As others pointed out, it's more than just the action scenes. Nightcrawler opening sequence in X-2 is one of my favorite comic book movie scenes. However, as a movie I think X-2 is kind of a hot mess.
Winter Soldier was so damn good it made me take another look at two characters that I had been sleeping on for 20+ years.
After watching the trailer again and pausing for some closer looks, I am not really liking the new look for Nightcrawler either...
I love JLaw in general but I can't help but cringe each time Mystique speaks. That Leader pep talk was awful. Apart from her the movie looks fine, I'm not shocked by Sophie Turner, Apoc looks as good as a bald blue giant with thick lips that go across his face can look in real life.
Taking liberties with her character + good only because Xaiver probably takes a huge L and is out for the second act of the film and the X-Men need someone who can do some sort of leading

Certainly more than the chick who's only power in this universe is to turn from Jennifer Lawrence into blue Jennifer Lawrence.
The last movie was not superb. X-2 was the closest these movies ever came to being superb but it's been downhill ever since. Singer needs a time out. He's clearly phoning this shit in at this point.

I'm not convinced that Cyclops can ever be done well in a live action movie and I'm not sure I know why. It's just one of those things? I mean he could be done well, I'm just saying we probably won't ever live to see it lol

I truly did not mind Lawrence as Mystique in First Class. Was she as good as Rebecca Romijn? No but she was not unbearable. DOFP on the other hand looked as if she does not give a fk and this looks to be the same case. Fox should have cast someone else instead of ruining this film because she clearly looks disinterested.

I am glad J-Law found success. I just wish she was playing an actual X-Men in these flicks. They've so obviously been tweaked around her celebrity to the point where the actual X-Men are all secondary, even tertiary, characters. She would have made a decent Jean.
On the other hand, this trailer shows them actually being X-Men for a damn change. We haven't seen that since one scene in X-Men 1 and the end of First Class. Maybe they'll be a team for more than 15 minutes this time around.
