This made my brain itch.

Iron Man 3 is super disappointing, and I'm saying this as someone who has warmed a bit to it over time.

And none of my beef even has to do with the Mandarin stuff.

I'd rather watch SM3 over IM3.

Sorry the "Spiderman 3 was only bad because of Venom, Raimi was in on it the whole time!" Narrative doesn't play with me. He still would have retconned Sandman as Uncle B's killer... And actually made him the primary villain. Yikes.

The only things I liked about 3 were the Mandarin reveal and Tony infiltrating the base without his suit. Movie wasn't very good.

At least however, I remember the general story beats, I don;t remember anything about Thor 2 at all.

no one is arguing that Venom is the only bad thing about spider-man 3

When you really think about it, Venom was actually the only good part of the movie.

Green Lantern is better than Spider Man 3 but worse than Thor 2.
Green Lantern is maybe better than Ghost Rider or the FF movies, but it sure as hell isn't better than SM3. SM3 atleast seemed like people gave a shit when making it. Green Lantern is this aggressively mediocre shitstain.

if you don't like quips it might be time to bow out of the MCU, Spidey's about to put all the previous movies to shame

If only Deadpool was in the MCU, he would make Spidey look like a joke in terms of trash talking. There's a reason why he's considered the motormouth merc.

Too bad Fox has him on tight ropes especially since his movie banked in lots of money.

Fantastic Four 2005 is all right. Now imagine somebody with that opinion saying Fantastic Four Silver Surfer is extraordinarily bad. It's in the nebulous Jonah Hex, Catwoman, Elektra area of rankings.

I thought it was the merc with a mouth

Thor: The Dark World is just north of Catwoman/Ghost Rider/ Daredevil tier. It's the by-far the worst Marvel film.
Aw Hell No.

Spider-man 3 is better than Thor: The Dark World

Just no. I remember the credits coming up after S3 ended and a little kid sitting next to me turned to his friend and said "That was awesome!" and I involuntarily stared at the kid with a disgusted face and thought about how I hadn't been so disappointed with a superhero movie since Batman & Robin (It is better than that though). I didn't even get that little post movie high that made me ok with Phantom Menace for a day or two. Conversely I came out of T:TDW entertained and my girlfriend and I decided to go see it again with a another friend and still enjoyed it. So ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't get why people think IM3 is bad, I didn't like it but it was at least decent. I just wanted a proper version of the Mandarin.

I like it, but I thought Killian was a crappy villain to fall back on. I'm fine with the Mandarin twist, but the movie needed either the actual Mandarin (no, not Killian even if he says he is) or someone better to carry the final act.

I know some people don't like that Tony is out of the suit for so much of the movie, but I love that about it.

I love the movie. I loved The Mandarin. I loved everything about the movie. Such a fun ride. The third act set piece is a bit tiresome (like in all Marvel movies) but apart from that I thought it was well paced, fun and energetic in a way comic book movies rarely are (the only other I can think of is X-Men First Class). I don't get the hate at all.

It's like the 4th or 5th best mcu film

Certainly the wittiest and legit funniest one. Shane Black is the writer whedon thinks he is imo. Now that dude gets quips

Watch the nice guys end up being best movie of the summer

It's both a sanitized Shane Black action comedy for little kids, and a bad Iron Man story.

People don't like the twist either, but it would have been fine if the reveal was actually something more interesting. Instead we got Guy Pearce with a dragon tattoo getting killed by Pepper because Tony is useless.

Is it weird that the thing that bugs me the most about SM3 is its atrocious score? I marathoned all three a few years ago and the move from Elfman to whoever they replaced him with was jarring as fuck.

There's a few other things I hate about SM3 such as the uncle Ben retcon, Topher Grace, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Goblin II's design but for some reason, that score especially drives me crazy.

IM3 was my favorite Iron Man until the last 10 minutes or so. The way Pepper saves the day beating both a remote Iron Man suit AND Killian in <1 minute just screamed cheap way out to me. Makes me mad just thinking about it as that was such a fun movie to watch until that point.

The twist in Iron Man 3 sucks because it both cheats us out of the Mandarin and instead gives us a crappy knockoff of Syndrome from The Incredibles as the villain.

agreed 100% the idea is that the black suit magnifies the darker qualities of the host. Peter Parker is a huge dork so it makes total sense.

I even kind of like what they did with the black suit, sure it looked just like a black version of the regular suit at first, but as he got worse and worse the spider emblem actually got larger and more white, more pronounced. By the time the suit attached to Eddie and became venom, the emblem was the Venom emblem that we're used to, I even kind of like that venom retained the fucked up looking web lines on the suit

there's some good shit in spidey 3 it just didn't come together

Yeah, the whole point isn't that it somehow makes him cool. That Raimi Peter wouldn't become cool, he'd be an overly confident, cocky tool as opposed to an insecure, self-conscious dork when they amplified his aggression, confidence, and more self-serving parts of his personality.

Not bad. I just wanted it to adhere closer to the original Extremis story. Instead they appropriated a bunch from that comic and diluted it with other junk.

Iron Man 3 was pretty good, I don't get the hate either. I even liked it more than Iron Man 2 though it doesn't touch Iron Man 1.

The black suit should have different effects on the different sides of Peter Parker. When he has the black suit and he's just being Peter, he should be an entitled tool (I kind of feel like Spidey 3 got this right). When he's black suit Spider-Man he should be an angrier Spidey instead of quippy.

Potentially controversial opinion time with Spider-Man 3. Sony got a lot of flack for trying to shoehorn Venom into the movie but in my opinion most of the movie's problems are based on the Raimi parts of the story. MJ is basically the 4th supervillain of the movie due to her unyielding bitchiness. Sandman in general sucks in this movie (and in my opinion he's a C-list Spidey villain who shouldn't have sniffed being in a movie). Harry Osborne ceases to act like a logically thinking human being. Venom ended up being one of the few decently entertaining parts of the movie.

The venom transformation scene is still pretty amazing in just how macabre it is. It feels very Raimi.

I remember before the film came out and they were doing the rounds promoting the film at conventions and whatnot, they debuted the venom scene I think at Wondercon which I happened to attend that year. And though we all know now how SM3 turned out and how people now think of Venom's inclusion in the film, people were very much hyped for Venom at the time.

This should have been the final scene of the movie.
