so im not the only one who immediately thought of 60's spiderman memes?

Surprised so many people seem to oppose an actual teenage spider-man when the MCU is already chock-full of sarcastic adult white males.

Not that being a teenager is huge diversity but it should add a new dynamic.

Also, this is a Captain America movie, yet it has more Marvel superheroes than the Avengers. Not that I'm complaining, but anyone else think that's odd?

They only did it so people would stop with the: Where was Iron Man/Cap/Hawkeye through all of that? Plothole!

;P

No it's not weird. TWS was very well received. Cap 3 was going against BvS and they took the opportunity to make the movie larger with a bigger event and cast.

yes ty. and with Tony's sigh...I must say I got the vibe he netted his first Avenger and started having feelings about it all. Like someone off screen is talking shit to him or asking "how could you do this!" And you see the sadness in Tony of doing what he believes is right even if he feels otherwise.

I wonder...if he did grab someone, who might the first one have been? Bruce??? :O

There is where Hulk "crash landed", right? ;)

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

holy fuck I missed that on the first watch. So I guess this is their answer for having people side with Cap.

Are people really unfamiliar with how Civil War goes? I don't mean like, the plot specifics, which won't matter because they won't be used in this, but the general outline concept which will be the same.

- Bunch of superhero fuckups add up
- Legislation proposed
- Tony is pro-registration
- Steve doesn't like the idea of overreacting so he steps aside
- Pro-registration turns into "Join us... or else" because Tony really sucks
- Steve sides with those who refuse to be arrested for simply not agreeing
- Tony -really- sucks so every step is more escalation

I expect them to follow that tone pretty closely without using a single actual plot point from the comics.

The higher res shot of Spiderman does him a lot more justice. His suit looked a bit too latex-ey in the trailer.

Black Panther looks amazing though. Why is he considered Marvel's Batman? Wouldn't he be more like the equivalent of Aquaman because they both are the leaders of a nation?

Makes sense. So basically Tony is hunting down people in the movie (that explains what he says to Widow) and Captain is not happy about it.

Most likely. And both become sympathetic characters along the way. Both sides are pretty clear...and I think anyone who is an actual regular human living in the MCU would very much be on Tony's (and the gubament's) side on this one. Though we know that without their intervention, things probably would have turned out worse for humanity.

I knew Tony was pro-registration, I didn't know there was an underwater jail, and this added the aspect of Bucky so I thought they'd change it enough

Yes, most are unfamiliar. Assume most here do not read comic books or haven't read all associated story lines. I used to be avid in the late 90s in my youth. No longer. So it's all new for people like myself and it's quite entertaining that way.

What the hell!?! Spider-Man sounds like some kid in high school!

Not watching.

Aquaman is a loose cannon and a poor ruler. Why would anyone compare him to Black Panther? Lol.

In the comics, Tony, Reed, and Hank got the brilliant idea that the best way to win the love and respect of their fellow heroes would to be build a jail -in the Negative Zone- to lock their friends away if they didn't agree. It was... something. :P

Remember the brief discussion in the last thread about Baron Zemo's (lack of a) role in the movie and what to expect? That was right before the trailer popped up and distracted everyone.

Well, I still don't see no Zemo lol. Not looking good for being a substantial part of the film. :(

duck baby you gotta give people more context. you keep assuming people have a broad frame of reference and read these comics like you do. they don't. this man's depth of understanding between Aquaman and Panther is clearly limited to just their status as rulers. So educate!

Spiderman looks too bright ala Cap1.

Wonder is what the point of them lining up on 2 sides and running into battle. Looks more like a high school war. What happens after that? I beat you so you go back to jail?

If Zack was making that part, it will probably done in the back drop of a flaming half destroyed Stark tower with lots of grain and lens flare. Sombre total

I'm assuming Crossbones is the opening act badguy ala Batroc in the last movie, and a lop of Cap 3 stuff happens in the middle involving Cap/Falcon/Bucky/Zemo, before eventually exploding into Avengers 2.5 in the conclusion.

Maxima and Bloodwynd got to ride the coat tails of the biggest comic book story ever, but never got a rub in popularity. What trash.

Doomsday was an okay set up for the stories that followed. Funeral For a Friend and A World without a Superman.

But the BEST thing to come out of Doomsday was the SNL Superman's Funeral

I miss Chris Farley.

I am sorry if that is region locked for anyone.

Bloodwynd lol

Considering the length of the movie I think they're holding back from showing significant plot elements from the trailers. Which is awesome as we know too many movies get spoiled by trailers these days.

I want to know what the hell is going on in the yellow tank to the right here:

That kinda looks like the same sort of facility we saw at the start of the trailer, maybe it's related to Bucky's past? Hydra probably still has secrets related to the Winter Soldier.

Zemo's motivations are a complete mystery. And to be honest, that's kinda awesome! We haven't seen a single frame of him in the promotional material which means one of two things. Either he's a chump like Strucker and is introduced only to be taken out immediately or the Russos are playing a long con and are saving him as a big surprise. If it's the former, I'm gonna riot. Strucker got shafted so hard.

I'm not sure anyone can job as hard as Strucker did in AoU. Jeez, what a fucking let down. :/

Does anyone here think they'll have a quick scene of Abomination in the prison?

It's something that they've done in I think every movie with a group of heroes, I guess it's trying to show in motion what a splash page would be in a comic. Avengers 1 had them in a circle getting ready to fight, Avengers 2 had that stupid slow-mo jump in the opening where they were all lined up, Civil War has this Crows Zero fight opening.
