This makes no sense. No fucking way.

ROFL

Calling Man of Steel's action one-note disaster porn is absurd, Clark even rescued people, but he wasn't Superman yet in Man of Steel he was in the process of becoming Superman all the while being a lone character facing a global threat. Clark actively limits causalities BY beating the bad guy. Zod himself said he would stop at nothing which lead to the admittedly flimsy conclusion.

Whereas Age of Ultron somehow manages to have an entire scene dedicated to Hulk facing Iron Man with people littered throughout the entire runtime of that scene and somehow there is a not single person injured in this several city block destruction/beatdown and correct me if I'm wrong, most citizens aren't directly attacked by Ultron or his bots so much as they're often treated as being in the wrong place at the right time. This is ignoring these rescues by Captain America and co whom would have ultimately served better actively working to stop the main threat.

Hulk undoubtedly kills some cops. He rips open the top of the car and reaches in just as the camera cuts away. Those guys are deader than dead. They highlight all the destruction and even show injured people after the fight concludes too but no bodies. Then again, you don't see bodies in MoS either, just a lot of strongly implied death.

Damn.

I dunno guys...

It sounds like Age of Ultron is the better movie.

I'm getting a similar impression.

Both may suffer from similar flaws but I think the thing that may have saved AoU in the end was the characters and the fact that the MCU puts a big importance on the story of their heroes, whether you like the direction they go or not. That's the core of all their films so even if you didn't care for an Iron Man sequel or a Thor sequel or an Avengers sequel, you are invested in these characters from the films you did enjoy and look forward to see where they go next.

BvS didn't have an uphill battle just because people thought MoS was a bad film, it was an uphill battle because people didn't think Snyder's Superman was a good character and he is supposed to be the emotional core of this film.

No, they just wrote/are writing a treatment. Seth Grahame-Smith, of Dark Shadows and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter fame, is writing and directing the Flash.

I'm amazed at WB's choices for screenwriters on these upcoming DC films.

Take the upcoming Wonder Woman film, for example. Jason Fuchs is writing the screenplay. He wrote Pan (RT rating: 27%) and Ice Age: Continent Drift (RT rating: 37%).

Was he literally the only guy available for the job? Same goes for Aquaman. You've got Aquaman being written by the guys who wrote Red Riding Hood and Wrath of the Titans.

I feel like Warner Bros is attaching a lot of mediocre writers to these films.

I've seen the opposite argued about that Hulk scene. "He just scared them" was one of my favorite comments. It's amazing the leaps people take.

I didn't really care about the twist one way or the other, because face a villain named after a fruit is never going to work out, but I just didn't find iron man 3 all that enjoyable.

I'm pretty sure the film doesn't pretend that no one was hurt or killed by the hulk in that sequence. It's kind of why the final act emphasizes reducing civilian casualties. And it would be completely against Cap's character to not save people even if it meant ultimately losing to the bad guys.

I thought the twist was fun.

The Mandarin is a problematic character for the modern era anyway. He's a racial charicature.

Please stop repeating this lame nonsense. The Mandarin hasn't been that blatant stereotype for decades. His more recent incarnations would have been totally fine for the movie.

But yeah, the twist was fun it's just that the movie didn't have a good enough "real" villain to make it worth it for the final act.

Snyder gonna Snyder.

Good thing he's not directing the Justice League movies....

oh.

But hey, at least ya get your ball numbing action, cuz that's all ya need!

I thought the villain was pretty good by MCU standards in IM3. I know, I know, low bar. :P

You betted correctly. I doubt this will be near 800 mil. Word of mouth will kill it.

nah. even amazing spiderman 2 made $709 million in the end.

it's still too big to fail. it'll make a billion, but if this negative word of mouth really gets around then I can't see it getting much higher than that.

As bad as things are looking right now, it would still be absolutely shocking if this doesn't make 800 million.

7 of the 24 films on the $1B+ list have rotten scores on RT. The lowest score is 18%.

I think people are putting too much faith in reviews for a genre action flick like this. Legs might be bad, but that's partially repeat viewings. People are still going to go out to see this the first time.

Yep. Not sure what needs to be understood. Superman saved the entire fucking planet lol

800m worldwide would be disastrous for a film with this much riding on it.

I doubt it does less than 900M, though.

I didn't think it was possible that it would do less than 900M WW but now I'm not so sure.

IIRC people expected MoS to do way more than 700M WW based on the Superman name recognition alone and coming of the success of TDKR year before.

With the RT score being as low as it is, I see word of mouth hurting it's legs a lot.

Suicide Squad needs to be Guardians of the Galaxy/Deadpool levels of hit, at this point. Not good enough to simply be "decent".

it's easily got the pop culture potential to do just that. let's just hope the film is good.

personally this scene (complete with old man laughter):

is the best of any comic book trailer this year imo. hope the movie lives up to the vibrant performances on display.

Glad people are coming around on IM3, movie's been hot since Jump Street.

On topic: still gonna see it. Goalposts have moved for comic films and this will be fun at the very least.

This makes no sense. No fucking way.

Posting a pic like this ignores the fact that reviews don't just happen in a bubble, they're a product of the times. The mentality towards superhero movies is different now and has been that way ever since the Nolan Batman flicks and especially the Marvel films. People have different expectations and criteria for judging a Batman movie now, so juxtaposing two aggregated percentages together doesn't really tell the whole story

RT is just a like/dislike aggregator...if Batman Forever came out today, it'd probably get like a 20% rating.
