Do you not want to see a brokered convention?

I'm all for doing what ever it takes to inflict the maximum amount of damage on the Republican Party but Kasich needs to win Ohio to do that.

I think a brokered convention will just mean Trump wins anyway. But it would be entertaining to see.

Trump winning or losing the presidency will shatter the GOP so I'm good either way.

Pleasantly surprised that my polling location in Ohio wasn't crowded. About 15 minutes in total.

You have to admit though that a brokered convention where Trump wins the nomination anyway would be fucking amazing to watch.

I'm so excited!

Not because I expect there's anything to be learned from tonight, but because tonight should signal the end of everyone pretending Trump vs Clinton isn't already the decided ballot.

I echo the sentiment that this isn't the right place or time to do that. If Trump takes Ohio today, the primary is essentially over and he will have an extra couple of months to consolidate the party behind him and plow toward the general election. He will never be favored to beat Hillary, but that scenario improves his chances.

This, plus troll voting for Trump clearly disadvantages Hillary, which either leaves her more bruised for the general or -- somehow -- gets Bernie the nomination, who then has to face a national test that he's never dealt with before.

Tactical voting only works as long as the tactics aren't actually undermining your preferred candidate in the process.

City voting seems to be light today, which doesn't seem to bode well for Sanders if he's looking for higher turnouts. Rural polling places, at least I have heard, were packed this morning. Republicans out to stump for Drumpf.

Repugnant behavior.

Very much so. It devalues the vote when people do things like this. Do the research, construct a strong view of the candidates, pick the one you like the most, and vote for them until they aren't available anymore. When that happens move to the next down the list. This is how a representative republic is supposed to work. Trying to sabotage other candidates weakens the integrity of the process.

The simple fix is to only allow registered Republicans to vote in a Republican primary.

Same for the Democrats.

All that money wasted by the establishment to keep these losers around for a half a year in the hopes of a brokered convention only for the convention to pick Trump anyway.

Hmm-mmm

Not really, he'd just give the VP seat to Cruz to pick up his delegates and they'll win on the second vote.

We aren't getting a true brokered convention for exactly that reason. Cruz is despised by the rest of the GOP. The fact that he is the only one bringing in substantial delegates to the convention besides Trump puts all the power with him and Trump. Cruz' people actually know how the political game works and that is of real value to Trump.

So instead of all the gridlock and drama people are wishing and praying for what you would really get is a unified and focused Trump/Cruz ticket that would cement the base behind them and allow Trump to go after middle America by simply fostering the seeds of anti-globalization/NAFTA/etc. already planted in many swing states by Sanders.

I would expect a Clinton/anyone ticket to win against Trump/Cruz, but it would be far closer than some of these open primary saboteurs think.

we have no guarantee who they will pick, or even have a new name drop

Are Bernie fans running to the polls?
Are Hilary fans walking to the polls in hopes that in route to the polls they remember they have this thing they have to go to and can't make it to the polls?

Cruz: You drop out
Kasich: No..YOU drop out.

I think they should just all stay in, no matter what happens, just to continue to take delegates away from Trump.

Then at the convention give it to Cruz.

Then in the GE Clinton or Bernie wins easily. That is what I hope happens.

Um... you do know Missouri is winner-take-all on the Republican side, right (per district and state wide)? Kasich was polling dead last at 8% in the only poll this month.

I guess Kasich might have a chance if you live in a metro area at winning a congressional district (maybe?), but I doubt it.

Split by congressional district, if no majority vote (plus 12 for winner).

Regardless, I just voted for who I thought was the best (or least worst). I am okay with either Dem nominee, so I feel like my vote really would have been wasted there, when I could have some impact on the other nominee, even if it is small. At the very least, votes for Kasich and Rubio (who only polled 1 percent higher) help prevent a full majority for one of the other two, giving them a winner take all.

I think Rubio voters would just jump to the Kasich bandwagon.

But yeah, they should both probbaly stay. Cruz/Kasich.

Cruz: You drop out
Kasich: No..YOU drop out.

Part of me wants Kasich to stay in the race until the General Election. Same with Cruz and Rubio just to splinter the party even more and push it closer to the point of collapse. The other part wants me to see Kasich fall flat on his face in Ohio today and be forced out of the race because its Kasich.

then the realization hits that Cruz is actually much worse then Trump, just was more quite

Rubio needs to drop out after Florida, that was all he could hope to contribute and he likely will lose. Cruz and Kasich might be able to siphon enough votes for a brokered convention, but honestly does it even matter?

The whole thing comes down to progressive and reasonable people needing to show the fuck up at the polls in November

Next week Arizona is winner take all and Trump will win that one for sure. I bet white voters there a fabulous wall there more than any other place!

Some of the bigger states like New York, Pennsylvania and California are not winner take all, but Cruz probbaly has zero chance there. Kasich wold have to perform well.

Even if Trump did win, the electoral college would be there to stop him. Yeah there would be riots, but what good is the system if you can't use it to stop lunatics. This is exactly why this shit is in place.

And you think Trump can win most of those? I don't know about that. Florida, but he has hotels there. Just like how he won Nevada.

Candidates staying in helps Trump. He loses one on ones with Cruz. If Kasich takes Ohio and stays in, he keeps doing what he's been doing. Splitting the not-Trump vote and letting Trump amass delegates.

Basically, the only path I see at this point for a Trump loss is this. Rubio drops out after Florida, Kasich wins Ohio, but drops out anyway, since he'll likely be mathematically eliminated tonight. It becomes Cruz v. Trump and voters begrudgingly go for Cruz. It stays a close race, and either one of them wins outright, just barely, or they both go to the convention with ~45% of the delegates each.

Either way, the GOP is stuck with Trump or Cruz.

The dream scenario is still Trump has most delegates going into the convention but doesn't get the nomination, rendering the republican primary useless, then runs as a third party

Voted for Bernie today in IL!

Polling place probably had around 20 people and it took as much time to finish voting from walking in to walking out. Not too bad.
