Batman v Superman Spoiler Thread: Don't believe everything you read, Son

The romance between Lois and Clark was so forced that I cringe whenever I recall their kissing scene. The unrequited love aspect has historically been what made that relationship actually interesting, especially considering her obvious warmth towards Clark's alter ego.

That relationship was more unrealistic than alien contact.

What are the differences?
For PROMETHEUS?

Spaihts's draft is good and Lindelof's is bad.

The original draft is directly a prequel and there's no "mystery box" element to it aside from a bit of ambiguity here and there. The characters are better and most of the inconsistencies aren't present in Spaihts's draft. I prefer the ending of his script versus the theatrical cut of PROMETHEUS.

Why don't you say why you don't want to watch the movie?
For ome thing isnt it over 2 hours long? Thats one turn off for me
Secondly having read lots of comics feat supes and bats the movie isnt giving me mch pull or interest to watch it, particularly how they would approach the bat and supes interaction
Which is bizarre for me to admit as i am very looking forward to cap 3

I never read the scripts, I just remember discussions about it here on GAF.

I'm pretty sure Cap 3 is just as long. Like, maybe 5 minutes shorter or something.

Do you mean that you don't believe the setup they have for why Batman would fight Superman? I am honestly confused as to why a comic book fan wouldn't want to watch it, especially if you like DC. All impressions so far say that at the very least, the story and character motives are spot on. batman is believable considering the circumstances

No it means that he will get whooped. He will get what's coming to him for all that destruction and Zod neck snapping.

And no I am not one of those MoS destruction marks. But I always enjoy myself when Superman gets whooped for some reason. It's like when the best sports team gets beat by a lesser team, you just can't help but feel good about it.

DCU Batman is the best sports team, though. He always outsmarts everyone, and wins every fight, and always has the superior morality, and always sleeps with everyone, and gets to be a cool outsider, and gets to be part of the team, and he gets to win while not having any super powers, despite the fact that prep-time is often written as an absurdly implausible super power that probably correlates 1:1 with some Marvel X-Man power.

DCU Batman is a more boring version of the most boring version of Superman. Taking Batman out of Gotham and putting him in the DCU was the worst thing that ever happened to him, because one of the good things about any good version of Batman is that he's just a man who struggles, but that shit ain't going to cut it when Darkseid shows up and you're expected to survive somehow.

Civil War is longer than BvS because when the credits roll in BvS, you can go home, but for MCU stuff you gotta stay for what will probably be a totally pointless teaser scene. :lol

Reminds me, Marvel has fans trained

There were actual boos at the end of the credits when there was no scene in it.

Henry is a fine actor, but I think he would perform better as a more light hearted Superman than a stoic one, based off of Man from Uncle and his interviews. Granted I still haven't seen BvS so I can't judge from that.

It'll be interesting to see what Terrio has in mind for his Justice League, he said it's lighter compared to BvS, and BvS is suppose to be the darkest film in the DCEU.

Real talk, still can't quite believe they're following up Batman v. Superman with fucking Suicide Squad.
It pretty much fills out Batman without him even having his own movie.
as well as giving us Batman villains who couldn't headline a movie.

It gives Harley(one of DC biggest characters) a staring role without playing 2nd string to Joker in a regular Batman movie.

It pads out and sets up a few other villains and heroes like Boomerang and Katana which expands the world a bit.

Finally if speculation/rumours are true it introduces Dick Grayson in a way that really fits this take on the DC Universe.

This is just straight up wrong. Nothing in comics is less interesting or compelling than Lois Lane totally failing to figure out that Clark Kent is Superman and making relationship drama out of it. They work much better as an actual couple, no question.

All they have to do is not have Supes/Lois make out in a giant crater of death with a non-nonsensical, inappropriate line of banter afterwards, and it'll be an improvement over MoS

You do realize Goyer got credited? That means that some of his draft was likely carried over to Terrio's rewrite.
It's very, very likely that Goyer's draft was that infamous Reddit Leak from years ago, it kind of matches in a broad sense with the film, but then it doesn't. Of course it's far more "basic" than the end result.

Script credits are heavily skewed in favor of whoever started a project.

I believe how it works, is whoever writes the first draft gets a credit, and any writers that change at least 33% of the work are also credited.

Goyer gets that credit because he wrote the first draft, but it sounds like Terrior has wildly overhauled the whole thing significantly and Goyer hadn't been involved for awhile by the time they started filming.

In the animated series Batman's "prep time" was garbage. Throw a smoke bomb or some stupid gadget and the villain suddenly becomes braindead.

I remember he threw a batarang at SINESTRO of all people and took him out. What kind of unimaginitive prep is that?

At least in the comics they put some thought into it.

I just realized my pass for the screening tonight says I have "front of line access"

Is that on all of them? I go to quite a few screenings and I've never seen this before.

Wait, so Superman loses to Batman, almost dies, then later really dies?

Great news for Superman fans.

I think dying by sacrificing yourself to save the world... oh that does sound like Christ figure...

but it makes sense... granted wasn't sure why Wonder Woman couldn't have used the spear.

Also, curious what do folks who've seen it think will be in the extended cut? Like I didn't feel like anything was rushed or not properly developed... so thinking may be a completely diff subplot or something

Because they don't want to waste their chance to have Spike-Hulk kill the superbald
(Verendus has ruined my verbatim)

It's on mine, yeah. Probably isn't usually on passes because these are from a special event you previously attended.

Also for all the pre-movie discussion, who the hell was Dan Amboyer?

I don't even remember seeing him in the movie!

So:

1. Fight scenes with the score...on a scale of 1 to 10.
2. Did you cry?
3. Superman theme in full blast or just the piano part?
