I'll say this, the original origin story for Venom in the comics is just about the dumbest goddamn thing. Not only do readers not know who the fuck Eddie Brock is at this point, but his motivation for hating Spider-Man makes zero sense. It was his own damn fault!
Spectacular Spider-Man fixed this by 1) making Eddie Brock an actual supporting cast member/friend of Peter Parker and 2) giving him a believable motivation for him to hate him

As much as I dislike SM3, it treated Venom with the respect he deserves.

I wouldn't go that far, but he does take a writer that gives a shit. And I think Agent Venom was a long time coming.
Now Carnage? Should have been a one shot

I like Venom. At least the look and idea of Venom. I'm not saying he's ever been handled exceptionally well, but there's always a chance someone could do it. I'm not against him being in the films but he needs to be executed a lot differently than what Raimi did, though I don't blame it on Raimi as he doesn't like Venom either and didn't want to bring him in to begin with.
People complain about ASM2 being a "corporate" movie, but most movies are, even better ones, and Spider-man 3 actually suffered for it too. It was going to be a much different film and wasn't going to have Venom, but Sony forced Raimi into a lot of the decisions.
uh War Machine and Black Panther hello? it's probably the most diverse super hero movie of all time

I saw the Venom thing (at least in Peter Parker's case) as a drug. It gets you high and makes you feel great, but it'll fuck you up in the long term and get you to do terrible things to support the habit.

Nah, they were bad from conception to execution. Give me rain drops keep falling on my head tongue in cheek Raimi, not push hair over eyes because I'm moody, whipping coat off causing a gust of wind to blow Bryce Dallas Howard's hair tongue in cheek Raimi. It was just bad humor.

oh I know, Avi Arad pretty much shoved Venom down Raimi's throat. I'm sure Raimi would have even rather left Venom as a tease for a 4th movie but they just wouldn't let him.

Avi Arad is like this parasite that is fucking things up and you don't even realize it until it's too late. I don't like Spider-man 3 at all, but Sam Raimi is the last person I blame for that. His directing was still good and the movie had energy. I just happened to dislike everything it was actually comprised of, content-wise.

While not technically superhero, I'm pretty sure Suicide Squad will be one of the most diverse comic book movies to come. Six lead POC (potentially seven if the rumors Common plays the villain is true) and three lead females.
Ask avi arad. In fect why fucking venom of all the antagonist Spider-Man has? Why a fucking x-treme two-bit too cool for school angsty as a linkin park song character?

This. If you want to do Venom right, take a page out of Spectacular Spider-Man's book & introduce Eddie Brock early on as bros. Then slowly send his relationship with Peter south-bound afterwards, giving him a believable transition to Venom.

Have Eddie in the first Spider-Man movie as a secondary character, just as his normal self, and slowly build up antagonism between he and Peter so if they ever attempt Venom, it at least has some emotional impact.

I really liked Mr.Negative for picking up the vital Kingpin role for a street level superhero. He's got a dope look, he's got top tier henchmen, and even had a fun secret identity for a bit of dramatic irony vs Peter Parker.

I remember they did Shocker in the Spider-Man 1 game and for some reason Peter asking him if his name is "the cushion" still sticks with me.
I'm honestly hoping that Spider-Man's solo films serve as the movies' window into the street-level parts of the MCU (parts that are normally covered by the MCU Defenders). I really want to see Spidey deal with the crime organizations of New York (Kingpin if they want to cross the TV stuff with the movies more, Tombstone if they go the Spectacular Spider-Man route, Doc Ock, Hammerhead working for either Kingpin or Tombstone, Silvermane, etc.), as well as villains that make things more personal (Molten Man if Liz Allan was indeed cast recently).
Spectacular was great on so many levels.
Not only the best Marvel cartoon, but it made Venom good lol.
