This from ASM2 is cool. Perfect suit and stance.

Too bad this movie is irredeemable dreck.

Amazing Spider-man 2 is what corporate accounting looks like in cinematic form. Just every single aspect of it screams creative confusion and committee compromise. Nobody involved afterwards seemed to know what has happening with the movie, and that's readily apparent when you're watching it. At least the first movie was just boring as hell. ASM2 was boring and stupid and incredibly sloppy.

Like at least Spider-Man 3 was brightly entertaining, Jesus.

Yeah I vastly prefer spiderman 3 over that shit. But like I said before, the spiderman and bullied kid scene is legitimately fantastic.

Oh and the scene where he goes to the convenience store.

Pretty much. It felt like there was a new director every 15 minutes

I liked Garfield's Spider-Man but I could not stand his PP. There was just something about him. Like he seemed smug and weird more than nerdy.

I'll take the sloppy aspects of ASM2 over anything in SM3 :p I liked Peter and Gwen. In SM3 I couldn't fucking stand any of them. If SM3 is brightly entertaining it's because after a while you just say fuck it because everything about it was fucked up and Franco caused a lot of internet memes.

I actually liked those Spider Man movies funny enough, but not as much as the 1st 2 Raimi ones.

Everyone will always have different reasons for hating Spider-man 3 or finding it to be entertaining. I just thought it was a disappointing fucktard of a movie that failed to keep what great momentum its predecessors had going. ASM2 had some sloppy writing but pretty good directing, performances and a mostly awesome climax. That's already more than I can say about SM3, but to each their own.

Also while some of it is sloppy, it does have an easy to follow and clear-cut story. So it's not like the narrative is some jumbled mess, it's perfectly easy to follow, but some things could have been done better. Harry and Electro were great buddy villains. The Parker parents subplot for example could have been worked in better or kept for the next movie. But still not anything as offensively moronic as most of SM3, which more or less just pissed me off more than being a point of criticism.

Really? I'm surprised. I didn't like what they did with the Rhino in that movie.

I mean, the Rhino is a stupid character, there's no other way around it. At least they didn't try to take him seriously. I actually really like the bit with the Rhino and the Kid at the end of the movie, I just wish it wasn't shown in the trailers

I'll take Andrew and Emma's chemistry in ASM2 over whatever Toby and Kirsten had in all three Raimi movies.

Hell by this virtue alone it's an easier movie to stomach than SM3. I guess I'll take some sloppy writing over scenarios that I straight up hate, like every single scenario in SM3 especially everything with MJ which was just insufferable. Nothing in ASM2 bothers me that bad.

Really? I'm surprised. I didn't like what they did with the Rhino in that movie.

Rhino was fine. He was barely in the movie and mostly served as a bookend threat. What mainly happened was some goofy behind the scenes pics of Giamatti that the internet laughed at a lot and couldn't shake so they just rolled with it, when it wasn't even that bad. Goofy yes, but par for the course.

Sucks at poetry
It makes sense that they went with a young actor if you consider the fact that Marvel and Co will likely want him around for several movies over the next 10 years. Also, the fact that we are getting a suited up Spider-Man now means we won't have to suffer through another origin film. Good things all around really.

Andrew and Emma had excellent chemistry. Maybe it helped that they were dating at the time.

Toby and Kirsten had zero chemistry, hell Franco and Toby had better chemistry.

I don't think I have cringed that hard in a theater as I did during that whole moment.

It wouldn't have been that bad if it was just contained to that sequence but it dragged on to a damn near full musical dance routine later on. That whole section of the movie was like something out of a bad Bollywood movie.

People post gifs like these of SM3 and are like "oh look at that it's so bad it's good moment!" when the movie is filled to the brim with that garbage and it's just Spider Man fans coping over a movie so bad that it killed off the Raimi trilogy.

My only real complaint about AMAZE2 is the use of Green Goblin again.

They should have gone with another villain.

Although DeHaan was a cool Harry.

The execution was a much bigger problem than the choice of villain. However it was not my first choice, either.

My idea for ASM2 was Mysterio. It's a villain we hadn't had yet in film, and allowed limitless possibilities. Studios always want "bigger, better, more" for the sequel. With Mysterio, you could do anything. You want Spider-man to fight a T-rex? Spider-man fights a T-rex! There's so much you can do with the illusion angle. Maybe Chameleon as a side-villain working with mysterio since visual trickery is sort of their theme.

Then I wanted them to come back around to the Goblin for the third film. Finish off the trilogy with the mastermind behind all this shit. The goblin would be Norman, not Harry. Design would be more classic inspired and more restrained, dull green skin discoloration, tattered coat and a glider. He would not die at the end. Also wanted them to save Gwen's death till this third movie.

Then if the series was still kicking, Venom in the 4th movie based more closely on the Ultimate version. Mary Jane, too. Maybe tie the Jackal into (Ultimate) Venom's origins somehow.

ya know I don't think Andrew and Emma had THAT great of chemistry, this scene was fucking terrible:

That scene was great. It was intentionally awkward because that's what it's like for some people in high school. Felt genuine.

I liked that scene. It felt genuine.

I've done that.

We got a Spider Man 3 apologist here folks.

I feel like I can back away from this without coming across as completely insane, and I know when to close the book. Sometimes.

Though some people will probably still think I'm insane. But that's okay-- at least it's not because I'm defending Spider-man 3. And I'm not saying the movie I'm defending is perfect, it by no means is, I just find it dramatically less problematic.

Nothing is wrong with any of those actors (except for dehaan, don't like that kid much). It's all the scripts fault

Her and sheen could have done a great job in the Raimi ones.

I remember seeing interviews from Jamie Foxx and he was pushing DeHaan HARD as the next big thing, and I had no idea what he saw in that dude
