Yeah, it's not true at all and anyone who thinks so probably hates good movies

While I'm not gonna pin comic puritanism on everyone as that'd be narrow-minded, if you look at how downright stingy/picky fans are about things like the lines on his suit, it's just not difficult for me to imagine that this extends to every other facet; if someone can be that nitpicky about a suit, I can see how the same kinds of folks would hate on something like Spider-man 2 because it isn't what they had in mind. I just think there's a ridiculous level of entitlement when it comes to diehards, but that's really nothing new and spans every single form of entertainment and fiction.

As for the posts above, I still maintain that Amazing Spider-man 2 is a good if not messy in some ways movie. But it has great moments and awesome performances/chemistry among the cast. The ending is super well done. My main grief is who wrote it, which explains some of the messiness. Marc Webb and the cast did the best they could do with it, and honestly they did salvage some of the bad writing through great directing and acting. I thought it was far superior to say either Thor movie, Age of Ultron, etc.

Probably the most emotional scene I've seen in a comic book movie.

I had to strangle my junk to keep the tears from flowing.

Garfield sold it.

I'm not sure how you do that scene any better. Just the total finality of it, especially since you know damn well what's coming

Just about the only complaint I've read claims Gwen smacking her head robs Peter of some guilt. How in the comic Peter believes he saved Gwen, when his webbing caused the whiplash.

I never got that. He's still partly responsible and didn't save her in time, and did feel an incredible amount of guilt at the end of the movie to the point where he stopped being Spiderman.

all you 30-40 year olds that 'grew up' with Spider-man whining about a teenage age Spider-man once more are really not the audience Marvel's after w/ this reboot, but the little kids that will be spending their allowance on the merch and keep the Spider-man juggernaut PUNCHING.

they KNOW the older fanbase will continue to support/buy whatever they put out regardless, but it's that younger boy & girl demo they're after... especially the Justin Bieber/1D/Harry Potter/Hunger Games younger female audience.

I put off watching ASM2 for ages, cos I heard it was shit. Watched it last month and fucking loved it! Easily the best Spiderman film.

Even a mention of Spider-Man 2 makes me want to go watch for the upteenth time. I remember when Spidey did this. Small moment, sure, but man did I totally feel like I was watching Spidey go.

Just wondered.

Who cleans up all of the disgusting webbing this guy leaves off around NYC?

ASM2 is one of those special films where you know every aspect of it was put together by a series of computer algorithms. I thought it was trash and still walked out wanting a coke and a sony device.

And this is the problem I have with people just not watching something for themselves rather than taking negativity for gospel. It got some shit, but it wasn't widely hated. A lot of people were against that reboot from the get-go, let alone a sequel to said reboot.

...but it's okay now lol

lol

'no rebooting spider-man damnit it's too soon!'

'waaah pls give us spider-man in marvel'

Steve visiting Peggy at the hospital in Winter Soldier takes that title.

I like that scene too, but if we're bringing up Winter Soldier, "I'm with you 'till the end of the line" is my choice.

I also really like the scene in Iron Man 2 with Howard speaking to Tony in his recording. I felt that was one of the strongest moments in the whole IM trilogy.

Harry was a girl thief and they had zero chemistry
MJ was a drama queen and a flop stage actress
Peter was a dumbass
LMAO. They totally were. Especially the bolded Haha.

I can agree with this. Give it a watch folks. It's not all that bad. At least watch it for Gwen Stacy.

I like the guy saying no to crossbones. The guy was clearly terrified but it didn't matter.

I loved the first one, probably as much as Spider-man 2 in many ways, if not more. Spider-man 2 is more "perfect" from a filmmaking and story point, but I enjoyed and was engaged by the first Amazing Spider-man just as much. So I was pretty devastated when I learned that Orci and Kurtzman were writing the sequel. The first Amazing was written by Steve Kloves (Harry Potter) and Alvin Sargeant, who scripted Spider-man 2. If that doesn't explain things...

I actually liked ASM2 in spite of most of it being bad. I don't even know why since I didn't really like the first one much at all.

Pretty much exactly what happened. I've still seen some negativity about it, but it just shows you how hypocritical people can be about the dumbest of shit.

Well, I think what people most didn't want in a reboot was doing the origin story again: which ASM1 did and Marvel isn't doing.

Mentioned earlier and will say again, it's disappointing there will never be a director's cut of ASM. Characterization of Curt Conners and relationship with Peter alone is worlds better.

Well the crown goes to Superman's cry of anguish holding Lois's body, then flying straight up. Chills everytime.

No doubt, I think that scene works not so much because of the scream, but because of the moment just before, where you see him mouthing words but no sound is coming out, completely soundless until a sharp intake of breath. I remember that sticking with me as a kid.

In TDK, Rachel's realization they've saved Harvey instead of her, and her trying to reassure Harvey everything will be alright while actually trying to convince herself before being cutoff mid-sentence might take the cake for me. It was too unexpectedly real. People complained about Maggie replacing Katie Holmes, but she was great in that scene.

So can Sony now do whatever the fuck they want with this Spidey, or do all upcoming solo movies have to be checked and given a go by Marvel, in terms of continuity, story beats, characters and general quality?

Honestly, this scene gave me more feels than the Steve/Peggy scene in Winter Soldier

Lol I distinctly remember when that line hit and the screen went black, like 30+ women in the audience went AWWWW in perfect harmony

I am really glad they included that part in the film proper and didn't put it after the credits as originally planned
