Stardew Valley |OT| Resting Under a Harvest Moon [Up: now on PS4]

And this is why I love fishing. This is from year 1, spring 15 on a rainy day:

Yeah, that's over 7k worth of fish, on the 15th day. And I actually stored 500-1k worth of fish in a chest besides those. Got some magma geodes and coal and whatnot along the way.

HOW

By the way I really appreciate that when Night Falls in Stardew Valley it gets fucking daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark. Like, barely able to see in front of your hands oh god you better get lamps and shit working at some point dark. It still gets dark way too late for my tastes (does it vary by season? I sure hope so!) though.

The zoom option in 1.05 is fantastic.

I managed to hit A, B, A on my controller when I was hovering over my really good sword. Instantly thrown in the garbage. Right at the end of a really good day too. Saved up for a Lava Katana to replace it. The upgrade wouldn't have seemed necessary with the sword I had before, but I haven't
gone to the desert yet, where there is apparently another cave.

I like that it happens too, but I also like this ring I have that puts a big glow around me at all times. Glow Ring and Magnet Ring have been on me at all times. Haven't really found anything better. But no, I haven't noticed it getting darker sooner in the other seasons.

Nah, it getting dark doesn't really seem to vary by season. Some places in the world like the equator are like that, though.

I will be playing this game for a long, long time. It's just so damn peaceful. It's not flawless, but for what it does, it's pretty damn close to a 10/10 game. The world needs more PC games like this.

Don't create more than 10 Lightning Rods; only 10 will get struck by lightning.

I finally caught an octopus. This took me half of spring, because he only appears in the morning and I only had him once per day on the hook. Next up is a dorado -.-

I'm going to get the Rusty Key in the next morning.

My goal of having 30 bee houses is finally reached. They pull in ~10k every three days.

I was level 6 fishing, it was a rainy day, I headed straight for the forest river next to Leah's cottage, because of catfish, and fished all day until 10:30-11:00. Easy =p

Also salmonberry season, so I had plenty of those and some field snacks to fuel my day of fishing.

IMO, fishing is the key to getting a good run going. The income potential is completely unmatched in the early game. It's gonna be key to getting this second playthrough of mine to go as planned. At day 17 I already have a coop being built and two summer fruit trees planted, a variety of crops growing and level 7 fishing to ensure I'll be able to expand even more.

I intend to have a silo built after the coop(Coop first entirely because I wanted to get something started and didn't have the clay to fund a silo at the moment). Will make sure to have at least one copper tool, preferably more, but the watering can will be upgraded at the end of the season for sure. And I want to have the Iridium rod by season end, too. This stuff should be easy enough to accomplish and then some at the rate I'm going. I want to complete the community center by the end of the first year on this playthrough.

I knew this was going to happen... Over the winter I decided it was a good time to fix the layout of my crop fields, finally get a barn, coop and silo built, and finally start working on some walls and paths...

Well a couple bad decisions, 25k gold and about 2k stone and wood later and I hate my farm. I think I might have to tear everything down and start from scratch.

Lost the first time because I had no idea what to do and didn't realize they give you like no time. Second time I knew what I had to do and I ran, I ran so far away, I just ran to pick eggs all night and day

I keep all of my items in 5 chests next to my house. I was just moving things between them before going to bed for the night and accidentally placed a cherry bomb down in front of them. Blew up and took all of my chests and items with it...

edit: reloaded, mannnnnnnnn I did SO much during this day. D:

I did this same thing but luckily I was just starting to sort stuff between chests and I barely had anything in the chest that blew up.

Omw home from Chicago. Sad that I'm leaving cuz it was a lot of fun, but I'm also pretty hyped to start a new playthrough, use a controller, and not lose the first fishing rod they give me haha.

I thought blowing up my new stone fence was bad hahahaha.

(I immediately sold all bombs from that point forward - good money anyway)

I'm surprised by just how much depth and content this game has.

I'm closing in on 20 hours played at the end of Fall year 1, and there is still so much I haven't even done.

This is exactly why I sold all my bombs. I'd accidentally blow up the cat or some shit.

Can someone help me? I build the Slime Farm but i have a slime in my house, can i move it? Should I kill it?

This game has a lot more depth to it than I had previously thought.

Where are you at? Because god damn I played almost 60h and still find some new things each time i play!

Is that sequence scripted to make you lose?

Because I thought the exact same thing.

Nah, I won the second time I did it

Hold up, how did you get your fishing to level 6 so early within Year 1 Spring?

Fishing, other than $$$ for the rod(s), is pretty much independent of everything else. 10-15 days for lv6 fishing doesn't sound rushed at all.

So, Ive been playing with the original exe with an injector for time and diagonal movement since the start. Mods and bugging minigames at the fall festival made me change to the latest update (I also wanted to zoom out in the farm that I dont know still how its done).

