Man we've had some real interesting meltdowns in this thread. All because protesters successfully shut down one Trump hate-rally.

Some people REALLY don't like it when minority+ally protesters win...

Yep. Now they can go back to their little hate-holes and complain there, like the fools they are.

Black, white, Latino, Asian, Inuit, Native American and Omnicron Persei Eightians all came together in a glorious day for all mankind. It's rare we see a frontrunner get exposed so hard. Even his supporters have got to be seeing this as a sign of weakness. Which for Trump, was his entire thing, right? He was the big tough guy that was going to put ISIS, Russia and illegal immigrants in their places?

Congrats, you got out-toughed by a group of people who made safe spaces a thing. There's your candidate, GOP. Enjoy being seen as weaker than a 900 year old dude from Vermont.

Amazing to see people in this thread all for a one good punch the air moment without even realising Trump just sowed up the nomination. This stuff will get Republicans behind him as he vilifies the Left as increasingly censurist.

But of you think the protest was self defeating it seems you have something against Black people per this thread? Trust me this was just a student protest just as white british students protested at Nick Cleggs home or attack Nigel Farage in a restaurant lost their arguments - this protest ended up targeting people attending a rally, attacking party members.

Even if you think their racists; this doesn't change a single mind and it doesn't make them go away. But hey, got one over on Trump right?

Again the Left needs to fucking wake up to the fact their going into this election (whoever wins) with a fundamentally flawed candidate VS a sentiment and change they don't understand.

Its not enitely the students fault so many of them turned up, but its still going to have a boost for Trump.

"I don't know how much you know of American politics (I'm an expert) but the left just shot themselves in the foot."

- some British guy.

He sowed up the nomination the moment he dominated all those Southern states that were tailor-made for Cruz. At this point, every new gambit he pulls to boost his primary chances is self-defeating because he doesn't need to pander to the primary crowd anymore.

Instead, he's just ensuring the minority vote that already obviated his general election victory will vote in droves and utterly crush him in November.

There's no general election upside to what Trump is doing.

If Trump had turned out this probably would have worked. The protest would have targeted him instead it was just generally at his supporters for turning up and sitting in a hall. Have to wonder if it was calculated seems things went to shit went the planned protest realised he wasn't coming and decided no more waiting.

Trump and his cronies can claim victory all they want. In the real world, he got arm-twisted into canceling his rally by an overwhelming amount of minorities, the people he trashes, makes fun of, and disrespects on a daily basis.

That he has secured the nomination is obvious, the GOP as a party is in complete shambles and the inmates are running the asylum. Nobody cares about that sham of a primary anymore. But this protest goes beyond the primaries. It shows Trump's shitty rhetoric has finally pissed off the wrong people, it shows his actions have consequences, it shows publicly for all to see the degree of animosity his candidacy has festered, and it shows that he cannot control neither his supporters nor those who oppose him. The emperor has been revealed to have no clothes.

Honestly, this is the best thing to happen. A complete show of force by a magnitude of people. They can't just pin it on BLM, but its thousands that forcefully removed him from every aspect. It shows a certain unity that has been missing about protests, specifically against him. This is the worst possible outcome from Trump. Force was shown and he backed down.

This is how I feel. I'm looking at it from an outside perspective, but it doesn't even seem fathomable to me that he goes further than getting the Republican nod. There's far too many minorities and non-idiot white people in the States to ever let this guy near the oval office.

Dude runs on a platform that he won't back down, but he backs down. Sure his racist base will stick with him, but it draws blood

Those kind of people must live such a sheltered life that they have no idea what protesting looks like. Or even what's the point of protests.

What happened in Chicago is completely against the american values. People has all the right of dislike or even hate Trump and protest against him, but peacefully.

Thousands of people came to the rally to hear Donald Trump and they were prevented by a minority of violent protesters that think that suppress free speech is something to be proud of.

Speaking about politics, I think Trump will gain more support from republican voters after this event and the general election will be very ugly.

Nah that shit was American as it gets. Folks were fed up and decided to show it.

The protesters right to free speech is just as important. Also, you are making it out like it was a riot when the protests were pretty peaceful, don't really know what you are talking about.

It feeds into the conservative victim and persecution complex. They think they're under attack by liberals and minorities, they see Trump under attack by liberals and minorities, therefore they're more likely to identify him as one of them.

If you read the comments on various Trump friendly sites, they are furious and energized by this, and even Trump skeptical conservatives are complaining about his "free speech" being shut down by the politically correct left.

This will help him in the primaries, but it will definitely hurt him in the general election.

I feel like people skip over this so much.

A hand full of small outbreaks of fighting amoungst a metric shit ton of protesters, and now suddenly every single protester is inciting violence somehow. The filthy animals.

And you even bring up the shit "but first amendment" argument spilling amount the most racist parts of Twitter and Facebook... Wow.

I expected better from you, allan.

The worst thing for Trump in the general is an energized left. If he kept his mouth shut maybe he would have malaised himself into the whitehouse due to people not being in love with Hillary or Bernie. Now people are scared and angry and are actively saying that they will vote just so that Trump doesn't get to the Whitehouse. As others have said this isn't good for him at all.

Pretty peaceful? That's not what I saw in several images on TV. If was peaceful Trump would make his rally, people would be protesting and everything would be fine.

To have that many people in one place confronting a hatemonger and his followers only result in a couple of fistfights? That's pretty peaceful.

also lol at the supreme (and common) misunderstanding of the first amendment. It says the government can't censor free speech, not citizens. If a lot of citizens don't like what another group is doing, they have every right to protest and counter it.

If only those worried about proper politics would speak up when people are being attacked/assaulted at every Trump rally by his supporters..must have missed those pictures/videos. 😕

Going to quote someone from earlier.

tjefferson-233x300.gif

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure."

- Thomas Jefferson, Letter to William Stephens Smith (13 November 1787)

Yes, protesting is so unamerican.

So talking about first amendment is a code for racism in your book? I'm not racist, in fact I think racism is stupid because we are all the same thing, humans.

That said what happened last night was not good because a rally was shut down.

A rally was postponed, and I didn't call you a racist, just that you are making the same phoney argument they currently are making.

You should only talk about the first amendment if you actually understand it. Same goes for protesting. You fell short on both counts.

Just Now..

So much truth in this. Instead of reigning in that tea party and birther bullshit, they as a party supported it, gave it a platform, entertained it, and saw fit to try purge any elements within the party didn't go along with it. Now the monster has eaten well, grown stronger than the establishment, and it's completely out of their control. They need to clean up their mess.

Free speech was somehow violated huh? So you see nothing wrong with what Trump is doing? People should be able to spread as much hate speech as they like since its "free speech"? If anything, the rally being shut down is a victory for Trump. He will use this as ammunition to motivate his followers.
