The Division - Review Thread

Gaf goin Gaf. You guys crack me the heck up. Almost spat out my morn coffee. I've been gaming for 30, and the division is the pinnacle of what gaming has become, where it has come from. Granted, I'm only level 8, and wish I had more time to play, but this game is insanely good. Breath of fresh air for me. Best game I've played in awhile.

I like that games are getting such braod reviews now. It should always be like films. If you don't like it you don't like it. I would like to see more games get 6-7's as well, and the gaming community get used too it. (not saying I want worsed quality games)

Honestly if a review mentions bullet sponges I just ignore it, seems some people can't accept the fact that the game is an RPG.

Bullet sponges have no relation to being an RPG. I'm not sure how you made that connection. It could continue to be a good rpg AND have balance and make sense in the context of its own world. It doesn't, and this is just one of the decicions they went with. It's fine, but it feels out of place

But IGN gave it a 6..
How can you enjoy the game?

LiveALive is the pinnacle of gaming yet to be crossed, imo.

What Division do better than Destiny at launch?

Lol what??? It actually has a rewarding mission based system at end game right now. You actually get rewarded in division for doing a challenge mode mission with a high end item at the end and when you kill the boss (if you get lucky) .... unlike destiny where I have to wait one week for a silly nightfall to get a Damn 290 ghost lol.

Even if you get crap drops during that challenge mission it breaks down into gear you will use to make more high end gear. Plus the PC that again goes to getting more high end gear.

That ign score is lol, especially when you see the score Destiny got. It's mean spirited. Games very fun, I recommend it. It's repetitive but the set pieces are awesome and core mechanics sound.

Oh yeah you should check out that Evolve review...a fucking 9?

IGN is a joke with reviews.

Do you know the kind of review editor Vince Ingenito is?

He would not review that game just to be mean spirited to poor ol' Ubi with all their millions, it's just his honest opinion of the game.

Key word: opinion.

Interesting reviews to say the least, bit surprised by the 6's but I can understand it from their perspective. As I near 30 I'd give it a solid 8-8.5 as a game itself but I can't stop playing it, so that makes it a 10 for me, lol.

Well,i'm having a lot of fun with it,even if i'm playing more with the graphics settings than the game itself lol
Complaints about the lack of enemy variery and repetitiveness are understandable, let's hope future expansions can fix this.

The review its self was fine, the score is clearly another example of click bait/how broken review scores are in gaming.
When your the last major outlet review, and your score is just low enough to start a shit show, it does raise questions if you just did to to generate ad sales.

How is it cluck bait? Ign is the biggest game site it didn't need to do a review to get clicks. Bashing a site because you don't like a review is sad. The game has some big flaws.

Yeah IGN score is weird, compare to how they have rated other terrible games. Did they change their policy or something?

What's so wrong with a 6.7-7. Sure the game is fun but a critique is more than just saying something is fun. Street fighter 5 is also fun but devoid of a lot of stuff that would make it a great game. Division is a sly rest starting point but has a lot of mistakes. Even though I enjoyed the time I spent I couldn't give that game an 8 or 9.

Since when does a RPG require enemies to be bullet sponges or any kind damage sponges? I don't know what action RPGs you have been playing.
But with the appropriate gear and a good group these enemies really aren't "bullet sponges". Aim for the head, use your special ammo and your abilities and things are fun to take down. And honestly, until you're well geared in Diablo 3 the elites can take a pretty decent amount of hits before they go down, same as The Division. It isn't until you're geared to high heaven that you could roll through packs, similar to how it starts to get in The Division. We did some hard mode tonight and things just melt as a well geared 30, same as some challenge mode mobs. If you're geared well enough, with geared friends, things get progressively easier... the way it's supposed to be.

i honestly think IGN should of had at least 2 reviewers play together then have separate reviews.
The game is a crap tone better with someone you know and as a solo game i can see how a 6.7 score is fair. I can see how playing this for review probably wasn't a very enjoyable experience.

They changed their policy of having android editors with exactly the same opinions and thoughts in favour of real human beings.

That's why you now see a difference in scores across game reviews.

People bent out of shape for 6.7, an above average score. I wish the score was lower, like I wish the scores were lower for all reviews of this game and all other blockbuster games.

I think if you know ign's history of being extremely bias towards triple AAA games and the fact that this review is last one from major outlets. Yes perhaps it is his honest opinion but their also is the possibility of the score being lowered just for views. Especially with reviews where the earlier ones will get more views, where later ones tend to not.

It also calls into question the review when he gave games like Evolve a 9.

If sites like ign haven't basically chucked out another below a 7 for AAA games, this wouldn't even be a topic.

Nope the guy gave Evolve a 9.

and a mediocre series in WW2K16 a 8.8...when its clearly a 7.

Plus a unfinished Street Fighter 5 game that has been out for a while in japan, with its USA release a 8.0. (The core game is pretty good).
Um to him evolve was a 9. Whats so confusing. Opinions how do they work.

Am i doing something wrong when i play?

So far the only things i find compelling on the main missions. so if im level 12 and the next main mission is min recommended 16, from levels 12-16 im just so fucking bored.

the side missions are okay, the encounters are boring, and walking between them is dull.

Bad opinions and opinions are like buttholes how do they work.

Also reviews and review sites like IGN have weight if you didn't notice and the general public take a lot at face value. So no its not just an opinion.

So if a big, popular game is reviewed well by journalists and players alike, they are all wrong? Please Supreme Leader, give us access to you're infinite knowledge and wisdom.

It's like different people with different opinions review games at ign.

Nah that's too easy.
People have played the game. They know it's quality stuff. This score is not just a score for the game. It's a revenge score towards Ubisoft i think. Politics. It would have gotten a completely different score if the review copies were there a week before release. That's what i firmly believe.

We have an OT for questions like this.

Rofl revenge score lmao. Most games today don't get early copies and many got good scores. I have the game and I think it is mediocre.

So are saying there is a right way or rather a objective way to review games?
Cause that would be dumb.
