Avengers movies (1, definitely, 2 I think).

2. Calling it Avengers: Civil War would have made it a tad less obvious who was going to win.

Tony Stark chose red for his Iron Man suit despite Jarvis insisting it had no tactical advantage. It could easily be written off in the film as a character preference. It does make the character cartoony. Kind of got a Green Lantern vibe from the suit and a Deadpool vibe from the eyes. Ryan Reynolds must be haunting this trailer.

Pretty exciting.

Also looking forward to the Scarlet Witch/Vision fight. Comic spoilers:
And the eventual make up? :D

He sounds so much younger though. Like pre-teen spiderman.

TBH it sounds like they did a quick ADR just for the trailer to introduce the character since it doesn't seem to match the scene quite right. It wouldn't surprise me if they did, considering a bunch of trailers have dialogue that don't actually end up in the film.

I wouldn't mind that but this movie was always going to be Avengers 2.5 for me. Esp after a lackluster Age of Ultron.

You get technical and BP, Bucky, Spiderman, and Antman aren't avengers.

AoU established Avengers B Team : Vision, SW, Falcon, and War Machine

Either way this is pretty much the first movie to load up the characters so the poster who said standalone movies are avenger movies is kinda wrong.

How do the eyes not make sense? They seem to be like camera lenses. If they zoom in and out to let him see where to fire his webs better, then they make sense.

Spider-man looks like a plush doll with animated eyes. MCU pulling another Quicksilver. Take an IP you're bitter about not having then ruin that character.

I've watched the spidey part frame for frame.

HE'S GOT A MITE SPIDER ON HIS BACK!!! FINALLY!!

BEEN WAITING FOR A MOVIE SUIT WITH THE HUGE SPIDER ON THE BACK RSTHER THEN A REHASH OF THE FRONT. FEELS SO GOOD

So in the rivals teaser thread there was some outrage when Bucky was shooting Tony in the face, the defense was that Tony deviated the gun to catch the bullet for someone else. What now?

I like Spiderman's suit in this. Obviously they needed to change it up to distinguish it from the previous Spiderman designs but they managed to still have him look like, you know, Spiderman.

Camera lens eyes are pretty clever too.
