I just finished watching seasons 1-3. What a funny show, shame I missed it in its prime. Oh well. Season 1 and 2 were the best, by far. Season 3 felt like they ran out of funny stuff near the end, but it was still good. Why did it get canceled tho. Buster was the best, everyone knows that. Is season 4 worth watching even though it's like 10 years later? I will if you guys think it's worth it. I wish Gene Parmesean had more screen time. And Gob, too. Also, sorry if this is rambly I'm a little drunk.

3 got a bit weird because they cut the season order down mid-stream and they had to cram a bunch of stuff in so that it could have a semblance of an ending. That said it has perhaps my favorite joke of the series: "On the next Arrested Development..." -- "IT'S MY ILLUSION"

4 is different. Not as good as 1-3. Much, MUCH darker. It has some great moments but is hurt massively by having relatively few opportunities to have the cast together.

I actually just got done watching season 4 after putting if off for a while since reception seemed a bit mix. I really liked it. The new format started out kind of rocky (though I'm sure on a repeat viewing I won't mind as much) but seeing everyone doing their own thing gives a lot of insight into the characters.

Season 3 got a bit off the trail, but other than that it's one of the best TV comedies ever. Season 4 I also really enjoyed.

One of the greatest shows ever. Give S4 a go but fast forward through the Georgr Senior episodes. They're painful. The latter part of the season is great.

Why did it get canceled tho.
Because people didn't watch it and don't realize greatness until it's gone.

Arrested Development is one of my favorite shows ever. Rarely has a show made me laugh as consistently as that did.

Top tier television. Rewards multiple viewings with wonderful references and long running jokes.

There's always money in the banana stand!

Pop-pop gets a treat?

I'd recommend rewatching Seasons 1-3.
You'll catch twice the amount of jokes as you did the first time.

It's truly a work of art.

Season 4 is my favorite, BUT BE WARNED, it is a slow slow burn and it reveals its plot bit by bit, but the payoff is worth it. It is also much better when you watch it a second time, because you can appreciate the hints and twists it gives the viewer.

I'll second the recommendation on rewatching. I don't know how, but it seems to get funnier every time you watch. I've probably watched the whole series 4 or 5 times. Never gets old.

Yep! It's a show that's insanely rewatchable. Skip season 4 for now, it's just such a massive downgrade. It's decent and by the end of it, wraps up nicely but it just doesn't feel as satisfying overall because it's a drastic change of pace and direction.

You'll continually find new things in every rewatch as well. I've watched it at least over 15 times now and I'll spot something I've never noticed before. Loads of foreshadowing in earlier episodes that you wouldn't have expected them to plant so far back and it's so good how they do it.

Season 4 is good > great, but it definitely requires at least a second watch to thoroughly appreciate it. OS George Michael is awesome. I'm sure it'd be just as awesome as the previous seasons if they didn't have to worry about working around everyone's schedule, but they did what they could.

Weren't they supposed to do a recut of season 4?

shit that's mine too

I think I said it before here too

Binge watched it for the first time not too long ago on Netflix. Season 1 and 2 are fantastic, 3 is just OK.

4 is kinda boring in the beginning but gets much better once it all comes together later in the season. Wasn't a big fan of the the season's ending though, the entire season felt like it was building up to something, only to find there wasn't much of a climax.

I dunno why, but my most LOL moment was Gob's date with Lucille 2 where he read the menu to her. CLUB SAUUUUCCEEE

Loved the original 3 seasons, and the 4th one had a cool way to focus on each character (due to the cast's scheduling conficts, mostly)

My fave moments are the Gene Parmesan reveals and Lucille's reactions: "AHHHH I KNEW ITTTT!!!". Also Kitty and her affiction to Spring Break: "SPRING BREAK, WOOOOO!"

Just reached 1-3 for the first time in ages, and started 4 for the first time.

1-3 are still hilarious, probably more so than previous watchings. The jokes just run so deep, it's fantastic.

So many great moments, but the S2 foreshadowing about Buster's hand is incredible.

Funnily enough I'm rewatching them at the moment too. I'm about six episodes into season 3 so far. I love rewarding repeat views are, as there are so many little jokes you won't have picked up on before, and some really clever subtle hints towards future plot threads.

Loads of little lines and gags I love.

"You could sink your Cupid's arrow into my buttocks any time"
"Bees? Beads?!"
"So many poorly chosen words in that sentence"
"Monster! ...Bonster!"

And so on. On my mobile right now so can't really look up the best ones.

I had a really hard time with the first episodes of season 4. Felt like some other show altogether. It did get better though and on repeat viewings it's pretty good.

Seasons 1-3 though, perfection.

It's a good thing you didn't watch it in it's prime, because you would have been sorely disappointed in its cancellation. I can't even remember if I finished watching season 3. It was a mess the way Fox handled it.

The Gob episodes in season 4 are some of the best episodes the show ever did. It's a slow burn of a season, but once you get into the back half it is sensational.

Season 4 is terrible, I can't recommend it.

I remember when the show won the Emmy for best comedy, during the acceptance speech he just said "Thanks, now will people just start watching it."

Spoiler: they didn't. It was canceled. Sad times ensued.

Season 1-3 was really good but Season 4 was total disappointment for me. I only watched first two episodes in S4 and, done.

I'm in the middle of a rewatch myself. I'm currently on season three, and even though it's a rewatch, I'm still finding new things and I'm still laughing at pretty much all the jokes.

I actually remember liking 4 the best but its been awhile. definitely took a few episodes before it got good

We have watched 21 episodes of the first season after the ES Netflix added it to the catalogue one or two months ago. I was the only one who had heard about the series. I was going to watch only a few minutes to make some time before going to bed... And the rest is story, my flatmate is hooked to it, although she needs to wait until both have time to sit down and watch a few episodes back to back.

Season 4 requires multiple rewatches, more so than the original series. So much only works when you know how it fits together.

IMO 4 is better than 3. If they would have made the episodes shorter (no more than 25 minutes an episode) it would have been right there with 1 & 2.

1-3 are fucking incredible and easily puts the show as one of my top TV shows ever. 4 is weird but I feel like I didn't really enjoy it on the first watch - however it was much better on a repeat watch because I didn't need to focus on the convoluted narrative and was able to pick up on way more of the running gags - of which there are many, and are funny. Still nowhere near 1-3 tier.

Even though S4 might not hit as hard as S1-3, I find myself saying quotes from 4 all the time. Someone told me the non-chronological order of S4 means you should be able to shuffle the episodes in any order and still enjoy the season. Wish Netflix had a "shuffle" option, so I could try this out.