So I play the updated game and now controlling with a controller is bugged as shit (the mouse pointer appears randomly flickering and the player moves strangely when watering the farm for example), diagonals do not feel as good as with mod and I for the life of me I dont know how to do the zoom out in my farm (using a controller, wouldnt surprise me is with keyboard only, but I dont know which button is either).

Its cool he is updating the game nearly every half week, but its a pty it feels worse than the vanilla game with just the injector mod.

Hold up, how did you get your fishing to level 6 so early within Year 1 Spring?

I got level 10 by the start/middle of summer. If you fish all time at the beggining instead of making a good farm and entering much the caves, you can. The income is much better than both of those at the start also. You can get 5000/7000 depending of the luck that day.

The biggest issue so far is the writing just isn't witty enough to make the inhabitants particularly memorable.

Otherwise it's been an enjoyable waste of time.

WHERE THE FUCK IS MARNIE?

I looking for her all around the map on a thursday because that lazy fucker never attends her store and I dont even want to buy anything for her, i just was to give her a diamond for her birthday. She porbably has the worst time placement in the whole game.

The events are the star of the writing (and gameplay mechanics, because some events also make you do extra fun things).

But yeah the characters at the beggining, the one liners are probably not really memorable.

Are you guys having trouble with the zoom? I tried like 90% and the camera kept kind of lagging, which was weird.

Ridley did you check Pierre's house? I know she does her calisthenics with the rest of the women, but i don't know if it's on Tuesday or Thursday.

I'm playing wit 75% zoom and I wish that I could play with 50-60%. No problems.

I think it is on a tuesday.

How are some of you making over 10k per day from fishing?

I have my fishing skill at level 9, catch all gold quality fish, and can bring in about 35 fish per day - yet that usually only amounts to around 4500 gold.

Different fish sell for different amounts.

Catfishes (river, spring, rainy) sell for a cartload, AND spawn very often when they do.

edit: No idea if luck affects types of fish.

Probably Penny and Sam for me.

Alex also likes to randomly wander off to all different locations, but at least he's consistently at one place at 9am.

Never played any HM game, so this is my first of the genre. I just played for over half an hour and I didn't really do anything... and yet I find myself in love with it already. LOL Really well-made. Every detail seems so thoughtful and painstakingly crafted. Can't wait to really dive in.

Just had the best raining day ever, after never raining nearly the whole fall month.
Catched all fall fish in great quanitites, can do the community packs with them, the abigail event when raining finally appeared, did multiple sidequest one after the other becuase the rain helped, and of course, didnt had to water the damn crop field.
Basically...

Is Tuesday. Thrusdays she dissapears from the map til 4pm she goes to her hous directly to her microwave. Had to give her the gift there.

Also, how do you zoom out? Anyway with the controller?

Its not the same fishing 20 carps than fishing 10 catfish, or any medium difficult fish. If the bar goes fast when you are trying to catch, that fish costs 150-200 (and goes for more depending of the star level). Fall is a bad month if it doesnt rain, summer is excellent when it doesnt, etc... Also some locations good fish never appear. The best places are the part where the river widens in the west forest (there are some small bridges), the open ocean in the east of the map piers and the big lake infront of the caves. Going into the dark blue spots gives you better fish most of the time.

Also luck affects star level of the fish you catch that day. With bad luck and a good fishing level, you will usually catch silvers instead of golds.

Penny is during weekdays in the library with the kids. Sam (is the blonde one?) is always around his house slacking.

Hmmm...that's probably my issue - I've done all of my fishing in the fall. I'll do some in the winter and then wait until spring/summer to see how I do.

Also, I just realized that you can't organize items within a chest in terms of their location. A little annoying.

If you have a controller you probably need to use the options screen to change the zoom.

Also why is no one posting their farmer personas? Here's Ms. Julia Kowalski:

Holyyyyyyyyyyyy
the zoom is incredible!
Playing 80% zoom and I can see everything now. No pesky npc will be out of my vision now.

Looks awesome!! :)

I have to say I feel almost lame for using most the defaults on the character creator. I dinked around with it for a good 15min but I went back to the 1's.

Just finished my first year. Day 1 of spring was so stressful. Planted something like 150 crops, got a couple animals for the first time (sucked cause there was almost no grass/hay on the ground), my fruit trees I planted on the 1st of winter sprouted too. There was so much to do, my character had energy at the end of the day but I was sapped IRL. I had to reload once cause I math'd real bad and bought way too many seeds.

I've made peace with the layout of my farm a bit. I was disappointed because I put my crops a bit of a walk down the path from my main house. I didn't realize how much I needed that instant surprise gratification of seeing newly ripened crops waiting for me right as I walked out the door. I gotta walk down there every day to water my bean rows anyways, so whatever. When I upgrade to bigger barns and coops I'll probably rearrange a bit and put my main crop fields closer to my house again.

Here's the shithole:

Dumb question but do you have to water fruit trees every day of the season prior to them being fully grown? Or just clear out the surrounding tiles and then they are all right on there own?
